Chapter 15 Spend Time Together 15

The morning sun streamed into the room through the cracks in the curtains. Tang Ximian drowsily turned over and reached for his phone on the bedside table. The moment the screen lit up, his eyes widened—9:50! Only ten minutes left until class!

"It's over, it's over!" He jumped up from the bed, put on his clothes in a hurry, grabbed his schoolbag and rushed out.

When passing by the cafeteria, he bought a bun and ran towards the teaching building while eating it.

The wind whistled past his ears, messing his hair. He couldn't help but mutter in his heart: "Si Yankai, this guy didn't even wake me up!"

When he rushed into the classroom panting, the teacher had already started teaching.

He hunched over and slid to sit in the back row, secretly took out his cell phone and sent a message to Si Yankai: "You actually left me alone to go to class! You'll be in trouble when you go home tonight!" After sending the message, he took a bite of the bun, but his heart was inexplicably sweet.

After class, Tang Ximian took out his phone and called Si Yankai: "Hello, where are you? Grandma is being discharged from the hospital today. Let's go pick her up together."

Si Yankai's low voice came from the other end of the phone: "Okay, I'll wait for you at the library entrance."

The two rushed to the hospital together, and Tang Ximian's grandmother sat by the bed with the things packed by the nurse.

Seeing the two people come in, grandma waved with a smile: "Mianmian is here, go and help grandma with the discharge procedures. Grandma has something to say to Xiaosi."

Tang Ximian was stunned for a moment, looked at Si Yankai suspiciously, but still went out obediently.

After the door closed, the smile on grandma's face gradually faded, and her eyes were gentle but a little serious: "Xiao Si, you and Mianmian are together, right?"

Si Yankai's heart tightened, but his face remained calm: "Yes, grandma."

Grandma sighed, her tone filled with heartache. "Mianmian has had poor health since childhood and a stubborn personality. Although he's gotten better in recent years, I'm still worried he can't handle too much stress. Feelings come and go quickly for you young people. I don't object to you being together, but I hope you promise me to treat him well. Even if we break up in the future... don't hurt him."

Si Yankai was silent for a moment, then nodded solemnly: "Grandma, don't worry. I will not separate from him, nor will I let him suffer any grievances. I will protect him, look at him in the eye, and accompany him to walk out of the shadow of the past."

Grandma looked at his determined eyes and finally smiled with relief: "Okay, grandma believes you."

At this time, Tang Ximian pushed the door open and came in, holding the discharge form in his hand. He looked at the two of them with a puzzled look on his face: "What are you talking about? You're so mysterious."

Si Yankai walked over, took the list from his hand naturally, and patted his shoulder gently: "Nothing, grandma is praising you for being sensible."

Tang Ximian looked at him suspiciously, then looked at his grandmother. He always felt that something was wrong, but he didn't ask any more questions.

The three of them walked out of the hospital together, the sunlight shining on them, lengthening their shadows. Grandma walked in the middle, supported by two of the younger ones, looking very happy.

Si Yankai turned his head to glance at Tang Ximian, his eyes full of tenderness.

He knew that the road ahead might not be smooth, but he had made up his mind that no matter what, he would stay by this stubborn and fragile person's side until he could truly step out of the shadows and embrace the light that belonged to them.
