Chapter 47 Spend Time Together

Chapter 47 Spend Time Together

The smell of disinfectant was like an invisible net, enveloping every inch of air in the emergency room corridor.

Tang Ximian curled up on the metal bench, his knees pulled up to his chin, staring at the red light on the door without blinking.

In the reflection of the glass, the strands of hair on his forehead were limply sticking to his skin, and there was a dark spot under his eyes, making him look like a little animal drenched by the rain.

"Eat something first." Si Yankai's voice was coldly gentle, and the paper bag was still warm when it was stuffed into his arms.

The pork rib porridge in the thermos was steaming, but Tang Ximian just shook his head, his fingertips unconsciously twisting his sleeves.

"Be good." Si Yankai half squatted down, forcing the other person to look at him.

He brushed his fingertips across the red corners of Tang Ximian's eyes and suddenly pinched his face, "If you don't drink it now, the porridge will turn into paste."

The boyish coaxing finally made Tang Ximian open his mouth, and the spoon made a slight sound when it touched his teeth.

He swallowed mechanically, but his eyes never left the emergency room door.

Si Yankai lowered his eyes and straightened his crooked collar. When his sleeve rubbed against the other's wrist, it touched a piece of hot skin.

The wall clock at the end of the corridor struck twelve. When Delish came back with a blanket, he saw Si Yankai dozing off with Tang Ximian supported by his shoulders.

The boy's head dropped down little by little, and Si Yankai tapped his forehead lightly with his knuckles, earning a nasal sound in response.

"Go lie down for a while, I'll be watching over you."

Si Yankai rubbed the back of his neck, where a small tuft of hair stood up, like a cat with its fur standing on end.

Tang Ximian shook her head stubbornly, her chin resting on her knees, her eyelashes casting trembling shadows under her eyes: "I want to wait for my brother to wake up..."

When the sky in the east began to turn pale, the door of the emergency room finally opened.

Tang Ximian stood up suddenly, and his knees hit the bench with a dull thud.

He rushed to the glass, his nose almost touching the cold mirror, and watched the pale person on the bed slowly open his eyes.

Tang Li's eyelashes trembled in the morning light, like a butterfly flapping its wings.

He turned his head and saw Tang Ximian outside the glass. He was stunned at first, then curled up the corners of his mouth.

The youthful face lost some of its color, but he still managed a lazy smile. His pale lips opened and closed as he silently said, "Silly Mianmian."

Si Yankai reached out and held down Tang Ximian who was about to rush in, and gently wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes with his fingertips.

Derich handed over a warm towel at some point, and the three of them were like silent film protagonists with the pause button pressed. The tense atmosphere suddenly loosened when the doctor took off his mask and said, "The patient's condition has stabilized."

The curtains of the ordinary ward were opened a corner, and the sunlight slanted across Tang Li's brow.

He looked at his brother who was half-held by Si Yankai, and suddenly reached out and slowly poked his red cheek: "Your eyes are swollen like peaches. If you keep crying, you'll go blind."

"How is it possible..." Tang Ximian sniffed, his voice muffled as if he was holding a piece of plum candy in his mouth.

Si Yankai handed him some warm boiled water at the right time and tapped the back of his hand lightly with his knuckles, signaling him not to cry in front of the patient.

"Go get some sleep, huh?"

Tang Li used his free hand to smooth out his brother's messy bangs, running his fingertips across his burning forehead. "I'm very weak right now. If I saw you with dark circles under your eyes, I might faint."

"Pooh, pooh, pooh, what are you talking about?" Tang Ximian quickly spoke out to stop him.

"Okay, okay, let's not talk about it. Go and get some rest. Delish will stay and take care of me. Don't worry."

Tang Ximian refused to leave, and Tang Li had no choice but to give Si Yankai a look.

Si Yankai nodded, put his hand on the back of the boy's neck, and pushed him out of the ward: "Listen to your brother, you haven't fallen asleep in a long time. Take care of yourself first, then you can come and take care of your brother."

The morning light passed through the window lattices in the corridor, casting a golden edge on Si Yankai's shoulders.

As Tang Ximian followed him to the elevator, he suddenly reached out and grabbed the corner of his clothes.

The warmth of the boy's palm came through the fabric. Si Yankai glanced sideways and saw that there were still tears on his eyelashes, but when he looked up at him, he showed a smile brighter than the morning light.

Si Yankai knew that he was feeling lucky that Tang Li was alright, and also feeling lucky that he did not lose control.

Si Yankai gently touched Tang Ximian's head, "It doesn't matter if you lose control, but..."

Si Yankai bent down and kissed the corner of his mouth. It was a kiss without any eroticism, only soothing.

"Very impressive, Amian. I'm proud of you."

Some things grow in silence.

Just like the starlight outside the emergency room that night, it will eventually turn into warm light penetrating the clouds one morning.
