Chapter 8 The Unexpected

Jing Aotian stared at An Tingyu with deep eyes, and after a moment he said lightly: "Yunsheng."

Liu Yunsheng turned around and walked out, and came back after a while with a box in his hand. He walked to An Tingyu and opened the box.

"What do you mean?" An Tingyu stared at the phoenix-shaped jade pendant in the box.

"This piece of jade is called Feng Teng. It is a family heirloom of Prince Jing's Mansion. I hope that Feng Teng can be kept by Miss An temporarily. Of course, this matter is only known to those present. Even your grandfather, I hope he won't know about it." Jing Aotian's tone was serious, and he didn't sound like he was joking at all. However, with such a topic and such a inexplicable request, An Tingyu smiled, and her smile was a little sarcastic.

"My Lord Jing, today shouldn't be April 1st, right? I know I was stupid 'before', but please don't treat me as a fool now. This joke is not funny at all. I am not familiar with you, nor are we close. Why should I 'keep it' for you? If there is nothing else, I'll take my leave first." Without waiting for their reaction, An Tingyu turned around and left.

I thought he had some ulterior motive, but it was too baffling. It was a family heirloom, but shouldn't heirlooms be carefully kept and preserved? Yet, he simply asked her, a stranger he'd only met once, to keep it for him. Why?

"Wait!" Jing Aotian said slowly, "Don't you want to gain a foothold in the Prime Minister's Mansion? You shouldn't be content with a dull life now, right? The Prime Minister's Mansion only has two daughters. If there is a dispute with someone in the Prime Minister's Mansion, who do you think your father will protect? Do you have enough ability to protect yourself?"

"Don't say you have a grandfather. Mr. An is already old and he can't protect you forever." Jing Aotian added.

An Tingyu smiled coldly, "There's no need to trouble Prince Jing about this."

She is the reborn An Tingyu, not the fool she used to be. She is a movie queen, a doctor, and even a secret agent. She just doesn't believe it. With her acting skills, her medical skills, her abilities, and all the rest, there is always someone who can protect her. She, An Tingyu, does not need the help of a man with unknown motives, nor will she let herself fall into the bottom of an invisible abyss.

"I never pick up anything I throw away." After saying that, Jing Aotian actually threw the heirloom over.

An Tingyu took it subconsciously and was about to throw it back, but she stopped the next moment. She stared at the jade for a while, and suddenly, she smiled cunningly, "Then consider it as something I picked up. Anyway, it's something someone else 'threw away', so it would be a waste not to pick it up."

"Aotian, she is a fox, right?" Liu Yunsheng said.

"This is just right. If it's not smart enough, I don't want to give it to her yet. I want someone unexpected to hold it, because only then will it be safe."

An Tingyu's sharp eyes narrowed slightly, "It seems that I have been used by someone."

"Don't worry, you don't need to hide it. Even if others see it, it won't be a problem because they don't know what shape the object you are looking for is. Of course, it will also benefit you. As long as the jade pendant is safe, I will be your biggest support."

An Tingyu raised her eyebrows lazily, "So, I got a great bargain."

It was just a casual remark, not really intending to keep the jade. But according to Jing Aotian, no one knew its form, let alone the jade pendant itself. It sounded relatively safe, and she could also gain Jing Aotian's power. She wouldn't be at a disadvantage. But what was the purpose of this jade pendant? It was so powerful that even Jing Aotian, the King of Jing, had to hide it. This jade must be something special. Should she throw this trouble back? Or should she put it aside for now?

After thinking for a while, An Tingyu finally stayed. "I'll keep the things for you temporarily, but please don't get close to me or interfere in my affairs without my permission. This is my only request."

Although she did not need Jing Aotian's protection, and the word "being protected" did not exist in An Tingyu's dictionary, it was not a bad thing to keep a trump card.

Jing Aotian nodded and said nothing more.

Seeing that he didn't seem to have anything to say, An Tingyu didn't say anything else and turned to leave. But as soon as she stepped out of the door, she turned back and looked at Jing Aotian, "Your leg will really be useless if you don't treat it."

Jing Aotian and Liu Yunsheng were stunned. They didn't expect her to bring up such a topic.

"You...what did you just say? Do you mean that Aotian's leg can be cured?" Liu Yunsheng took a while to come back to his senses, and his tone was uncertain. He even suspected that he might have heard it wrong. Because of Jing Aotian's identity, no one dared to mention this matter in front of him, especially after Doctor Zhong clearly said that the leg could not be saved. This topic has become a taboo.

Jing Aotian's handsome face was stern as he said, "Yunsheng, stop talking. Imperial Physician Zhong has already said that there is no other way except amputation. The treatment Miss An mentioned probably means amputation as well!"

Not only Doctor Zhong, but even the so-called miracle doctor Yang Qingwei were helpless against his leg, so he had no hope at all.

"I think Prince Jing misunderstood me. When I say cure, I mean the kind that allows you to walk, not amputation."

"Are you telling the truth? Then who can cure my leg?" For the first time, shock marks appeared on Jing Aotian's stern face.

Half a month ago, the enemy invaded the border and he led his troops to fight. Unexpectedly, there was a traitor in his camp and they were ambushed. In the end, he was outnumbered ten to one and his leg was injured. It was originally just a minor injury, but the poison on the knife was a disaster. Without treatment, the injury became more serious. Even Yang Qingwei, known as the miracle doctor, and Doctor Zhong, the most skilled doctor in the palace, were helpless.
