Chapter 131 Why is he still so stupid?

Chapter 131 Why is he still so stupid?

Wen Jiu paused in her steps when she saw the two people standing in front of her. Under the dim light, the man was tall and handsome, and the girl in front of him wore a fiery red dress.

Her gaze lingered on their intertwined wrists for half a second before slowly shifting away and walking toward the sofa.

Xiao Rou was initially feeling uneasy, but seeing the woman approaching, she inexplicably felt a little more at ease: "Sister Jiu Jiu."

When Li Yue saw the person who suddenly appeared, she frowned. Judging from her assistant Xiao Rou's reaction, she guessed it was her calling again. It was fine if she called on ordinary days, but on this special day...

Li Yue got up from the sofa to greet the person.

Wen Jiu's gaze fell on that beautiful face, and when she saw the bloodstain on her chin, she frowned: "Sit on the sofa."

Only she could make these words effective. Li Yue obeyed and did as she was told. Wen Jiu took the ointment from Xiao Rou's hand, which hadn't been applied yet, and lowered her head.

Seeing that someone was willing to apply the medicine, Xiaorou finally breathed a sigh of relief. At least the medicine was applied. But before she could fully relax, she saw the man not far away and started to raise his voice again.

The tall figure appeared slender and elegant in the dim light, and with its deep-set eyes and brows, it gave the impression of deep affection when it looked at people quietly.

He was looking at the woman beside her. Xiao Rou thought to herself, "Oh no, this phone call has implicated my sister Jiu Jiu too."

The next second after she had this thought, she heard an arrogant female voice: "Don't you know that our filming is confidential? Non-professionals are not allowed to enter."

As soon as Qin You finished speaking, Li Yue retorted, "Watch your tone."

She struggled and cursed, and in a moment of carelessness, her wound was pulled open. Wen Jiu raised her hand and pinched her chin, whispering, "Don't move."

As she finished applying the last bit of medicine to the cotton swab, she looked up at the girl in red and said, "I'm her friend. I didn't know outsiders weren't allowed here. I'll leave in a bit."

The woman's voice was gentle, and her attitude was the same; even if Qin You wanted to deliberately cause trouble, he couldn't find a single fault to point out.

She pursed her lips and then began to whine to the person next to her, "It was that woman who hit me. Look at my face, it's bruised in several places. I don't know how long it will take to heal."

Li Yue finally couldn't hold back anymore: "Do you believe I can make sure you never have a good life?"

"Grandma!" Xiao Rou was so frightened she almost covered her mouth with her hand.

Qin You looked at her and leaned against Zhou Yanchuan as if she were scared: "Look how fierce she is, so scary."

Li Yue wanted to continue scolding, but Wen Jiu shook her head and said softly, "That's enough, Yueyue."

She knew that the girl was angry largely because of her, but after five years, she couldn't be sure about Zhou Yanchuan now, and she was afraid that if something really happened, the girl's career would be affected.

But Li Yue was furious. She just couldn't stand Qin You's sycophantic manner, and Zhou Yanchuan actually let this woman lean on him right in front of Xiao Jiu.

"Zhou Yanchuan, is this all the taste you have now? You bring all sorts of junk around with you. Before you find a girlfriend, can you open your eyes and take a good look at what kind of person you're looking for?"

As soon as Li Yue finished speaking, the entire venue fell silent.

The group of people around her had already planned out how they would die.

But to his surprise, the person who was being scolded showed no displeasure whatsoever. He simply lifted his eyelids to glance at the woman, whose face was flushed with anger, and asked in a calm voice, "Finished scolding?"

To be honest, Li Yue was also a little afraid of Zhou Yanchuan now.

I don't know what he's been through in the past five years, but his aura is so strong that it's frightening.

“Ang,” he said, showing backbone, but not much.

Zhou Yanchuan gave a faint smile, his tone revealing neither joy nor anger: "Miss Li is right. When looking for a girlfriend, you should carefully consider what kind of person you're choosing."

Li Yue was taken aback by his words and became even angrier. All men are the same; they hold grudges. He just remembers when Xiao Jiu dumped him.

She opened her mouth as if to say something more, but Wen Jiu stopped her: "That's enough."

The person who hadn't looked at her until now glanced at her, then coldly looked away.

Wen Jiu's eyes flickered, her thick eyelashes drooping, making it impossible to discern her emotions.

Even after Zhou Yanchuan left, Li Yue was still angry: "Why did you stop me just now?"

"It was my problem to begin with."

Upon hearing this, Li Yue was taken aback. She suddenly remembered the words the girl had said while crying back then. But what did it matter if she remembered them? Best friends are more important than anything else.

She denied it, saying, "How can you blame yourself? You didn't want to."

The people around were confused, but they vaguely felt that they had heard some big gossip.

Wen Jiu was still thinking about what Zhou Yanchuan had just said.

Her resolute decision to break up with him has left her with absolutely no courage to face him now. The things she said back then left them no room for negotiation.

It's understandable that he hates her.

Wen Jiu wasn't angry, but she felt a tightness in her chest. She lowered her eyes, her dark pupils dim.

Li Yue noticed that the woman was in low spirits and couldn't bear it, so she put her arm around her shoulder to comfort her: "Forget it, let's not talk about him anymore. I'll treat you to drinks tonight."

"I have to work overtime tonight."

"Is it that bad?" Li Yue asked incredulously. "How many times have you worked overtime this month?"

Wen Jiu sighed, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the thought: "The cases have all piled up lately."

She stood up from the sofa and said, "I'm not talking to you anymore, I'm going back to work."

“Sigh,” Li Yue wanted to say something more, but looking at the girl’s retreating figure, she felt an indescribable sense of loneliness.

Five years have passed, and I still haven't let myself off the hook.

In the past five years, Wen Jiu has not spent a single Chinese New Year with her friends. She once asked her why.

"Why?"

"He's alone abroad too."

She experienced the same pain he went through.

Inside the train carriage.

Lu Nian glanced at the person in the back seat through the rearview mirror.

All the car windows were rolled down, and the man leaned back in his seat, two buttons on his shirt collar undone.

He stared blankly at his phone screen, his handsome features revealing no emotion.

After an unknown amount of time, a barely audible voice uttered: "Heartless wretch."

*

Wen Jiu worked overtime until late at night that day. She glanced at her watch, turned off the desk lamp, and got up.

As soon as she went down the stairs, she started hailing a taxi. Just as she reached the entrance of the procuratorate, a driver accepted her fare.

She watched the car approaching her on her phone and walked towards the intersection.

The wind blew, and the snow on the branches fell down with a rustling sound.

Wen Jiuleng wrapped her coat tighter and stopped at the intersection.

The dim light illuminated her face, and in a corner where no one noticed, a pair of eyes were fixed on her back.

A white car stopped in front of Wen Jiu. The driver rolled down the window and leaned out: "6987."

“Yes,” Wen Jiu replied and went to the back door. Before getting in, she paused slightly and turned her head to look. The green belt rustled, but there was no one there.

For some reason, she was still feeling uneasy. Thinking about checking the nearby surveillance footage tomorrow, Wen Jiu got into the car.

As the white car drove away, a man slowly emerged from the green belt.
