This spring
In early spring in March, the air is filled with spring and the gentle wind blows across the small puddles remaining on the ground, creating ripples.
Lin Luo stood within the yellow line of the high-speed rail platform, with a small white suitcase standing next to her, and a large pink luggage bag placed bulkily on top of the suitcase.
This was her first time riding a high-speed train, traveling alone, and she was a little nervous. Before the train even arrived, she double-checked the platform display, the color of the landmarks on the ground, and the location of the train cars.
It was ten o'clock in the morning and the sun was shining brightly. The [Shanghai Station] sign was hung in the center of the platform, blocking part of the sunlight. The golden light was particularly dazzling and Lin Luo could not see the words on it clearly.
There was a rumbling sound behind her as the train pulled into the station, its rapid speed bringing with it a gust of wind. The wind ruffled Lin Luo's hair, but it didn't smooth out her frown. Instead, the rustling sound against the tracks only made her more nervous.
The bus stopped and the doors opened. The passengers lined up and got on the bus one by one. Lin Luo stood at the end of the line, holding her suitcase. She looked at the bus stop sign again.
The sun didn't move, and she still couldn't see the words clearly. So she said goodbye to the city where she had lived for more than a decade.
After getting on the bus, she placed her small suitcase behind the last row of seats. She carried her large luggage bag and looked for a seat, the seventh row, the sixth row, the fifth row, and her seat was 05A.
Stopping in the aisle between rows 5 and 6, Lin looked up at the shelf, intending to put her bag on. She supported the sides of the bag with both hands and slowly lifted it up, but just lifting it seemed to exhaust all her strength, so the bag could not be put on and kept sliding down.
Lin Luo sighed and caught a glimpse of the uniformed conductor from the corner of her eye. Just as she was about to put her bag down and ask for his help, a pair of fair, bony hands first held her bag. A lazy, low voice echoed in her ears: "I'll do it."
Lin Luo stood aside. The man, a tall man wearing a loose black sweatshirt and a hood, leaned over to help her put her luggage. The hood was so large that it obscured his face. Lin Luo could only see a white headphone cable hanging in the air, dangling with his movements.
"Thanks."
"It's okay." The man answered and left. Lin Luo didn't pay any more attention to him and sat in her seat.
Seat A was next to the window, and her face was reflected in the glass. She was wearing a white dress with a black bow at the neckline, and above that, a delicate and small face.
She has a pure and sweet appearance, with soft facial lines and fair skin. The most eye-catching thing is her eyes, with thin and thick eyelashes, and her eyes are crystal clear like glass beads. Now the corners of her eyes are slightly red, which makes people want to protect her.
The destination of Lin Luo's trip was Nan'an. She was not going on vacation, but to return to live with her biological mother Du Yunyan.
Yesterday, she was the carefree eldest daughter of the Lin family, spoiled and raised in luxury by her father, a daughter-servant. But overnight, her family went bankrupt.
It may not have happened overnight. Her father, Lin Dayong, had planned it long ago. He bought her a high-speed rail ticket, entrusted her to Du Yunyan, and went abroad himself. It was only when she couldn't find Lin Dayong today and saw the note he left behind that she realized it.
Lin Xiao unfolded the wrinkled note in her hand. On it was written Lin Dayong's ugly and elegant handwriting, which read: Princess Xiaoxiao, Daddy is sorry for you staying with Mommy for a while. When everything gets better, Daddy will take you home as soon as possible.
She clutched the light piece of paper tightly in her hand, reading it over and over again. Her parents divorced when she was six, and her mother remarried. Because she didn't want to disturb her, Lin Luo only spoke to her two or three times a year at most.
Lin Dayong knew that she and Du Yunyan had a bad relationship, but he still abandoned her. It was simply a betrayal. Thinking of this, she got angry, crumpled the note into a ball, took out her phone and sent a message to Lin Dayong.
She typed in the message box, "You traitor, I will never forgive you." After looking at it for a while, she changed it to "Traitor, I will not forgive you easily." Finally, she sent out "Dad, I will be obedient. You have to come pick me up soon."
Looking at the screen full of blue dialog boxes without a single reply, a tear as big as a bean fell from her eye and landed on the phone with a plop.
