Rabbit Lamp
During the Mid-Autumn Festival, lanterns were hung in the old street and the government held a lantern festival. Tian Yajun's company was responsible for the planning and arrangement, and she was the main person in charge. Xu Yangyang took Lin Luo to go with her to support her.
Xu Yangyang saw Tian Yajun from a distance and ran over to interrupt her work in the name of giving her guidance.
Lin Luo was dazzled by the various traditional lanterns, but the most eye-catching thing in the whole scene was still the moon, big and round, hanging high in the sky.
Lin Luo looked up and suddenly recalled last year's Mid-Autumn Festival. She had celebrated the festival with the Fu family. It was their family tradition to take a family photo before eating during festivals.
There is a special wall hung with family photos, and the time is marked under each frame. Her eyes move along the timeline, looking at each photo.
Finally, it stopped in front of the photo taken during the 2013 Spring Festival. In the picture, Fu Xingchuan and Zhu Sui'an were not looking at the camera, but their eyes were on their phones.
At that moment, Fu Xingchuan came over. She lowered her mouth and asked, "What are you looking at?"
Yeah? What are they looking at?
"Are you watching the moon?" Fu Xingchuan's voice fell into her ears. Lin Luo came back to her senses and saw him standing in front of her, wearing a black coat.
"Why are you here?" Shouldn't you be reuniting with your family?
"Secretary Zhang invited me to the Lantern Festival."
Lin Luo didn't know the Secretary Zhang he was talking about, but she knew that they had just met by chance.
"Gone." Fu Xingchuan glanced at her.
Lin Xiao responded calmly, "Yeah."
He and Lin Luo passed each other, and he had the familiar scent of osmanthus on him. The laces on the back of his coat were blown up by the wind and scratched the back of her hand, making her feel itchy.
She walked behind him, parading with the crowd, her shadows on the ground sometimes dense, sometimes sparse.
When she looked up again, Fu Xingchuan had disappeared into the crowd. She felt inexplicably lost.
Everyone came in groups, and Xu Yangyang left her to quarrel with Tian Yajun. Although they have a good relationship now, they feel uncomfortable if they don't quarrel for three days.
The moon was too far away from her. Lin Luo stood on the street, slightly raised her head to look at it, as if it was getting farther and farther away.
Not far away at the end of the street, there was a teddy bear holding a bundle of balloons for sale. The person inside was not tall, and I couldn't tell if it was a child or a girl. The teddy bear's head seemed very heavy. As soon as he sold the balloons to the child, the person took off the teddy bear's head.
Lin Luo got a closer look at the man, a middle-aged man with obvious burn scars on his face. The child, frightened by his appearance, let go of the balloon, allowing it to rise into the air and disappear into the darkness.
The child was crying, and the parent carried him away. Other parents with children saw this and also walked away.
The man seemed to be hunched over in the doll costume, and even the scars on his face could not hide his loss. Lin Luo walked over and wanted to help him.
A tall shadow appeared on the ground and passed by her. Lin Luo saw Fu Xingchuan get to the man first.
They talked for a while, and then Fu Xingchuan led the man to a chair not far behind him and took the doll head and balloon from him. "Please sit down, I'll help you sell them!"
"Thank you."
Fu Xingchuan wore a doll's head and turned into a bear in a suit. He walked to the street with balloons and asked the children one by one if they wanted balloons.
Lin Luo walked to the other side of the bench and sat down. The man was sweating, so she handed him some water and paper.
"Thanks."
She asked softly, "Uncle, why don't you celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with your family today?"
"Today is my daughter's birthday. I want to take advantage of the large crowds at the Lantern Festival to sell some balloons so I can buy her a birthday cake."
He spoke uncomprehendingly, but noticing Lin Luo's gaze, he explained, "I was born with a bone defect, so I'm relatively short. A few days ago, our house caught fire, leaving scars on my face. I don't wear this outfit for fear of scaring the children."
With a barely noticeable smile, he lowered his eyes, sighed, and said, "My daughter is probably the only child in this world who isn't afraid."
"She must be very happy to have a father like you who loves her so much." Lin Luo comforted him.
"I see that young man is wearing a formal suit. Do you know him?"
Lin Luo looked over and saw his back as he solicited customers. It looked so familiar.
She was stunned for a moment and replied, "I know her."
After Fu Xingchuan finished selling the balloons, he turned around and Lin Luo watched him walking towards her. It was as if she was back to that June when she graduated from college. There was also a man walking towards her in a doll costume, writing on a piece of paper whether she could hug him.
Lin Qi stood up. Fu Xingchuan took off his hood and tucked it into his side, saying nonchalantly, "What a coincidence! We meet again."
"Yes!" Lin Luo stared into his eyes, which seemed brighter than the moon above their heads.
The silvery moonlight sprinkled on his head, and his whole body seemed to be filled with light.
Lin Luo blinked and said, "I have something else to do, so I'll leave first."
She left in a hurry. Fu Xingchuan looked at her figure. A gust of wind blew up the things behind her. He remembered that the rabbit lantern had not been sent out yet!
The moon was so bright that it was blinding. Lin Luo returned home and turned her gaze from the window back to her mobile phone.
She opened the dialog box with Wen Zenian and what came into view was the last chat record, [Senior brother, is it me that you have always had a crush on? ]
NIAN: [Yes. 】
Lin Xiao: [Sorry, I didn’t notice.]
NIAN: [Lin Xiao, I saw on the news that you're divorced. Can you give me a chance?]
Lin Xiao: [I'm sorry, I haven't sorted out my thoughts yet, and I'm afraid I can't enter into a new relationship. Senior Brother, you've always been so kind to me. I rely on you like a real brother, and I have no other thoughts.]
