Chapter 161 Zhou Yanchuan, I've gained weight

Chapter 161 Zhou Yanchuan, I've gained weight

After Zhou Yanchuan left, Wen Jiu's life seemed to return to normal, but there were still some subtle differences.

"Miss Wen, the master instructed you to finish your meal before you leave."

"It's cold, Miss Wen, please put on another layer."

*

"Sister Jiu Jiu, you look different."

A week after Zhou Yanchuan left, Lin Fan said something unexpected while delivering documents.

Wen Jiu looked blankly at him: "How is it different?"

"Well," Lin Fan said, not quite sure, but it looked a little different from before.

She tilted her head: "Sister Jiu Jiu, have you gained weight?"

"ah?"

Her skin was fair and delicate, and her face was as beautiful as a peach blossom.

Wen Jiu hadn't taken Lin Fan's words to heart at first, but after dinner, when she was about to go to the sofa to look at the case files, she suddenly remembered this matter. She turned around and called out to the person who was clearing the dishes, "Aunt Lin."

"What's wrong, Miss Wen?"

Do we have a weighing scale here?

"Yes, I'll look for it for you."

When the woman came over with the weighing scale, Wen Jiu put down the documents in her hand and walked over.

She slowly stepped onto it, her expression subtly changing as she looked at the numbers that had lit up.

After I finished showering, Zhou Yanchuan called me.

He seemed to have been drinking again; his voice was low and inexplicably tender.

"What are you doing?"

"I just finished showering and I'm looking at some documents."

"A new case?"

“Yes,” Wen Jiu said, then realized something was wrong, “You’ve been drinking again?”

"I drank a little."

"Why are you always drinking? You clearly can't drink, but you still do."

Hearing the reproach and worry that came out of her mouth, Zhou Yanchuan's expression softened considerably. He didn't argue, but quietly listened to her.

After she finished speaking, he said, "I won't drink it next time."

With his attitude, Wen Jiu couldn't bear to say anything more. After a couple of seconds of silence, she remembered her weight and said, "Zhou Yanchuan."

"Um."

"I've gained weight."

The person on the other end seemed surprised by her words, paused for half a second, and then chuckled softly: "Isn't that great?"

"Oh no, I've gained three pounds."

"Only three pounds?"

"What do you mean 'only three jin'?"

He chuckled softly again: "You're too thin, eat more."

Wen Jiu refused: "I don't want to. You should tell Aunt Lin to cook less food."

Hearing the unconsciously coquettish tone in her voice, Zhou Yanchuan felt his heart soften and said, "Okay."

After Wen Jiu finished explaining the matter, the two chatted for a while longer before hanging up the phone.

The next morning, she thought Aunt Lin would cook fewer dishes, but to her surprise, there were even more than before.

Before she could ask, the woman cheerfully greeted her, "Miss Wen, you're up."

"Aunt Lin, why are you so happy today?"

"My husband gave me a raise, saying I took good care of the child and encouraged me to keep up the good work."

Wen Jiu: "..."

*

A week before Zhou Yanchuan returned, Wen Jiu went to her master and mistress's house for dinner.

When she arrived, she happened to see her master in the community pavilion, his hands behind his back, bending over and watching people play chess.

When Ji Heng saw her, a smile appeared on his face: "Xiao Jiu, wait for Master to finish watching this game."

Wen Jiu smiled and watched the unfinished game of chess alongside him.

"Junior sister can play Go?"

A voice suddenly sounded behind me.

Wen Jiu looked back.

It was Ji Wenbai, wearing a dark gray down jacket and carrying a bag of fruit.

Compared to the last time I saw it, it felt more like everyday life.

The only question is how much he saw that night.

Her thoughts drifted for a moment, then quickly returned, and she whispered, "I know a little."

Ji Wenbai's expression showed surprise.

The girl was introverted and low-key. If she could say she knew a little, then she must know more than just a little. Just as this thought came to him, his father said from the side, "Xiao Jiu beat your Uncle Guan."

Grandpa Guan has been playing chess for half his life; to beat him, you really need to be quite skilled.

After dinner, the master's wife took Wen Jiu's hand and tentatively asked, "Xiao Jiu, what do you think of your senior brother?"

Wen Jiu hadn't quite grasped the situation yet, and just instinctively said, "It's fine."

"Why don't you consider trying to date him?"

Upon hearing this, Wen Jiu was visibly startled, and then shook her head repeatedly in realization.

Qin Aihua thought she was shy and wanted to say something more, but Wen Jiu spoke first: "Master's wife, I'm not single now."

"ah?"

A look of obvious surprise appeared on that well-maintained face: "When did this happen?"

"Just a while ago."

"Which family is he from? Do we know each other? What's his family's financial situation like? What does he do now?"

Ji Wenbai couldn't stand it anymore and said, "Mom, you have so many questions, which one should we answer first?"

He had barely finished speaking when he was glared at, clearly annoyed that he hadn't caught it.

Ji Wenbai smiled helplessly.

If his mother knew the background of his junior sister's boyfriend, she wouldn't glare at him.

However, to Ji Wenbai's surprise, these two seemingly unrelated people were actually connected, and judging from what he saw that day, their entanglement was quite deep.

I wonder how the women in Beicheng will react when they find out that the person next to their beloved CEO Zhou is actually a prosecutor.

It'll probably be quite lively.

Back at Yujing, Wen Jiu played with Xiao Huang for a while, then took a bath and lay down on the bed. She was a little tired today, and soon she drifted off to sleep.

She was then woken up by a phone call and reached for her phone.

A call from an unknown number.

Wen Jiu subconsciously wanted to hang up, but then she had a strange premonition. Her fingertip hovered above the screen for a few seconds before she tapped to answer.

"Hello."

Perhaps surprised that she would answer the phone, the person on the other end hesitated for a few seconds before speaking: "Is this Xiao Jiu?"

Upon hearing the voice, Wen Jiu's expression froze for a rare moment, and she gripped her phone tighter.

*

Watching the people entering the airport, Lu Nian made a phone call to Zhou Yanchuan.

Zhou Yanchuan had just come out of the conference room: "What's wrong?"

"Miss Wen has returned to Qingyang."

Zhou Yanchuan stopped walking forward, hung up the phone without saying a word, and then called Zhou Qiyong.

Back in Qingyang, Wen Jiu was still somewhat dazed; it had been almost two years since her last return.

As soon as she came out of the airport, the Zhou family sent Chen Bin to pick her up.

Five years later, the once strong man now had a few gray hairs at his temples, and his usually stern face had softened a bit.

He reached out to take her suitcase.

Chen Bin looked at the person in front of him. Compared to his time in college, the person had become more mature and gentle, but his face was still as clean and beautiful as it had been back then, with bright, dark eyes that seemed to see right into a person's heart.

"Miss Wen."

He addressed him politely.

Unexpectedly, the girl still addressed him respectfully as "Uncle Chen".

There was not a trace of blame or resentment about what happened back then in his words.

This child is much more insightful than these adults.

He responded, his eyes inexplicably moist. "You must be tired from the flight. Hurry up and get in the car to rest for a while."

"Um."

Wen Jiu bent down and got into the car.

It was raining outside, and a layer of mist seeped onto the car window. Raindrops fell on it and slid down in no time.

She watched the raindrops linger briefly before quickly sliding down, and felt that these past five years had been just like that.

She thought those five years would be heartbreaking, but they didn't leave any trace in her memory. Her memories were still of the time she spent with Zhou Yanchuan.