The train started moving, and the scenery outside the window had changed from high-rise buildings to continuous mountains and water towns. Occasionally, a few cherry trees appeared next to the track guardrails. Against the backdrop of sunlight, the pink petals sparkled with a dreamy brilliance, like elves dancing.
This was a train bound for spring, but Lin Luo didn't even look out the window because her eyes were blurred by tears.
The cell phone rang, and Lin Luo quickly took a piece of paper to wipe the screen, but she still couldn't see clearly. She then remembered to blink her eyes to let the tears flow out.
Now she saw clearly, but unfortunately it was not Lin Dayong calling, but Du Yunyan's "routine" inquiry call.
"Hello, are you in the car?" As soon as the call was connected, Du Yunyan's powerful voice burst out of the screen.
The train had been on for more than three hours and would arrive in Nan'an in just a few stops. Lin Luo choked up and said "hmm".
"Be careful on the road, call me when you get there."
"good."
The other party hung up the phone. Just then, the train arrived at a station and stopped. The people in the two seats next to her got off, so Lin Luo decided to go wash her face.
Turning her head, she saw the man who had just helped her put her luggage in seat F in the same row. He was still wearing his hat and holding a book with a white cover emblazoned with the words "Selected Poems of Haizi" in black.
Lin Luo was not interested in books, but became curious about the man's appearance.
She raised her gaze and saw the man facing the window. His face was reflected in the window, but she couldn't see it clearly because of the backlight on his side. So she withdrew her gaze and went to the sink at the end of the car to wash her face.
After washing her face, a flight attendant pushed a cart past her. She bought a bottle of orange juice to give to the man as a thank you gift, but when she walked back to the fifth row, she found that the man was no longer in his seat and his bag was nowhere to be found. He must have gotten off the bus.
So the destination is different! Lin Luo glanced at the orange juice in her hand and returned to her seat.
More than an hour later, they arrived at Nan'an Station. Lin Luo pulled her suitcase out of the station. As soon as she walked out of the station and hadn't taken a good look at the scenery of Nan'an, her attention was attracted by someone.
Right in front of her, a girl of the same age was chasing a thief. The girl was wearing a white school uniform and had a high ponytail. She ran hard, her movements were large, but her expression was not broken, and the youthful aura was overwhelming.
The thief couldn't run any longer, so the girl easily tackled him to the ground. The owner of the stolen goods came over, thanked the girl, and took the thief away. Perhaps sensing someone's gaze, the girl looked over, meeting Lin Luo's gaze.
Lin Luo walked over to her, took out a pack of tissues from his pocket and handed it to her, pointing at her hand: "You are hurt."
The girl looked down at her hand. She had just wiped the side of her hand on the ground, and the skin was a little broken and bleeding. She took the tissue and said to Lin Luo, "Thank you!"
"You're so beautiful and amazing!" Lin Xiao smiled at the girl with her eyes curved. Influenced by Lin Dayong, she was never stingy with her compliments.
But the girl did not let her praise eliminate the distance between her and her. "Thank you. I'll be leaving now."
"Um."
As the girl left, a message popped up on Lin Luo's phone. It was from Du Yunyan: "Your uncle has something to do at work. I'm going to pick up your brother from kindergarten. Please take a taxi back."
Suddenly feeling her eyes a little dry, Lin Luo turned off the screen, went back into the station and walked towards the taxi waiting area.
By the time they reached Changlin Lane, the sun had already set and dusk had settled in. Pale pink clouds dotted the sky, like a sea of brilliant flowers. It was the first time Lin Luo had witnessed such a romantic sunset.
There were not many people in the alley, and the sound of the suitcase wheels rolling on the ground seemed to be amplified. Lin Luo was looking forward to her future life, but she was also vaguely worried.
There was a straight staircase at the corner, with grass sprouting between the steps. On the platform in the middle stood two people, one tall and one short. The short one was very thin, wearing a tight leather jacket that looked baggy. He had a scar on his face and a cigarette in his mouth.
The tall man looked a little dazed, fanning his nose with his hand. After blowing away the smoke exhaled by the shorter man, he asked, "Brother Long, why are we here? Fu Xingchuan's house is nearby. Aren't you afraid of running into him?"
