Chapter 73 Who to spend the New Year with
Minghui stood at the door, leaning against the wall and kicking stones out of boredom.
When she heard the voice, she turned her head and saw Lin Jin standing on the stairs. She said happily, "Jin Jin, you're back. I was wondering why you didn't open the door even after I knocked for so long."
Ming Sui saw Sang Yue behind her and took the initiative to greet her, "Hello, Sang Yue."
Sang Yue nodded and said, "Hello."
"Sui Sui, why are you here?"
Lin Jin was a little surprised by the visitor, so she put the cart on the ground and took out the key to open the door.
Ming Sui followed behind and said, "I'm here to pick you up to celebrate the New Year. Tomorrow is New Year's Eve. I specially waited until tonight to pick you up. You must go with me tonight."
"Ah? New Year's Day?"
Lin Jin put the cart on the ground and took out the food with Sang Yue. "You didn't go home? This is not good! How can an outsider like me go to your house to celebrate the New Year?"
"Hey! What's the big deal? It was my parents who ordered me to take you back." Minghui brought up her parents and emphasized that it was her mother who gave a death order.
If she didn't bring someone home tonight, she would probably end up on the streets.
Lin Jin thought that this was really not a good idea. There was no reason to celebrate the New Year at someone else's house.
Just as I was about to reject the call, the phone rang. When I answered it, it was Hua Yi calling.
"Hey Xiaoyi, what's wrong?"
"Me? I'm at home, you want to come see me?"
“Beep, beep, beep~”
Lin Jin held the phone, confused. Hua Yi hung up without saying a word. Her impetuous attitude was not like her at all.
She recalled what she had been talking about and was about to tell Minghui to forget it, when the next moment she heard a knock on the door.
She was closest to the door, so she had no choice but to walk to open it in her slippers.
"You came so quickly? Lele!"
The door opened. Lin Jin thought it was Hua Yi standing outside the door and wanted to tease her for her extraordinary speed today, but she didn't know that it was Jiang Le standing outside the door.
She stomped into the house, holding two cups of milk tea.
"It's freezing, it's freezing, I feel like I'm in the north."
She walked into the room on her own and saw Sang Yue greeting her. Then she turned her eyes and saw Ming Sui looking her up and down in surprise.
"Why are you here?"
Minghui was about to ask her, "You're still talking about me, then what are you doing here?"
"Of course I'm here for something."
Jiang Le put straws into the milk tea he brought and handed one cup to Lin Jin and one cup to Sang Yue.
"Here, it's still warm, five cents of sugar."
Sang Yue didn't expect that she had one too, so she quickly took it and said, "Thank you."
"You're welcome." Jiang Le smiled and said no, "Jin Jin, pack up and come home with me later. My parents asked me to ask you to go home for the New Year. You're alone anyway."
"cough!"
Sang Yue was almost choked by the pearls that were sucked up, and she quickly covered her mouth and coughed.
Lin Jin swallowed the taro balls and glanced at Ming Sui who was standing next to her with a sad face, "Did you and Sui Sui discuss this? She also asked me to go home for the New Year."
"Ah! Sui Sui said so too?" This time it was Jiang Le's turn to be surprised.
"Yes, I also want to take my aunt back to celebrate the New Year. I came here first and you are not allowed to snatch it from me." Mingsui pushed Jiang Le aside.
Jiang Le was pushed back a few steps, then he came to his senses and rushed forward to grab Lin Jin's hand, "What do you mean I'm going with you? Come with me, it will take more than an hour to get to your house."
Ming Sui would never give up Lin Jin, and immediately grabbed Lin Jin's other hand, "No, no, come with me. If Jin Jin doesn't go back, my mother will beat me."
"Then my mother will beat me. My delicate skin can't stand it."
The two of them grabbed Lin Jin and shook her left and right and started arguing with her, both of them wanting Lin Jin to go celebrate the New Year with them.
Sang Yue wanted to laugh but couldn't, so she could only hold it back, turned her head and took a big gulp of milk tea.
"Who? Going with whom?"
Hua Yi's voice was suddenly heard outside the door. The four of them turned around and saw Hua Yi walking in with a basket of fruit.
"What are you talking about? Where is Auntie going? Isn't she going home with you to celebrate the New Year?"
She looked at Sang Yue standing beside her and said with a big smile: "Happy New Year, Sang Yue. This is a gift for you. I wish you a happy new year in advance."
Sang Yue put down her milk tea in surprise and reached out to take the fruit basket. "Thank you, and Happy New Year to you too. I feel embarrassed for making such a fuss."
Jiang Le/Ming Sui: "Xiao Yi, why are you here?"
Hua Yi glared at the two of them, went into the house and closed the door, "You all can be here, why can't you be here? Let me tell you, Auntie is not going with you. Auntie is going home with me to celebrate the New Year."
"puff!"
Sang Yue finally couldn't help laughing, she covered her mouth with her hands and laughed so hard that her shoulders trembled.
Oh my god! My aunt’s friends are really fun.
"Oh! Okay, stop making trouble. I'm not going to anyone's house. I'm going to celebrate the New Year here. I want to celebrate the New Year with Sang Yue. We agreed on this."
Lin Jin broke free from Jiang Le and Ming Sui's shackles and explained to everyone, "Thank you for your kindness, but you should spend the New Year with your family."
The three of them felt as if they had lost their parents when they heard this.
"Are you really not going back with us? My mom misses you."
"My family hired a chef from Beijing this year, and his food is delicious."
"Auntie, my grandma is from the north, and the dumplings she makes are delicious. Let's go!"
The three tried to change Lin Jin's determination.
Sang Yue also wanted to persuade Lin Jin to go! She could spend the New Year alone.
However, Lin Jin had made up her mind and she refused to go no matter what.
But seeing the lost looks of her roommates, she thought of a compromise.
"How about you come to my house for dinner tomorrow night, and we can celebrate the New Year together?"
The three people's eyes suddenly lit up.
This is a good idea. If auntie doesn’t go home with them, then they can come to her house.
Anyway, the adults in the family have their own relatives and friends, and my aunt only has them now.
It’s totally okay to not spend the New Year with your family once, and you don’t have to visit relatives.
"feasible!"
"I'm fine."
"That's fine with me."
Lin Jin looked at Sang Yue and asked her if she could treat the guests at home.
Sang Yue said she had no objection and she warmly welcomed everyone to come. She didn't have many friends anyway and the more people there were, the more lively it would be.
Things were happily decided, but in the end, the invitation was turned out to be a counter-invitation by Lin Jin.
We agreed to have lunch and dinner together tomorrow and talked for a while before leaving.
Suddenly, they had to entertain guests, and the ingredients prepared by Lin Jin seemed not enough.
Therefore, early in the morning on New Year's Eve, she didn't even sleep in, but got up early and rushed to the supermarket to buy a lot of food.
Sang Yue got up to help, and she stayed in the house to clean the ingredients and cut the vegetables.
After Lin Jin came back from shopping, she helped to prepare and decorate the house.
Not long after Lin Jin came back, the doorbell rang. The roommates who had originally agreed to come at 11 o'clock now appeared outside the door together.
The three of them each brought New Year gifts, and Hua Yi also brought a big cake.
"Happy New Year, Auntie!"
"Happy New Year, Sang Yue!"
Several people said Happy New Year to each other. After entering the house, they were not idle. They took off their coats, put on aprons, washed their hands, and helped in the kitchen.
