Chapter 63

◎You can see anyone, but you can't see him.◎

To go from Jinshe Town to Wuyin Temple, taking the water route is faster and more convenient than taking the land route.

There happened to be a river in Jinshe Town. The river was not big, but there was a small pier. One could take a small boat from the town to the nearby big city, and then take a passenger ship of the caravan to the south.

On the day of leaving, An Jiu went to Golden Snake Villa and met Jin Yanwan.

"Yan Wan, have you started practicing martial arts?" An Jiu asked as soon as he saw Jin Yan Wan.

Jin Yanwan was surprised: "How do you know?"

An Jiu pointed at her palm and said, "Look at your hand."

Jin Yanwan stretched out her hand. Her originally fair and delicate hand was now covered with bloody scars. Those were the marks left after the blood blisters were punctured.

Jin Yanwan looked down, then smiled and retracted her hand: "It's just calluses from sword practice. I started learning sword late. If I don't work hard, how can I catch up with others who have laid a foundation for more than ten years?"

Seeing that there was no complaint in her expression, but only calmness, the melancholy from the past had disappeared without a trace, so An Jiu didn't say anything.

She knew that this was what Jin Yanwan was pursuing.

Jin Yanwan repeatedly reminded An Jiu: "You must remember what I said to you that day. Don't tell anyone else. I didn't even tell my father."

An Jiu nodded guiltily: "Okay, I definitely won't tell anyone."

The two of them talked briefly, and An Jiu told her that she was going to Wuyin Temple. Jin Yanwan gave her some money for the trip, and they agreed to meet next time, then they parted ways.

In fact, to be honest, they had only known each other for a few days, but they hit it off right away, so it can be said that they were destined to be together.

At the dock outside Jinshe Town, An Jiu, carrying a package on his back, stepped carefully on the wooden planks and walked onto the small boat.

There was only a small boat in Jinshe Town, the kind that could accommodate four or five people at most in the cabin. On the deck stood an old boatman wearing a straw raincoat, holding a bamboo pole in his hand, responsible for taking them to the nearby city.

An Jiu didn't want to squeeze into the small cabin, so after getting on board, he stood on the deck and turned to look at Pei Ji who was still on the shore behind him.

"How did you get up here?" she asked loudly.

Ah Qi chuckled and said, "Isn't this simple?"

After saying that, he held the wheelchair in both hands, jumped up, and flew lightly from the shore to the boat.

The heavy wheelchair landed on the deck without making any sound. Only the boat shook slightly, causing tiny ripples.

The boatman on the other side cheered, "Young man, you are really good at fighting."

Ah Qi Gong bowed and said, "Thank you for your compliment. Boatman, is there anything wrong with placing my young master's wheelchair at the bow?"

The boatman waved his hand and said, "Don't worry, I have been rowing for thirty years. No matter where he is, even on the top of the boat, I will never let him fall into the water."

"That's good." After Ah Qi said that, he went into the cabin very consciously, leaving only An Jiu and Pei Ji at the bow.

The boatman shouted, "Everyone hold on tight, the boat is leaving."

An Jiu quickly sat down on the deck next to Pei Ji's wheelchair and held the handle of his wheelchair.

"What are you doing?" Pei Ji asked.

An Jiu blinked and whispered, "I'm afraid if the boat starts to shake, you'll slip into the water."

However, even though she lowered her voice, the boatman not far away still heard it.

"Little girl, I am not called the old man in straw raincoat for nothing. You'd better watch out for me."

After he finished speaking, An Jiu felt the boat under him sway, and in an instant he slid forward rapidly like a leaf.

The old boatman was obviously a man of martial arts. With a long pole, he could control the boat as easily as if it were his arm. The boat nimbly avoided the hidden reefs and bends in the river and moved forward briskly.

This boat is indeed incredibly stable. It doesn't even shake, it feels like walking on flat ground.

An Jiu silently let go of the hand holding the wheelchair, turned his head as if nothing had happened, and pretended to look at the surrounding lake and mountains.

After watching for a while, he turned back and asked the young man in white clothes beside him: "Pei Ji, have you practiced that?"

"Which one?" Pei Ji looked puzzled.

"That's it!" Seeing that he didn't seem to understand, An Jiu leaned over to his ear, afraid that others would hear her. The martial artists here all had extremely sensitive ears. She almost stuck to his ear and whispered, "That's the secret book that can cure your leg!"

The girl was too close, and the air she exhaled when she spoke went into her earlobes. It felt like her ears were being rubbed by a warm little hand, and the itchy feeling went straight to the bottom of her heart.

Pei Ji leaned back slightly, putting some distance between them, and said with a light cough, "Not yet."

The girl's face suddenly showed a look of disappointment: "Hey, why don't you practice it yet!"

Pei Ji rubbed the slightly cool fan bone with his fingertips, his face expressionless, and said slowly: "Don't worry, it won't take a moment."

Seeing that he was taking his time, the girl seemed quite anxious. She glared at him fiercely and turned away angrily.

She sat with her back to him, and in a voice that anyone could hear, she cursed him, "Humph, the emperor is not anxious, but the eunuch is. Ah, I am not a eunuch... Damn Pei Ji, I wrote this down for you out of kindness, but you don't even appreciate it..."

The girl was mumbling over there. Pei Ji paused, but remained silent and did not try to coax her.