"Why should I be afraid of him doing anything?" Chen Long said disdainfully.
"Didn't you tamper with his car? We'll be in big trouble when he comes back." The tall man didn't notice that Chen Long's face turned ugly when he spoke. "Have you forgotten how badly you were beaten last time..."
Before he could finish his words, Chen Long slapped him on the back of the head, frowned, and shouted, "No, which side are you from?"
Lin Luo was startled by the sudden loud voice and looked over there.
The person shouting looked ferocious, and the one next to him was tall and strong. What they had just said proved that they were not good people. She was even more afraid to go upstairs. But she didn't know any other way, so she had to bite the bullet and go up.
Lin Luo gripped the handle of the suitcase tightly, lifted the suitcase and bag with great effort, and slowly climbed the stairs along the edge, her eyes focused on the ground, as if the two people did not exist.
When she passed the platform, she quickened her pace, but Chen Long still noticed her. He walked towards her casually and asked, "Sister, do you want my help?"
"No need." Lin Luo didn't look at him directly and continued to go up the stairs.
Chen Long casually threw the cigarette on the ground and stood on the stairs two steps higher than her, blocking her way. He bent down and pretended to help her with the box. "You're welcome. I love helping others the most."
Lin Xiao dodged his outstretched hand, her expression full of disgust, and snapped, "Don't touch me."
"I'll just touch it." Chen Long pouted his cheek and laughed crookedly, "What can you do to me?"
As he spoke, he stretched out his hand again. The tall man quickly came over to stop him, "Brother Long, are you crazy? You're molesting a little girl in broad daylight. What if someone sees you?"
"You're mentally retarded! I'm a XXX, not a good citizen."
He pushed the tall man away. Lin Luo tried to escape, but he found her and grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms. Lin Luo was quick-witted and stepped on him hard.
Chen Long let go of her in pain. Lin Luo didn't care about her luggage and ran downstairs quickly. He scolded her behind her. She looked down at the stairs, afraid that she would miss a step and fall, and be caught up by him.
"Lin Xiao." Someone called her name, and she looked up. In front of her was a strange middle-aged man, and there was no sound of thugs. She thought he had escaped, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
Tang Heng had seen a photo of Du Yunyan and her daughter before. The girl in the photo was five years old and had a cute smile that was very impressive, so he recognized Lin Luo the first time he saw her.
"What's wrong?"
Lin Luo's physical condition was poor, and she would be out of breath after running a few steps. She bent down to catch her breath, and at the same time thought that the middle-aged man she met here who knew her name could only be Du Yunyan's current husband.
Only after her breathing evened out did she straighten up and speak, "It's okay, Uncle Tang."
"Go home!" Tang Heng said lightly.
It wasn't what she'd imagined. He didn't hesitate to ask if Lin Qi was tired, if she'd rested in the car, if she'd had a good lunch, or anything like that. She felt that Tang Heng and Lin Dayong were two extremes: one taciturn and silent, the other witty and talkative.
Lin Luo turned around and saw Tang Heng had already reached the platform of the stairs. He took her luggage and climbed the stairs very easily. She hurried to follow him.
Only after going upstairs did Lin Luo see the true appearance of Changlin Lane. The road and houses he had just seen were just the tip of the iceberg.
On the way, they passed an old villa with milky white walls, light pink ceramic tiles, clear and smooth glass windows, and a tall sycamore tree with green leaves and new buds. It was even more magnificent than the single-family villa where Lin Luo lived in Shanghai.
Lin Luo smelled a delicate fragrance, and upon closer inspection, she discovered several osmanthus trees in the yard. Nan'an's spring was warm, and the osmanthus blossoms were blooming quietly, their small blossoms blooming in clusters, filling the area for miles with their scent.
Lin Luo immediately calmed down and walked forward firmly.
The gentle voice of an old man came from the old house behind him, "Xingxing is back?"
"Um."
Someone responded, and the voice sounded familiar. Lin Luo turned around, and saw an empty alley with no one else in sight. Only the wind was blowing and the osmanthus flowers were falling.
