Fu Xingchuan
After he was born, the whole family gathered around his mother and sister, while Fu Xingchuan stayed alone in the incubator. He didn't cry or make a fuss, as if he didn't want people to worry about him.
Later, when his mother and sister's conditions stabilized, people came to see him. He was very well-behaved and smiled whenever he saw someone.
Fu Songjin named his sister Zhu Sui'an, wishing her good health and freedom from worries every year.
Zhu Yu named him Fu Xingchuan. Born in the coldest winter, she hoped he would be the hottest sun in summer and have a smooth life.
In fact, Fu Xingchuan had never seen the strongest sun in summer. Since he could remember, he had been studying in indoor elite classes every day and had no free time during the summer vacation. His second uncle was extremely strict with him.
Because Zhu Sui'an was in poor health and his elder brother had no interest in the family business, the position of heir fell on him. He had to listen carefully in class and get the highest score in every subject.
For some reason, Fu Xingchuan had a fear from childhood. He was afraid that his crying would tire his parents, who were already upset about Zhu Sui'an. He was afraid that not getting the highest score would disappoint his disabled uncle. He was even afraid that he had taken up more space in his mother's womb and caused Zhu Sui'an's heart problems. So, as he grew up, he became skilled at disguising himself, hiding all these fears and expressing them to the extreme.
He felt that compared to Zhu Sui'an, he was the one with the real problem.
He pretended to be well behaved for the first thirteen years, but when he was fourteen, the physiological changes made it impossible for him to control them, and his mood and academic performance were greatly affected.
At night, he didn't want to sleep, and the desire to escape from home gradually occupied his mind. However, he knew that many people would be disappointed, so he simply took sleeping pills to force himself to sleep.
My mother noticed his abnormality and contacted my grandfather overnight. No matter how much my second uncle objected, she was determined to send them back to Nan'an.
Nan'an was like heaven to Fu Xingchuan at the time. His grandparents doted on him, and Zhu Sui'an was in good health, allowing him to travel the world. He could do whatever he wanted.
During that time, he thought he was crazy, like he was missing a rope. He fought all the thugs in the place, and every day he had injuries on his face or hands. Many people in the alley were afraid of him and avoided him.
It was just a stranger, Fu Xingchuan didn't care at all, but if it was someone close to him, he would start to withdraw. His eldest brother had an accident and flew over to see him with a bandage hanging on his head. He gently applied ointment to him and said, "Xingchuan, I understand you. It's okay, but remember to treat your wound in time to prevent infection."
The wound healed and then fell off again. Fu Xingchuan returned to school and attended classes honestly, only tampering with his skills when the hooligans provoked him.
Influenced by Zhu Sui'an, he fell in love with backpacking and would go out during both winter and summer vacations, usually taking the business class seat on the high-speed rail.
There was only one time when Zhu Sui'an mentioned that he was not feeling well and wanted to go back to Nan'an. He went back on a whim and there were no business class tickets or high-speed rail tickets available, so he took a hard seat home.
It was his first time in such an environment, and he didn't feel very comfortable. He wore a hat, read a book, and tried to block out other people.
When he relaxed his eyes, he accidentally glanced at the aisle. A striking white dress filled his vision. He looked up and saw a girl of the same age as him.
Looking at the princess dress, Fu Xingchuan couldn't help but think of Zhu Sui'an. She couldn't put her bag up, and even though the conductor was right next to her, Fu Xingchuan still stood up and helped her put it away.
Returning to his seat, he couldn't concentrate on the poem. He looked out the window at the scenery. Suddenly, he heard crying, the same tone as the one that had just said thank you to him. He turned his head and saw that it was indeed her crying.
Her voice, though deliberately subdued, still reached his ears. She sobbed for a long time. Fu Xingchuan was particularly curious. What had happened to her? Zhu Sui'an never cried, but this "sister" couldn't stop.
Fu Xingchuan was bored, so he put the cleaning bag on the small table and planned to write a poem.
