Chapter 45 Spend Time Together
The sunlight slanted in through the half-drawn curtains. Tang Ximian stretched out in the quilt and draped his arms to the side - they were cold.
He opened his eyes drowsily and touched the place where Si Yankai had slept. There was not even any residual warmth left.
"Getting up so early..."
He muttered, turned over, buried his face in Si Yankai's pillow and took a deep breath, which still had a faint, unique scent of his.
After washing up, I walked to the restaurant. There was a plate of dumplings on the table and the soy milk in the glass next to it was still warm.
Tang Ximian raised an eyebrow, picked up the phone and saw the message Si Yankai sent two hours ago:
[Remember to eat breakfast when you wake up. Remember to warm up the dumplings if they're cold. I have something to take care of. Wait until I get back.]
He held a dumpling in his mouth and typed with one hand: [OK]
Less than two minutes after I replied, my phone vibrated again:
[My dear, don’t play with your phone while eating breakfast. Play with it after you finish eating.]
"......" Tang Ximian, who had just opened the social software, curled her lips at the screen, "I won't listen to you."
Having said that, his fingers obediently locked the screen. He slowly and methodically finished the dumplings one by one, even scraping the vinegar dish clean before picking up the phone again.
When Si Yankai opened the door, the sound of intense gaming was blaring in the living room.
Tang Ximian sat cross-legged on the sofa, her fingers sliding quickly on the game controller, and she didn't even look up when he came in.
"I'm back."
"Ah!" Tang Ximian was distracted and the little character in the game died tragically.
He dropped the handle and pounced, hanging on Si Yankai like a koala. "You're finally back! I'm so bored——"
Si Yankai was knocked back half a step by him, and smiled as he supported his knee: "Sorry for letting us sleep."
I rubbed my palm up his back, my fingertips tangled in his hair that had curled up from sleeping. "I'll take you out to play tonight."
"Where are you going?" Tang Ximian's eyes suddenly lit up.
"Haven't you always wanted to watch car racing? There's an underground race tonight."
Si Yankai pinched the back of his neck and said, "But you have to promise me that you won't learn those dangerous moves when the time comes."
"Yeah!" Tang Ximian cheered, leaning forward and kissing him on the chin, "I've been wanting to go for a long time!"
The night permeates the city like thick ink, but the neon lights of the racetrack cut the darkness into pieces.
The roar of the engine mixed with the screams of the audience came towards them. Tang Ximian grabbed Si Yankai's wrist, his knuckles turned white, but his eyes were burning with eagerness.
"Look! Overtaking on that curve!"
Tang Ximian suddenly tiptoed to Si Yankai's ear, and her warm breath swept across his red earlobe.
Si Yankai's Adam's apple rolled. He reached out and pulled the man into his arms, rubbing his chin against his soft hair.
Amidst the cheers from the stands, Si Yankai was the only one not watching the race on the track. Instead, he was focused on Tang Ximian, watching his every frown and smile, as dazzling as a star.
When the show ended, the crowd retreated like a tide, and Si Yankai took Tang Ximian's hand and walked to the corner of the parking lot.
Under the moonlight, a matte black sports car exudes a cool luster, and its streamlined body is like a cheetah ready to pounce.
Tang Ximian's steps suddenly stopped, and his fingers unconsciously stroked Si Yankai's palm: "Is this... yours?"
"Well, do you like it?" Si Yankai opened the car door, and the metallic interior reflected Tang Ximian's wide eyes.
He leaned over to help people fasten their seat belts, his fingertips brushing Tang Ximian's hot cheeks, "Do you want to try it?"
The low hum of the engine exploded on the silent street.
Tang Ximian's hands were shaking slightly as he gripped the steering wheel, but he couldn't hide the upward curve of his lips.
Si Yankai half-leaned on the passenger seat, his eyes moving between Tang Ximian's focused profile and the rearview mirror.
"Then I'll open it." Tang Ximian suddenly turned his head with a provocative smile at the corner of his eyes.
Before Si Yankai could respond, the car suddenly rushed out.
The wind rushed in through the half-open car window, ruffling Tang Ximian's bangs, but his tense shoulders gradually relaxed. As the car accelerated, his clear laughter mixed with the engine noise lingered in the night.
In the rearview mirror, the halos of the street lights formed a blurry golden line.
Si Yankai looked at Tang Ximian's fluttering eyelashes and a chuckle escaped from his throat.
But his fingertips quietly hooked around Tang Ximian's little finger that was hanging on the edge of the seat - as if as long as Tang Ximian wanted, he would be willing to accompany him to drive this road until dawn.
