Chapter 68 Spend Time Together

Chapter 68 Spend Time Together

The dusk flows slowly along the cloud bread like melted caramel.

Tang Ximian slumped on the off-white fabric sofa, her whole body sinking into the soft folds.

The fatigue after the long bumpy ride came over him like a tide. He let out a long sigh, his tone dragging out the last line: "Finally, we're here... Sitting for seven hours straight made his limbs a little numb, especially his lower body, which was unusually sore.

Tang Ximian unconsciously rubbed his aching waist and jokingly said, "I've been sitting in the car for such a long time, I feel like my butt is going to cramp."

There was an exaggeration in his voice, as if he had survived a disaster.

Hearing his brother's complaints, Tang Li's lips curled up gently. He turned around and leaned against the door frame, his eyes full of indulgence: "I originally asked you to take the high-speed train, but you said you didn't want to, so you can only sit for this long."

Tang Ximian tilted his head, his eyes following the gradually darkening sky outside the window, his fingertips unconsciously stroking the patterns on the sofa: "Well... I want to see more of the scenery."

At the end of the words, the voice was as light as a dandelion floating in the evening breeze.

In fact, what he didn't say was that the mountains and fields that receded along the way would lose their beauty if there was no one to share them with.

He just wanted to accompany his brother and spend more time together on the long journey home.

Tang Li naturally understood his brother's unfulfilled feelings. A light laugh escaped his throat, and he reached out to rub the ends of Tang Ximian's hair.

This familiar action carries the tacit understanding and intimacy they have had since childhood.

Tang Ximian looked up at his brother's gentle eyes and brows. The last rays of the setting sun shone through the gauze curtains, gilding Tang Li's outline with a layer of gold, as if the brother in his memory had always been so gentle and reliable.

Silence flowed between the two of them, with only the regular ticking of the wall clock making an sound.

Perhaps curious about why Tang Li hadn't moved, Tang Ximian suddenly stood up mechanically like a robot with the start button pressed, and inched towards Tang Li with exaggerated zombie steps: "Brother..."

Tang Li turned around and glanced at his brother's deliberately distorted facial features. The corners of his mouth twitched helplessly. This younger brother was becoming more and more cheerful. It was good to have a childish side, but he hoped that he would not become more and more abstract.

Tang Ximian finally moved closer and found that Tang Li was concentrating on sorting the things he brought back from his hometown.

Several bamboo baskets were neatly stacked on the coffee table. The fresh green vegetables were still covered with morning dew, the red tomatoes were round and plump, and the bacon in the corner was shining with an enticing oiliness.

Only then did he remember how his grandparents were packing things into the car in high spirits before leaving, nagging them to take care of their health while they kept putting in the things they grew and pickled, almost as if they had stuffed the entire yard into the car.

"Eh? Why are you in such a hurry to pack up? Come over here and sit down and rest for a while! Brother, aren't you tired after driving for so long?"

As Tang Ximian spoke, he reached out to grab the vegetables from Tang Li's hand, but the other party cleverly avoided him.

Tang Li smiled and dodged his brother's hand, his tone carrying the helplessness of an older brother: "Grandpa and grandma gave us some vegetables, fruits and some bacon they grew themselves. We have to clean them up and put them in the refrigerator, otherwise they will rot easily."

As he spoke, he carefully wrapped the vegetables in a plastic bag, his movements as gentle as if he was caring for a precious work of art.

Tang Ximian looked at her brother's busy back and pursed her lips.

He walked forward, took the tomato from his brother's hand, and said softly, "I'll help too."

Tang Li smiled, handed the fruit to him, and asked him to put it in the refrigerator.
