Chapter 108 Encounter

Chapter 108 Encounter

Several months had passed, and He Shixu thought he had long forgotten about this person, but unexpectedly, upon seeing him again, his expression unconsciously changed.

Her face, without any makeup, was incredibly smooth and dewy.

I don't know what she was saying to Li Yue beside her, but her eyes were sparkling.

He raised an eyebrow slightly, and looking at that face, his vexed mood inexplicably improved a little.

After the two left, He Shixu turned his gaze back, lifting his eyelids to look at the man in front of him: "Where are the freshmen's information?"

He Jiangzhou looked at the person in front of him who hadn't responded to his questions for a while, and then suddenly asked, "What do you need this for?"

"Natural things are useful."

He Shixu looked at the student files on the computer, his eyes showing a hint of interest and a touch of irritation that he himself was unaware of.

He was initially curious about where Zhou Yanchuan had found such a girl, but now he discovered that the two of them had actually been in the same school since elementary school.

"Childhood sweethearts."

*

As the college entrance examination approached, Wen Jiu became anxious before Zhou Yanchuan. She began to suffer from insomnia and nightmares night after night.

In her dream, it was the alley in front of her house, pitch black with only her there, and no matter which way she walked, she could never reach the end.

Looking at the increasingly dark circles under the girl's eyes beside her, Li Yue sent a message to Jin Yiyan asking if he knew any doctors who treated insomnia.

She sent the message and received a reply some time later.

Jin: "I know a traditional Chinese medicine doctor, should I take her to see him?"

Upon seeing the message, Li Yue turned to the girl next to her who was doing her homework and asked, "Are you free this Saturday, sweetie?"

Yes, what's wrong?

"Let me take you to the hospital to get checked out. Insomnia isn't a good solution."

Wen Jiu knew that the person was worried about her, and since she had originally planned to go and see her anyway, she nodded and said, "Okay."

*

On Saturday, Wen Jiu and Li Yue went downstairs together, only to find out that Jin Yiyan was involved when they reached the dormitory entrance.

She thought they were going to the hospital together, but when she went downstairs and saw the car parked on the side of the road, she realized that she had asked him to find a traditional Chinese medicine doctor.

Wen Jiu didn't want to trouble this person. She wanted to leave, but leaving now would definitely not be good for Li Yue, so she still gritted her teeth and went to the car.

Unexpectedly, as soon as she opened the car door, her eyes met He Shixu's.

She was slightly taken aback.

Li Yue was also briefly stunned when she saw the man sitting in the back row.

Jin Yiyan explained to her, "We just got together. When I heard that he needed to see a traditional Chinese medicine doctor, he happened to be feeling a bit unwell, so we came together."

"I see."

*

It was a foggy, rainy day.

He Shixu didn't say anything, he just stared blankly at the person by the car door.

His lips twitched slightly, but he quickly regained his composure, looking calmly into her eyes: "Aren't you getting in the car?"

Meeting those dark eyes, Wen Jiu hesitated for a moment before leaning over to get into the car.

As she sat down, a faint, cool fragrance wafted to her nose, and she reached for her seatbelt.

He Shixu's gaze lingered on the small patch of blue under the girl's eyes.

She looked a bit more haggard than the last time I saw her.

*

The old Chinese medicine doctor lived in a rather remote location. The group walked around for quite a while before finally arriving at the place. There was a plaque at the entrance, but it was too small and faded, with only the two characters "Renji" remaining.

However, although the door was old and worn, it was very clean.

There was a hint of uncertainty in Li Yue's eyes. Jin Yiyan chuckled and said, "This is it. The old gentleman prefers quiet, so he specifically found a place where there aren't many people to stay."

He went up and knocked on the door.

A girl opened the door, wearing a modern Chinese-style blouse, with shoulder-length hair. She peered at them from behind the door, asking with a puzzled look, "Who are you looking for?"

Before Jin Yiyan could speak, a questioning voice came from inside the house: "Is that the Jin family's kid?"

The girl behind the door looked up at Jin Yiyan, who was standing in front of her.

He chuckled and replied to the old man, "Yes."

"Come in then," Su Ling said, opening the door.

The group followed the girl into the courtyard.

The scene before my eyes was like a flowing scroll painting.

In this space, raindrops patter against the green tiles, ripples spread across the surface of the pond, and in the distance, under the lights, white walls cast shadows of bamboo.

They were led to a room that appeared to be a pharmacy. As soon as they entered, a strong smell of herbs filled the air.

The room was not brightly lit, and the old-fashioned wooden counter was polished to a shiny luster by the years. The names of Chinese medicines were neatly pasted in front of each small drawer.

"Please wait here for a while, Grandpa will be there soon."

The girl at the door left those words behind, as if she had completed her mission, and turned and walked away without looking back.

The four of them looked at each other for a moment, and Jin Yiyan was the first to come to her senses. She smiled and said, "You guys find some chairs to sit on, I'm going out for a smoke."

Shortly after he left, an aged yet steady voice entered the room.

"Hey kid, don't spill your cigarette ash on my herbs."

"No," came Jin Yiyan's voice, tinged with a smile.

Wen Jiu turned her head and saw an elderly man with white hair. He looked to be in his seventies, but he still seemed very energetic.

"Who among you needs to see a doctor?" was the first thing the old man said as he entered the room.

Wen Jiu whispered, "Me."

The old man glanced at her, raised his hand to take her pulse, and after a while, slowly said, "It's not a big problem."

Upon hearing that the problem wasn't serious, Wen Jiu was about to breathe a sigh of relief, but before she could relax, she was stunned by the second half of the sentence.

"A few acupuncture needles will do."

Her lips twitched, and she whispered, "Do you want an acupuncture?"

The girl asked so cautiously that it was hard not to guess what she was thinking.

Li Yue was taken aback at first, then laughed: "Baby, you're not afraid of needles, are you?"

Wen Jiu pursed her lips: "Can't we just get the medicine directly?"

"Acupuncture is effective."

He Shixu glanced at the girl, his hand hanging at his side began to tremble without him noticing.

They seemed genuinely afraid.

Just when he thought she would hesitate for a while, he suddenly heard her say, "Then let's do it."

The scene of the first time he met her inexplicably flashed into He Shixu's mind.

Quietly, she looked at the person beside her with a heart full of reliance.

For some reason, I thought she was spoiled at the time, but now I think it was because Zhou Yanchuan was there.

Wen Jiu thought she would be very scared, but to her surprise, when the needle pricked her, the face that appeared before her eyes was no longer Wen Chengyu's, but the face of Zhou Yanchuan when he held her hand during the physical examination.

After the acupuncture treatment ended, she walked out of the room and immediately made a video call to someone.

"Zhou Yanchuan."

"Um."

"Look at my arm."

Zhou Yanchuan looked at the arm extended in front of the camera on the screen, and upon closer inspection, noticed several small needle marks. He frowned and asked, "What happened?"

"I had acupuncture, wasn't that amazing? I wasn't scared this time," a child boasted to his parents.

Zhou Yanchuan paused for a few seconds, then smiled and said "Impressive," before asking, "Where do you feel unwell?"

"I'm not feeling unwell," Wen Jiu was about to say that she was treating her menstrual cramps when she suddenly heard footsteps behind her.
