Chapter 14 Spend Time Together 14

Si Yankai suddenly grabbed his hand and said, "My wish is that Tang Ximian will always be happy. May my wish come true and grandma be safe and sound."

Tang Ximian's heart skipped a beat. He remembered a time when he was sick as a child. Born less than a month old, his health had never been good. That morning, he'd been caught in a cold breeze, and that evening, he'd developed a low-grade fever.

The nanny at home didn't notice him, and it was Si Yankai who stayed by his bed, clumsily wiping his sweat and giving him water. Si Yankai was only ten years old at the time, but he stubbornly refused to go to bed, insisting on waiting for his fever to subside.

"Silly girl." Tang Ximian said softly, "I made a wish about you."

Si Yankai had gentle eyes and a smile on his lips.

He reached out and pulled Tang Ximian into his arms, resting his chin on the top of his head. "I know. I also know how uneasy you are. Don't worry, Grandma, it's just a minor surgery. I sent you away because I was afraid you'd get emotional and have a seizure. With your prayers, Grandma will be fine."

"Well, I believe grandma, and I also believe that the doctor will work hard to treat it."

"Well, Mianzi's wish came true."

The temple bell rang at the perfect moment, startling a flock of white doves. Tang Ximian nodded in Si Yankai's arms, smelling the familiar cedar scent on him. She felt her heart filled with peace, no longer afraid or uneasy.

After coming out of the temple, Si Yankai put his arm around Tang Ximian's shoulders and said, "Let's go back to school to put our luggage, and then go to the hospital to see grandma."

Tang Ximian was led forward by him, the faint scent of cedar lingering on her nose. It was the scent of his usual perfume, clear and crisp with a hint of warmth, just like him.

Back in the dormitory, Si Yankai skillfully helped Tang Ximian pack her luggage. Tang Ximian sat on the edge of the bed, watching his tall figure busy in the room.

"Why are your clothes stuffed so haphazardly again?" Si Yankai pulled a wrinkled shirt from the closet. "How many times have I told you to hang them up?"

"I know, I know." Tang Ximian muttered, "You educate me every day, you are on the way to educate me!"

Si Yankai smiled helplessly: "You dislike me again? For whose good? Huh?"

Tang Ximian was just about to laugh it off when her cell phone suddenly rang.

Tang Ximian picked up the phone and his expression suddenly changed: "Really? That's great! We'll be there right away!"

"What's wrong? What makes you so excited?" Si Yankai put down the clothes in his hands.

"Grandma's operation was successful!" Tang Ximian jumped up, her eyes suddenly red, "Let's go to the hospital!"

Si Yankai grabbed him and said, "Don't be in a hurry, put on your shoes first." He squatted down, tied Tang Ximian's shoelaces, and took his coat to put on him.

The two hurried to the hospital, Tang Ximian jogging all the way, Si Yankai following closely behind him. When they arrived at the door of the ward, Tang Ximian suddenly stopped and didn't dare to go in.

"What's wrong?" Si Yankai asked softly.

"I..." Tang Ximian bit her lip, "I'm a little scared."

Si Yankai held his hand and found that it was shaking slightly. He gently pulled Tang Ximian into his arms and rested his chin on the top of his head: "Don't be afraid, I'm with you."

Tang Ximian buried her face in his chest, breathing in the familiar scent of his body, and her heartbeat slowly calmed down. Si Yankai's hand gently stroked his back, as if soothing a frightened little animal.

"Let's go in and see grandma." Si Yankai let go of him, but still held his hand.

Tang Ximian nodded and walked into the ward with him. Grandma was lying on the bed, her face pale but in good spirits. Seeing them come in, she smiled kindly: "Xiaomian is here."

"Grandma..." Tang Ximian threw herself to the bed, tears finally falling.

Si Yankai stood aside and watched the grandparents and grandchildren talking.

The sunlight shone in from the window, gilding the ward with a warm golden hue. He suddenly felt that being able to stay by Tang Ximian's side, watching him laugh, watch him cry, and witness all his joys and sorrows, was the greatest happiness.
