Chapter 88 Spend Time Together
Si Yankai overcame all obstacles and finally made it to the finals of the National College Students' "Qixing Cup" Challenge.
Before the competition, the organizing committee specifically announced that in order to isolate outside interference and ensure the fairness of the competition, no one except the contestants and staff was allowed to enter the venue. This news made Tang Ximian proud of Si Yankai, but also secretly clenched her heart. She always felt that if she couldn't stand by the sidelines, she would lack the confidence to support him.
The night before the finals, Tang Ximian was even more nervous than Si Yankai.
Just after seven o'clock, I urged myself to finish my shower, change into soft pajamas and get into bed, with my back straight and even my hands and feet neatly placed at my sides, just like a child waiting to be inspected.
Si Yankai was sitting at the desk checking the competition information. He caught a glimpse of the person lying on the bed like a piece of tofu. The tip of his pen paused and the corners of his mouth curled up.
He put down his pen and walked over, gently touching Tang Ximian's earlobe, which was exposed outside the quilt, with his fingertips. He asked gently, "Can you sleep if you're so tense?"
Tang Ximian's eyelashes trembled, but she didn't open her eyes. She just lowered her voice with a hint of deliberate seriousness: "Shh, don't talk, I'm going to sleep - I have to accompany you to the competition venue tomorrow, and you can't be late."
Si Yankai glanced at the clock on the wall that just pointed to eight o'clock. The smile in his eyes became even more intense, but he didn't show it. He just gently tapped his shoulder and said, "Okay, then you go to sleep. I won't disturb you."
When he came out of the shower, the steam in the bathroom had not yet dissipated, and he saw Tang Ximian hurriedly stuffing his phone under the pillow, rubbing the back of his hands behind his back, quickly closing his eyes, and even deliberately slowing down his breathing. He also imitated his usual sleeping state, squeezing out a few soft "snoring" from his throat.
Si Yankai suppressed his laughter, walked over lightly, and sat on the edge of the bed as usual.
As soon as he dropped his center of gravity, Tang Ximian jumped up, grabbed the quilt and covered his head with it. His movements were as fast as a small animal with its fur standing on end, and he was holding back his laughter, waiting for him to exclaim.
But it was quiet under the quilt, without even a sound of struggle.
Tang Ximian's smile slowly faded, and she suddenly felt a little panicked. She tentatively tugged at the corner of the quilt: "Huh? Si Yankai? Are you okay?"
As soon as his fingertips touched the edge of the quilt, a hand reached out from inside and gently grasped them.
The next second, he was gently pulled by the refreshing cedar scent of shower gel, and he lost his balance and fell into the warm bedding and into a strong embrace.
"You're so good at pretending to sleep that you even learned to snore?" Si Yankai's voice was close to his ear, and the heat from his smile made his ear tips feel hot.
Tang Ximian's cheeks flushed red. She tried to break free but was held tighter. She could only bury her head in the crook of his neck, "I... I was just worried that you'd be nervous. I wanted you to relax."
"I'm not nervous." Si Yankai lowered his head and rubbed the top of his head, his voice particularly gentle, his fingertips gently stroking his hand that was clenched tightly on the corner of his clothes, "But knowing that you care so much, I am a little nervous - what if I can't bring the trophy back to give it to you tomorrow?"
"What should I do? I'll make you something delicious and take you out to have fun to celebrate. It's already amazing that you made it to the finals, okay? Don't get too nervous about it. Just do your best in the finals. No matter what the result is, I'll rush over to find you the first time you get out."
Si Yankai looked at him with an extremely serious expression, and the smile in his eyes was about to overflow.
He reached out and pinched Tang Ximian's flushed cheeks, and gently rubbed his lips, which were slightly pursed due to anxiety. "I know, I'll do as you say."
As soon as he finished speaking, he leaned closer and lowered his voice, with a touch of soothing gentleness: "But I still want to get the trophy - I want to give you the trophy with my name engraved on it."
Tang Ximian's heart skipped a beat, her cheeks felt a little hot, and she quickly buried her face back in his arms, humming in a muffled voice.
Si Yankai felt the person in his arms trembling slightly, and knew that he was shy again. He couldn't help but chuckle, reached out and gently patted his back, slowly coaxing him like coaxing a child.
After a while, Tang Ximian's breathing gradually calmed down, but her hand that was holding the corner of Si Yankai's clothes had not yet loosened, and she occasionally muttered something softly.
Si Yankai lowered his head to look at his peaceful sleeping face, his fingertips gently brushing the faint blue shadows under his eyes, his heart softened - it was such a warm thing to be cared for so deeply by someone.
He gently kissed the top of Tang Ximian's head and whispered softly, "Don't worry, I will bring you the trophy tomorrow."
The moonlight from outside the window shines through the gauze curtains and falls on the clasped hands of the two people, so gentle that it seems to want to blend this moment of warmth into the years to come.
