Chapter 128 The Angry Bion

Shirahoshi, the merman transformation laboratory.

Bion, as usual, walked into the laboratory that belonged exclusively to 1821.

It was still early, but there were already several researchers inside, who were about to take 1021 away using a mobile water tank.

Bion's heart skipped a beat. Weren't these people in charge of the initial expansion experiment? Why were they here? What were they going to do with 1021?

"What are you doing?" Bion asked, trying to keep his voice steady, afraid of revealing his worries. Here, his teacher, Kerry, had warned him long ago that he must never get emotional, not even in any way.

As a qualified laboratory technician, one must not be moved by any emotion and must treat these experimental subjects as inanimate objects.

Several researchers saw the identification tag hanging on Bion's chest and said respectfully, "Mr. Bion, hello! The experimental merman in the E-type water tank has just undergone surgery and is not in good condition. We have been ordered to take 1021 over to try and see if it can be saved."

Bion clenched his fists instantly, his hands behind his back.

Following the success of 1021, this time a total of twenty experimental water tanks were opened, named from A to T, with three to four thousand merfolk in each tank.

Bion had no right or standing to stop them, and could only watch helplessly as they took 1021 away. When he reached the door, he inadvertently met 1021's eyes.

Those eyes were devoid of desire, like a stagnant pool, unable to stir even the slightest ripple.

“You…” Bion blurted out instinctively, but then realized what he meant, “Please be extremely careful, 1021 is a matter of life and death for the entire project.”

Several lab technicians replied, "Yes! We understand!"

Bion watched 1021 leave without making a sound, as if he were an outsider, coldly observing everything.

Soon, 1021 was taken away.

Bion sat dejectedly on the stairs, unsure of what to do next...

Should he make a change? Or should he just let himself sink into despair?

Whenever Bion wanted to just drift along with the tide, the clear-headed little man in his mind would constantly nag him.

His conscience was always bothered by it.

Bion stayed there alone for two whole days, and on the morning of the third day, 1021 was sent back.

"What's wrong with him?" Bion asked anxiously.

Several lab technicians looked on with suspicion. Why were they so concerned about a test subject?

Bion then realized he had lost his composure.

"I... I saw that 1021 hadn't opened her eyes, so I thought..." Bion explained casually, "As you know, 1021 is the model for the entire project. The teacher repeatedly instructed that there couldn't be the slightest mistake..."

When Kerry was mentioned, these ordinary lab technicians showed great respect for Bion, saying, "It's only right, it's only right. Mr. Bion is always thinking of all of us."

"1021 was just too tired, she'll be fine after a rest."

"I just had a physical exam an hour ago, and there were no major problems." The team leader among the lab technicians stepped forward. "The physical exam report has been sent to you."

After seeing these people leave, Bion immediately took out his personal terminal to check 1021's medical examination report.

"Three ribs broken, both lower legs fractured, arm bones, fingers... left eyeball..."

As Bion looked at these shocking words, his fists slowly clenched. How could 1021 have suffered so many injuries in just two days?

Bion swiped the quantum computer rapidly, trying to figure out what they had taken 1021 to do.

Fortunately, the research was not a major secret, and Bion quickly found the answer.

After all the merfolk test subjects in the E-type experimental tank underwent surgery, they rose up in resistance and refused to cooperate. Thousands of merfolk banded together. The researchers did not want to use excessive force, fearing it would affect the experiment, so they thought of sending 1021 in to appease them.

However, 1021 has been completely transformed and no longer belongs to the merfolk; it is an anomaly.

Considering 1021's injuries, the answer is obvious.

"Ah—" Bion's eyes were bloodshot as he vented his anger, the quantum computer in his palm already shattered on the ground.