Lacking inspiration, she paused writing, her tears lingering in her eyes. It wasn't until the train stopped at the platform that she finally stopped crying and left her seat.
Fu Xingchuan glanced at the empty seat, suddenly put down his pen and wrote a few words, then placed them on her seat.
Just as he put it down, the conductor passed by and Fu Xingchuan asked if he could take a soft sleeper. The conductor said yes, and he left.
What he didn't know was that the paper fell under the seat and the girl didn't see it.
He thought their fate had ended there, but who would have thought they would meet again not long after, and she would catch them fighting. He ran away quite fast, and Fu Xingchuan picked up the pendant she dropped and smiled.
She seemed quite afraid of him and walked slowly. It was late, and the alley was unsafe, so Fu Xingchuan walked home quickly.
He closed the door of the old house and saw her figure passing through the gap.
A few days later, Zhu Sui'an collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. Worried about the rush hour traffic, Fu Xingchuan hurried over on his bike. However, his bike had been damaged, the brakes failed, and he nearly hit someone on the corner.
The person stood up by herself, and Fu Xingchuan saw clearly that it was her. She looked at him for a few seconds and then burst into tears.
Her face was red and her crying sounded like she had a cold. Fu Xingchuan was worried that something might happen to her if he just left her there. Zhu Sui'an's grandparents were probably arriving soon, so he stayed with her.
She cried for a while, and then stopped when she realized the atmosphere was weird. Fu Xingchuan didn't have tissues with him, and she looked very embarrassed and must have been at a loss, so he took off his clothes and lent them to her to wipe her tears.
Fu Xingchuan rode away quickly on his bike. Fortunately, Zhu Sui'an was fine.
The door of Zhong Livehouse's dressing room opened and her figure emerged.
Fu Xingchuan, who was on the phone, caught a glimpse of someone out of the corner of his eye and blinked. She had bangs, and he didn't recognize her at first. It wasn't until Zhu Changyu spat out the sour orange that he realized her name was Lin Qiao.
There is actually a girl with the word "tiger" in her name, so special. Fu Xingchuan inexplicably felt that their names were quite compatible.
Zhu Sui'an insisted on transferring to No. 1 Middle School, and Fu Xingchuan arranged it for her. The principal and her grandfather were old friends, so he asked her to choose a class by himself. Fu Xingchuan said he wanted to be in the same class with Zhu Changyu.
By the way, I am in the same class with her.
He didn't like the seat Cheng Kaizhong arranged for him. It was too far forward and it was difficult for him to read under the teacher's nose, so he sat in the last row of the classroom.
Lin Qiao happened to be sitting in the front, and Fu Xingchuan was quite satisfied with this position, but his deskmate was Ruan Ye, who had once played tricks on him, which made him a little uncomfortable.
For some reason, he felt very unhappy with Ruan Ye.
Forget it, Ruan Ye can't beat him anyway. Fu Xingchuan raised his book and secretly looked at the new classmates, inadvertently glancing at Lin Luo's back.
In the physical education class, he also played table tennis with her. She seemed to be pretending not to know him, and Fu Xingchuan cooperated with her.
She had poor grades and was a bit shy, perhaps just a slow warmer. Zhu Changyu borrowed her Chinese answer sheet, and when Fu Xingchuan handed it to her, he saw tears in her eyes.
Why are you crying again?
In the car, Fu Xingchuan saw Lin Luo and Ruan Ye chatting and laughing, and he actually got angry. For the first time ever, he went to the evening study session. After sleeping through the class, he woke up to find Lin Luo's hair lying on his arm.
The shampoo smelled strangely pleasant. Fu Xingchuan wanted to smell it, but his head moved and he immediately woke up. He suddenly realized that he seemed to have some special feelings for Lin Luo.
After school, he took the bus with her on purpose. It didn't really matter whether she returned the clothes or not; that little bit of time wasn't a waste. But when he saw Lin Luo's smiling eyes like the bright moon, he changed his mind, "But maybe you can repay her with something else."
