Chapter 3 The Spirit Realm: Humans are not very knowledgeable.
Fang Zhiyi led the way, taking the most secluded and winding dog paths, showing no regard for his human dog apprentice.
Chu Jue didn't think there was anything wrong with it. Dogs have their advantages too; it's not like they can't get past people.
She was silently looking around, observing the subtle differences between this place and the Empire.
Turning from the ordinary street into a narrow alley, guided by Fang Zhiyi at a tricky angle, the view was narrow, and apart from the gray walls and the passageway, nothing else could be seen at a glance.
But Chu Jue could hear it.
Insects, fish, birds... she sensed everything around her; those subtle and unfamiliar sounds were proof of the existence of life.
This is completely different from an empire.
Everything is full of life, which easily gives people a sense of comfort.
Chu Jue is currently unable to distinguish whether she is on vacation or working overtime, and the completely unfamiliar environment requires her to remain vigilant.
Danger often lurks beneath a peaceful surface. Judging from the men who harbored murderous intent towards her upon their first meeting, the world's order is far less secure than that of the empire.
Not to mention that her mental strength had inexplicably disappeared.
The future looks very bright.
Seeing that the area was becoming increasingly desolate, Chu Jue glanced at the sign for Street T3 in Zone C displayed on the electronic screen in the neighborhood and estimated the location and distance in his mind.
There were very few residents in Block C. It wasn't until he passed T5 Street that Chu Jue spotted a group of new people gathering in an orderly fashion in an open space. They were all with their families, seemingly holding some kind of event.
Chu Jue glanced around and immediately noticed that all the children being led by their parents were boys.
She nudged Fang Zhiyi, who had been glancing at her every now and then looking away shyly, and asked, "What are you doing?"
Fang Zhiyi was feeling proud of having taken on a good disciple when he was suddenly poked, and the dog shuddered.
She glanced in the direction Chu Jue was asking, said "Oh," and then guessed, "It must be some organization recruiting people everywhere again."
"organize?"
"Yes, let me see... cough cough."
Fang Zhiyi looked at it for a long time but still couldn't recognize it, so she thought it was because the organization was too obscure.
"It must be a small, unknown organization. Only small organizations would be so proactive in recruiting. Unlike those members of the Lunar Eclipse Group, whose stench could be smelled from a distance."
It turns out that the men from before also came from the same organization.
"The Lunar Eclipse Group is infamous." Seeing that she seemed genuinely puzzled, Fang Zhiyi, as a teacher, felt a surge of responsibility.
"It's said that their group rules are to disrupt order, rob, and they've always advocated violence. And their group leader, just by looking at him, doesn't seem like a good person, yet he's always marketing himself on social media."
It made her click "not interested" every time she saw it.
“Organizations with a bit of a reputation like theirs don’t actively recruit people. After all, people who want to join them will offer themselves up. And I saw a post online saying that the Eclipse Group prefers to kill off undeveloped spiritualists rather than nurture them.”
So that's how it is," Chu Jue digested the new information.
Here, spiritual cultivators can choose to join an organization based on their different spiritual cultivation philosophies or talents. The more famous the organization, the higher the threshold, thus inevitably falling into a vicious cycle of "the stronger get stronger".
Chu Jue was somewhat curious about this, but Fang Zhiyi didn't know much about it either.
Thanks to the random generation of the wormhole location, she found herself facing off against a popular organization that Fang Zhiyi described as vengeful, even before she knew what was going on.
Remaining cautious and still tentatively exploring the rules of the other world, Chu Jue did not kill indiscriminately, but instead took some conservative measures.
Fang Zhiyi was unaware that Chu Jue had already analyzed her rambling words, and was still criticizing them: "There are so many corrupt officials among them, they just rely on their own strength, ptooey."
"Some strength?" Chu Jue asked in confusion. "What kind of strength did those guys have just now?"
Fang Zhiyi: "That corpse seemed to have had second or third-level spiritual power before it died."
Chu Jue: "Oh."
Therefore, her strength at the third tier means she can kill someone with a tree branch.
Is this numerical inflation? Isn't it a bit too weak...? Chu Jue has gained a preliminary understanding of the realm distinctions in the new world.
Lacking data for comparison at the moment, Chu Jue steered the conversation back to the present, asking another question: "Are you only hiring men?"
There were no little girls in those groups.
Fang Zhiyi shook the dog's head: "I don't know. Dogs don't understand things about you humans."
It seems that those who are just gossiping online haven't mentioned this.
Dogs don't understand, and neither do people.
During their casual conversation, they arrived at the spiritual realm that Fang Zhiyi had mentioned, and the master and disciple paused their explanation of the science.
After Fang Zhiyi made some furtive gestures next to Chu Jue, Chu Jue successfully entered Fang Zhiyi's spiritual realm with the sound of "Authentication Successful".
Compared to the places and dog paths I've seen before, this place is a truly luxurious mansion.
Based solely on the words "Spirit Realm," Chu Jue had assumed it would be something like a combat training ground where even the intelligent voice commands felt exceptionally cold.
