A New Year's letter to book friends

It’s 2023.

Time flies, and before I knew it, I’m 18 years old. I also wish my readers to stay 18 forever.

Growing up is actually a very painful thing. In the past year, I have experienced the passing of my elders, the wear and tear of my body, and the marriage of my friends...

After you get married, a man will no longer be able to play games with you, go out for fun, climb trees to pick bird eggs, or go into the water to catch crabs, because there is a barrier between you called a woman.

Gradually, there are fewer and fewer friends around me who can play with me.

I think everyone feels the same way. If you have any, let’s feel sad together.

Looking back on the experience of last year, it was still very fulfilling. I was imprisoned in front of the computer to type every day by readers' urging for updates. I recalled the pain of writer's block when writing Dafeng, and the shame of not daring to open the chapter (the updates were poor).

After a slow climb over the past year, Dafeng finally reached 200,000.

The number of listeners on Himalaya reached a terrifying 4.2 billion, less than a year, 4.2 billion. I asked the audio anchor about it, and it is said to be the highest number of audio novels in the history of Himalaya, just like the average subscription of Dafeng on the main site.

People who don’t pay attention may not know that Dafeng’s popularity index is terrifying.

Next, I look forward to animation and film and television.

In the past year, the average subscription for Lingjing’s books has reached 189,000 so far, and it should reach 200,000 during the serialization period.

When I was writing this book, I was actually a little unsure because I had never written about this subject before.

Now Spiritual Realm is halfway finished and the results are settled. For the author, each book has its own life, especially for those who like to change the subject matter.

After all, the author is not a god. For topics he is not good at, he just has more writing skills than new authors, that's all.

Readers are the most loyal and the most ruthless. They are loyal to books and ruthless to people. If a book is not well written, no one will read it. If a book is well written, people will read it. It is very pure and simple.

No one will continue to subscribe to your book just because your previous one was good and this one is rubbish (only a few readers will). I remember when I opened the book, I asked the editor-in-chief with great anticipation, what is the overlap rate of readers of Lingjing and Dafeng?

I got a very disappointing answer: less than 20%.

Therefore, the fact that Lingjing has achieved this result shows that it still has some merits. This is the greatest comfort for me when experiencing a new subject.

At the end of the year, I got zits, caught a cold, and got zits again (probably not fully recovered yet).

After re-exposure, my sense of taste and smell disappeared, and I had severe brain fog. To this day, it is still difficult for me to think of the plot and to find the right words. Sometimes I can’t even write a complete sentence.

Please don't criticize me, at least I had two erections but I didn't stop updating for a single day.

I was actually silently bearing a huge amount of pressure and pain, but I didn’t say it…

Now my sense of taste and smell has returned, but the brain fog is still there, and my sense of smell and taste are not as sensitive, and have become worse than before.

Appears to have sustained permanent damage.

I don’t want to experience COVID-19 again in my lifetime. For authors as a group, COVID-19 will really deal a heavy blow to their careers.

But relaxing the restrictions also has its advantages - everyone's life can return to normal and they don't have to stay at home every day.

I sincerely hope that everyone’s life can return to normal and prosper in the new year.

Time will heal all wounds.

Love you!