He had made up his mind not to indulge her as usual, so there was no way he would give in.

The words in the poem "The light boat has passed through ten thousand mountains" were indeed true. In just half the morning, they had arrived at a nearby city and boarded a large passenger ship.

There were rooms on the passenger ship. When the group was choosing rooms, An Jiu chose the one next to Lin Qingyan.

Perhaps it was to take revenge on Pei Ji for ignoring her in the morning. The eldest lady didn't even look at him along the way. Every time Pei Ji looked at her, she turned her head towards him, and her anger was quite obvious.

Even Lin Qingyan and He Ziqing noticed it and hinted to Pei Ji several times to coax the angry eldest lady.

Pei Ji just smiled and didn't take it to heart.

Based on his understanding of the eldest lady, she would be angry for only one night at most and then forget about it.

In the evening, the passenger ship stopped at a town along the way.

This waterway has many shallows and eddies, so for safety reasons, ships generally do not sail at night.

An Jiu was so angry that he didn't go out for dinner that night. He lay in bed waiting. After waiting for a long time, there was a knock on the door.

She smiled, walked briskly to the door and opened it, but what she saw was Ah Qi's face.

Anjiu's smile suddenly fell, "Why is it you?"

Ah Qi: "My master asked me to come here, Miss An, this is for you."

He pressed a package into her hand, wrapped in paper, which felt hot to the touch.

An Jiu said coldly: "Why doesn't he come himself?"

Ah Qi scratched his head and said cautiously: "Young Master, Young Master has something to do..."

An Jiu chuckled twice, picked up his things, and slammed the door.

As soon as the door closed, her expression changed and she hurriedly opened the paper bag in her hand. Inside were two big, hot, white and plump buns. They smelled delicious. She took a big bite and found that they were her favorite sauerkraut and meat buns!

Looking at the steam, as expected, it must have been just bought. There is no such fresh food on the boat.

An Jiu ate two buns in one breath, and his empty stomach finally stopped feeling empty.

In order to pretend to be angry today, she didn't even eat. She was really acting with her life.

After filling her stomach, An Jiu went to bed contentedly, but she didn't know that at this moment, there was someone in another room who was tossing and turning because of her.

"Sir, Miss An took the things over."

"Did she eat?"

"I don't know either. She closed the door." Ah Qi stole a glance at his master's expression and suggested, "Master, why don't you go and see Miss An? She just asked why you didn't go and see her in person."

Pei Ji was silent for a while, then slowly shook his head.

Ah Qi was a little puzzled: "Master, weren't you all fine this morning? Why are you so upset all of a sudden? You used to coax her with a kind voice, why are you angry with her now? Didn't you teach me not to be so picky with a spoiled girl?"

Pei Ji glanced at him and said calmly: "If you have nothing to do, go and have a rest."

Ah Qi curled his lips secretly. The young master couldn't answer this question, so he deliberately sent him away.

There was no choice but to leave reluctantly.

Alas, it is true that the emperor is not anxious, but the eunuch is anxious. If the wife is not coaxed, she will easily run away. Especially for someone like An Jiu, who has a good family background and is beautiful. To be honest, it is a blessing to be able to fall in love with his son.

Which ordinary lady from a noble family would look down on these martial artists?

Even though Ah Qi was a boastful young man who thought his son was unrivaled in the world, he had to admit that this marriage was indeed a case of his son marrying above his station.

Pei Ji sat alone in the room. In fact, he didn't quite understand why An Ji had been angry for so long?

Even he didn't quite understand why she was angry.

Was she angry at him for not knowing what was good for her? Or was she angry at him for not taking her kindness seriously? Or was she angry at him for not trying to comfort her in time?

Does it matter to her whether his legs are in good condition?

Why did she look as if she really wanted his leg to get better soon?

Pei Ji didn't understand. She used to call him a cripple and when she got angry she would call him a dead cripple.

The tone was disdainful and extremely dismissive.

Pei Ji couldn't figure out An Jiu's thoughts.

She was usually rude to him, so why did she care about him now?

An Jiu seems like a mystery.

Every time he thought he was beginning to understand her, she would reveal something a little different, leaving him confused once again.

Pei Ji thought about it for a long time, but still couldn't figure it out, so he simply gave up.

Whether she was angry or not actually had little to do with him.

There was no need for him to care.

He bought her food only because he was afraid that she would get hungry in the middle of the night and get up and bother him again.

This kind of thing has happened before, Pei Ji was just taking precautions in advance.

No matter whether she cried or made a fuss at night, he would not indulge her this time.

But to Pei Ji's surprise, the night was calm and nothing happened.

He even had a light sleep that night, prepared for her to come looking for him, but nothing happened.

The next morning, he came to the deck and saw the girl lying on the railing, looking at the rising sun over the river in the distance. The girl's red skirt fluttered in the golden red morning light, as if she was about to fly away with the wind.

Seeing him appear, the comfort on the girl's face suddenly disappeared, and she turned around without hesitation and went into the cabin without looking back.

Pei Ji finally discovered that this time An Jiu's anger had changed.

She no longer made a scene like before, forcing him to compromise. Instead, she ignored him and talked to everyone but him, as if she couldn't see him at all.

Those beautiful eyes could see everyone except him.

Pei Ji's fingertips pinched into his palm unconsciously and he realized it for the first time.

Although ignoring is silent, it seems to be more difficult to accept than outright anger.