Unexpectedly, it was not only luxurious, but also had a strong sense of everyday life.
The warm and cool lights respectively guide the "study area" and "living area". The screen that monitors the data in real time indicates that the air quality and spiritual energy quality are both excellent. Even upon entering, Chu Jue could feel that the "spiritual energy" here was much richer than outside.
Chu Jue looked around and made a preliminary judgment: there were many differences in details compared to the technology of the Empire.
In short—she doesn't know her.
"So this is what you call the Spirit Realm."
Hearing this, Fang Zhiyi became extremely arrogant, her tail wagging high: "Of course, not everyone can have this. You mere humans have no knowledge, do you?"
Fang Zhiyi explained that she was a second-generation spirit cultivator, while her mother was a genuine first-generation spirit cultivator, possessing numerous spiritual domains like this one. She also had several sisters, but they were all busy cultivating their spiritual powers and hadn't been in contact with each other for a long time.
"So that's how it is."
The Spirit Realm is indeed an enviable place, as are the second generation of Spirit Realm members.
The place was quite large, yet there were no protective measures in sight… Perhaps there was some kind of special device? Chu Jue’s tactical skills immediately made her think of safety issues, and she asked the question with some curiosity.
Although the equipment was complete, it seemed to be missing a layer of access control. At first, Chu Jue thought it was a voiceprint protection layer door lock, but after taking a closer look, he found that it was not.
Fang Zhiyi shook his head with a look that said, "My disciple is truly ignorant, but it doesn't matter, since you're my good disciple."
"Of course not. The Spirit Realm is protected by a spirit array. Without a pass approved by the array setter, you simply cannot enter."
It turns out that the "certification passed" message didn't represent a technological assessment, but rather the spiritual array behind it—an entirely new term.
"Those officials were just envious; if they couldn't have something, they wanted to destroy it. Luckily, we've already driven them away together."
Fang Zhiyi wrinkled her nose, still somewhat unhappy as she recalled what had happened earlier.
"The existence of the Spirit Realm is extremely secretive, and no one would choose to make it public... Why would they do that? I really can't understand where they got this information from."
It seems the Lunar Eclipse Group, despite its great reputation, still doesn't have its own spiritual domain. Otherwise, why would these government officials bother with her for no reason? Is it just their nature?
Hearing her say this, Chu Jue seemed to be deep in thought.
As Chu Jue locked eyes with Fang Zhiyi, his moral compass began to crumble: "Aren't you afraid I'm a bad person for telling you all this?"
Fang Zhiyi's pupils dilated for a moment, as if her brain had been shocked. She nervously sniffed Chu Jue's scent before calming down and saying:
“I am your teacher, and I believe you would never treat your teacher like this.”
Mom's right, long-legged people really love teasing dogs. It's childish and annoying.
Chu Jue noticed something through her subtle movements: "You can judge a person's state or psychology by their sense of smell?"
"Hmm." Fang Zhiyi nodded proudly. "To be precise, it's 'emotions'. It's nothing serious, a small matter, a small matter."
Seeing her smug little face, Chu Jue was also influenced and relaxed: "That's amazing, Teacher Fang. If I learn from you, can I do that too?"
"Of course not." Fang Zhiyi patted the ground with her paw. "You're not a dog."
Humans actually think they can compare to dogs? That's talent, haha, something mere humans can't learn.
"Okay, then I'll learn something that others can learn." Chu Jue looked at Fang Zhiyi with hope, waiting for her to teach him something.
A beginner's guide to Reiki? Advanced fighting techniques? Or a guide to a life of luxury?
The man and the dog started staring at each other again.
"..."
Fang Zhiyi swallowed hard, her ears unconsciously daring to turn back, her dog-like eyes avoiding Chu Jue's gaze: "Um, I, I haven't learned anything that humans can learn..."
Chu Jue: ...
Okay. Dog Teacher.
"But, but! You can ask me anything you don't understand. You seem particularly ignorant. Uh, I mean... anyway, there's always something I can teach you."
Chu Jue: ...
Although she didn't say anything nice, she had achieved her goal. Chu Jue thought to herself, "Her morality has indeed declined somewhat since before; she actually set a trap to bully a dog here."
She followed Fang Zhiyi back not just to visit the Spirit Realm, but also to learn more about this strange planet from Fang Zhiyi.
Fang Zhiyi's voice suggests she is quite young, perhaps because she is a second-generation spirit, and she still retains some innocence.
She still had some affection for her because of what had happened before, and it was clear that she was just whining and was actually quite kind-hearted. She would even take the initiative to heal her wounds—but let's not talk about how she originally wanted to heal Fang Zhiyi's wounds, only to find that she was the one who was injured and that she couldn't heal herself.
Chu Jue found that Fang Zhiyi was easy to "coax": "Of course, since the teacher is so amazing, I do have some questions I want to ask."
"That's a piece of cake, no big deal. Don't hold back, don't be shy!"
She already knew how to get along with Fang Zhiyi, and with just three sentences, she got Teacher Gou to give her 20 million.