NIAN: "It's okay. Why apologize to me? I've been slowly sorting out my feelings for you since you got married. There's nothing wrong with being siblings. It might even last longer than a husband-wife relationship. If you have any problems, just come to me. I'll help you out, just like before."
Lin Xiao: [Okay, it’s a deal.]
Five months later, he sent me a message, "Lin Qiao, I'm married."
It was with that lovely florist.
Lin Qi: [Congratulations, Senior!]
After checking the time, it wasn't too late, so she shouldn't have disturbed his rest. Lin Qi sent him a message, "Brother, I need your help with something."
After a while, he came back and soon sent what Lin Luo wanted, which was the graduation albums of Peking University from previous years.
The 2017 Peking University graduation ceremony happened to coincide with that of Nanjing University. Lin Luo looked through all the medical school graduation photos but couldn't find Fu Xingchuan.
At that time, it was definitely him.
Lin Luo fell on the bed, thinking wildly. This means that the earliest time Fu Xingchuan had evidence of falling in love with her was when they were in college.
Why didn't he tell me? Because he was going abroad?
The next day, she planned to find Fu Xingchuan to ask him about it after get off work, but unfortunately, she had to go on a business trip.
There was an outbreak of YMI infectious disease in Huaicheng. Nan'an was close to Huaicheng, so their institute organized a team to provide assistance on a voluntary basis. Deputy Director An took her previous illness into consideration, so the research team did not contact her for the meeting on this matter.
But Wu Yun accidentally let the cat out of the bag, and Lin Luo volunteered to go, and no one could stop her, so she got on the bus to Huaicheng.
Sitting in the car, Lin Luo was thinking. In fact, she had always been quite courageous. Maybe it was because of her tear incontinence when she was a child that she did not appear brave. But now she felt more and more that she had achieved what she had hoped before, and even exceeded her expectations.
Life needs to burn. If it burns out one day, Lin Luo will only feel that it is worth it.
This time, she still didn't tell anyone about her trip to the front line. When she drove into Huaicheng, the sky was gray and the windows were foggy. Lin Luo wiped them clean with her hands, and the fog turned into water and fell down the glass like rain.
This time, Lin Luo and his colleagues concentrated on studying the virus in the laboratory and did not go to the isolation ward.
I heard that many medical staff and volunteers also came to Huaicheng from all directions. Lin Luo and they contributed their strength in different positions.
Wu Yun's ex-boyfriend, a doctor, worked in the isolation ward, so she kept a close eye on what was happening there. "Have you heard? A few days ago, a patient in Isolation Ward 3 got agitated and ripped off the doctor's mask. They even started fighting. A lot of medical staff got infected!"
Lin Luo shook her head, saying she hadn't heard of it, but her right eyelid was twitching.
After a busy day, Lin Luo finally took off her mask and protective suit and returned to the hotel. She lay on the bed, exhausted. Suddenly, she remembered that it was the mini colored pencil drawings that a stranger gave her every day during the fight against the epidemic that kept her going.
Lin Luo smiled faintly, and her cell phone vibrated violently, making her heart uneasy again.
She picked up the phone, "Sui'an, what's wrong?"
Her voice was urgent. "Fu Xingchuan went to Huaicheng as a volunteer. I saw online that he was infected, and he didn't answer my calls. Lin Xiao, where are you?"
"I'm in Huaicheng." Lin Luo stood up immediately and spoke faster, "I'll go find him."
It was almost twelve o'clock and she was running towards the hospital on the road wearing a mask. There was no one around her and it was silent. The only sounds in her ears were the sound of the wind and slight breathing.
Lin Luo suddenly became scared. It didn't matter to her for herself to sacrifice, but nothing could happen to Fu Xingchuan, a man who loved life so much.
The wind was so strong that she ran against it. The wind pressed on her eyes, causing tears to fall and keep falling.
The hospital was so quiet in the early morning hours that only the beeping of the ECG monitor could be heard. Lin Mei's face was covered in tears, soaking her mask. The person on duty wouldn't let her into the isolation ward, but they did get her a new mask. To be on the safe side, they also asked her to disinfect and put on protective clothing.
She was led to the farthest ward and saw Fu Xingchuan through a pane of glass. He was wearing protective gear and turning a patient over inside, while Lin Luo stood there silently watching him.
After he finished his work, he noticed her and walked over slowly, as if he had something to say. Lin Luo looked at his figure, which was exactly the same as in her memory.
She couldn't help but shed tears again.
His eyes were incredibly red.
Fu Xingchuan's phone was out of battery and turned off. He found a piece of paper and a pen and asked her: "Why are you here?"
Lin Xiao called from her cell phone, "The news says you're infected."
Fu Xingchuan: [No, it was another volunteer.]
Lin Xiao: [That scared me.]
Lin Luo was tired, so she sat down against the wall, and Fu Xingchuan also sat next to her.
As I got closer, I could see her red eyes under her goggles, like rabbits. [You came to me because you were worried.]
Lin Qi: [Sui'an called me, so I came over on my way.]
Fu Xingchuan: [Aren’t you off work at this time?]
How did he know? Lin Xiao's heart tightened. "You came here because of me?"
【What are you thinking! I am doing this to show my love.】
[Oh, that epidemic was also for charity]
He wrote for a long time, paused for a moment, and then showed it to her. "That time it was for you, and this time too, I want to fight alongside you."
Lin Luo felt that her mask was soaked with tears again.
Fu Xingchuan curled his eyes, as if smiling, and said, "Thank goodness we donated a lot of protective suits, otherwise there wouldn't be enough for you to cry about."
Lin Qi stopped sobbing and said, "It's already this late, and you still have the mind to joke around."
Fu Xingchuan comforted her: "Don't be afraid, we will definitely get through this."
The trees are starting to shed their leaves now. Winter is over and the New Year will soon arrive.