Lin Luo didn't understand his metaphor, her uncle came to pick her up, and Fu Xingchuan went home alone.
In June, Fu Xingchuan accidentally read Lin Luo's love letter and learned that she liked Ruan Ye. He even went into a cold war with her for a few days. Fu Xingchuan wanted to apologize, but unfortunately, he was caught in a fight with Lin Luo. She ran away, which must have made her hate him even more.
Fu Xingchuan sat on the steps with a stone in his hand, scratching his neck directly. He planned to send a photo to show his sympathy to Lin Luo and make peace with her.
But she came to find him, and Fu Xingchuan was particularly happy when she applied medicine to him. They had finally reconciled, and Fu Xingchuan didn't want to change back, so all his actions became cautious.
It was almost August, and the osmanthus flowers in the old villa had faded. The relationship between Lin Luo and Ruan Ye became better, so Fu Xingchuan swallowed all the budding feelings and the words he wanted to express his feelings to Lin Luo.
He originally hated Ruan Ye, but after some tentative attempts he discovered that he liked Zhu Sui'an, and his mood improved. He even invited them to come to his house for extra lessons during the summer vacation.
Lin Luo agreed, and Fu Xingchuan breathed a sigh of relief. However, Lin Luo had only consulted Ruan Ye, and only with Zhu Sui'an's arrival did he have the opportunity to explain the problem to her.
A few days ago, she had been in a fight and her wound hadn't healed yet. She had a Band-Aid on her neck, very close to him. Lin Luo was concentrating on her test paper, and for some reason he reached out and touched it.
When she looked at him, his heart was about to explode, but he pretended to be natural and said in a hoarse voice: "It's loose."
At that time, Lin Luo foolishly believed it.
In fact, she is not stupid, she just absorbs knowledge slowly. So when will she find out what he is thinking? Fu Xingchuan unconsciously drew a heart on her test paper, and when no one was paying attention, he quickly changed it to an abrupt 0.
They went to the amusement park, and the roller coaster reached its highest point, the wind whistling, and their adrenaline surged. Lin Qiao was sitting next to him, and Fu Xingchuan blurted out, "I like you."
Unfortunately, a man behind him screamed, completely covering up his voice, and Lin Luo didn't hear it.
Fu Xingchuan clearly heard his alarm, though. He'd booked it specifically because Lin Luo wanted to watch the sunrise, too. He couldn't manage to wake Ruan Ye or Zhu Changyu, who was clamoring to sleep on the floor with them. That day, Fu Xingchuan was surprised to find he was much less grouchy when he woke up.
The sea breeze blew by, and his brows relaxed. Until he saw Lin Luo, wet all over, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on someone, he hurried over to take over.
She saved someone and was very brave. Everyone praised her, but Fu Xingchuan just wanted to scold her. He said she was lucky this time. What if she didn't save the person and got herself into trouble? What would her family and friends do? What would he do?
After scolding her, he regretted it and should have praised her. Fu Xingchuan changed his clothes and went to the beach to find her and apologized to her. She suddenly asked him to write a poem. Looking at the hottest sun in the summer setting, Fu Xingchuan said to her: "Your long summer will never fade."
After returning to Nan'an, Fu Xingchuan took Lin Luo to the hospital. He didn't care about the infection at all. Later, her mother came and kicked them out of the ward.
Fu Xingchuan didn't leave. He sat in the park downstairs, looking up at the window of her hospital room from time to time. The moon was reflected on the glass. Fu Xingchuan blinked and saw Du Yunyan buying pears not far away.
He hurriedly put on his mask and hat, intending to take this opportunity to see Lin Luo. He climbed the stairs, but Du Yunyan, who was taking the elevator, was one step ahead of him and bumped into him at the door. Fortunately, she fell to the ground and didn't recognize him.
Fu Xingchuan helped Du Yunyan pick up the pears and put them in the ward. He successfully met Lin Luo. She fell asleep peacefully, and he felt relieved.
Just as he was about to leave, his eyes swept across the phone on the quilt and paused. The screen showed a chat interface with Ruan Ye. It seemed that she was waiting for his message before falling asleep.
The moonlight outside the window was hazy, blurring even Fu Xingchuan's image. He placed a photo of Lin Luo's back, taken by Tong Yun at the beach, in the pocket of his wallet and realized that to Lin Luo, he was just a backdrop.
At first, he'd been content to be a background presence, but to spare Lin Luo her sadness, he stepped in to help Tong Yun. Worried about the alley's darkness, he'd secretly follow her every day at a set time. When her uncle recovered, he even contacted someone to have the streetlights fixed. Hoping she'd improve, he attended classes attentively and took meticulous notes. He even drew a picture of the Little Prince and a rose on the last page of his notebook, hoping she'd understand his intentions.
Cheng Kaizhong signed her up for the 3,000-meter race at the sports meet. Fu Xingchuan switched shifts with the people in the broadcasting room and went to the stage to broadcast during the time she was supposed to run. He also carefully wrote a cheering message.
Unfortunately, he didn't read the manuscript himself. He accompanied Tong Yun to the hospital, wanting Lin Luo to concentrate on the competition. Having witnessed her progress in running during the summer vacation, Fu Xingchuan didn't want her to withdraw from the competition.
Looking at the blood on Tong Yun's knee, Fu Xingchuan thought of Lin Luo and wondered if she was injured.
He was worrying too much. Lin Luo simply loved to cry, and was never weak, but very strong.
That time, Fu Xingchuan deeply realized how important Tong Yun was to Lin Luo. He mobilized many of his connections to find Tong Xiuyuan and kept in touch with those people. He put down his phone, and Ding Wenxin and Lin Luo were both looking at him.
Finally, they went home together. Fu Xingchuan was in front, shielding Lin Luo from the wind, but she suddenly walked side by side with him. He gritted his teeth and said to Lin Luo, "Let's take the entrance exam to Peking University together! Ruan Ye will go too."
She agreed, most likely because of Ruan Ye.
Fu Xingchuan's heart was like the bare branches of the sycamore tree in the old villa, swaying in the cold wind. It was the first time he disliked winter so much.
He saw a sticky note she had written at the noodle shop, which said she wanted to go to Peking University with classmate Y. Rumors of Tong Yun and Fu Xingchuan's relationship were spreading around the school, and he wanted to clarify, but Lin Qiao didn't care at all. It didn't make any difference whether she explained it or not. Fu Xingchuan curled his fingers.
On Christmas Eve, he couldn't help but give her an apple, and not wanting her to find out, he deliberately wrote on the sticky note with his left hand.
After Lin Luo's birthday, Fu Xingchuan came back from Jinghe early and wanted to set off fireworks for her. However, he didn't expect that Lin Luo didn't like watching fireworks.
He always did things that she didn't need. She had her uncle to take care of her, Ruan Ye to teach her, and countless people to love her... He was very redundant. The only irreplaceable thing he did at that time seemed to be helping Tong Yun.
Fu Xingchuan went upstairs to find Tong Yun and asked her to go to the hospital for a check-up. Who knew that the diagnosis was leukemia. Fu Xingchuan leaned against the door of the corridor and listened to Tong Yun talking to Lin Luo while suppressing her tears.
If Lin Xiao knew about this, what would she do? Fu Xingchuan thought. When Tong Yun came out, he would tell her not to be afraid, that she could be treated, and he would help her.
During the Spring Festival of 2013, Fu Xingchuan heard from the doctor that Tong Yun's condition was quite serious. He was in a low mood. It was Lin Luo who called him and brought some joy to the New Year.
Fu Xingchuan was deeply touched when he heard her say Happy New Year. He hoped that he and Lin Qiao could say Happy New Year to each other next year, the year after, and every year thereafter. He did not ask for anything else.
