Chapter 46 Just a fart
Wen Jiu stood there stunned for a few seconds, and when she looked up, she saw Zhou Yanchuan's dark gaze.
Their eyes met.
Without a second thought, she turned and ran.
But just as my hand touched the doorknob, a sound came from behind me.
"Don't you want your dog anymore?"
Wen Jiu stopped moving, hesitated for two seconds, and slowly turned around.
She walked towards his house with her head down, and when she reached him, she asked softly, "Where's the dog?"
"living room."
Wen Jiu wanted to go into the room to get it, but someone blocked the doorway with most of their body, clearly knowing she wanted to go in, yet remaining motionless.
She knew he was doing it on purpose, so she didn't say anything and walked past him sideways.
A sneer came from above.
"Wen Xiaojiu, what are you feeling guilty about?"
Wen Jiu paused in her steps: "I have nothing to hide."
"If you have nothing to hide, why are you avoiding me?"
"I didn't dodge."
"Take a look at whose clothes are on the sofa."
Wen Jiu turned her head and saw the sweater she had worn yesterday neatly folded on the sofa.
"You ran off without taking your clothes this morning, and you still say you didn't hide?"
Wen Jiu's eyelashes trembled, and she remained silent.
The person by the door took a step forward and leaned down to look at her.
Their eyes met, and Wen Jiu knew what he wanted to ask.
Her eyes trembled, and she was filled with unease. A second before he spoke, she raised her hand.
When that gentle touch came to his lips, Zhou Yanchuan froze.
The girl's lowered gaze revealed her moist and uneasy eyes.
Then a faint sound reached my ears.
"Don't ask anymore."
*
Watching the person leave with the dog, Zhou Yanchuan took out his phone from his pocket; the screen still showed he was on a call.
"Where are they?" he asked.
There was a two-second pause on the phone before a voice came through.
Why did you stop asking?
Zhou Yanchuan felt that his phone must have been placed on the table. He heard a soft "thump" in his ear, but his expression did not change. He said calmly, "I can't ask."
"Why?"
"She will cry."
There was no further response, followed by a few seconds of silence: "Serious little sister?"
Zhou Yanchuan laughed: "What do you mean?"
"It's the same as having a discussion."
*
After hanging up the phone, Zhou Yanchuan sat on the sofa, thinking about Qi You's last words, "You should be glad that you two are not related by blood."
After thinking for a while, he lowered his head and laughed.
Zhou Yanchuan realized that he was wrong. Ever since he found out that the girl had a crush on a boy, he had been preoccupied with who that person was and cared about everything she did because of him. Besides being afraid that she would be deceived or bullied, he also had some other emotions that he couldn't explain.
It's like "jealousy," jealousy that the person receives special treatment from her time and time again.
This feeling persisted until yesterday when she gave him the leaf. Even when he said, "This is for the person you have a crush on," she still gave him the leaf. For some inexplicable reason, Zhou Yanchuan wondered if her doing this meant that he was the person she had a crush on.
What bothered him most was that at the moment he had this idea, he didn't feel any trouble or annoyance. Instead, he started thinking about what it would be like for a young girl to fall in love.
*
Wen Jiu looked at the puppy in the cage, her mind still filled with Zhou Yanchuan's gaze just now; he must have noticed something.
Otherwise, why would he ask her that question?
Wen Jiu stretched out a finger and gently touched the puppy's paw in the cage. "Little Yellow, what should I do?"

on Monday.
As soon as Wen Jiu entered the classroom, she was called to the office by Lao Guan, along with Song Xingran.
"For this city-wide competition, the school selected the two of you, along with two students from the honors class," Old Guan said, getting straight to the point as he entered. After gesturing for the two to sit down, he added, "I'd like to ask what you think?"
Wen Jiu nodded after listening. The person next to her didn't react for a few seconds, then said calmly, "Okay."
"Then it's decided. I'll talk to the principal about it later."
"good."
Old Guan looked at the girl in front of him who obediently responded with satisfaction, but then his gaze shifted to the side and his brows furrowed instantly: "Song Xingran, let me tell you, don't go looking at the grass while you're doing your test, understand?"
She looked at him with big eyes but didn't say anything.
"Do you know?"
Old Guan asked again, but still ignored him.
"Alright, let's leave it at that," he sighed, then added to the girl, "You two pack up tonight, and the city will send a car to pick you up for the training camp tomorrow morning."
"good."
*
"Isn't that the class monitor?" Su Shun had just come up the stairs when she saw the girl and the boy next to her not far away. "Where did she and Song Xingran go?"
Zhou Yanchuan raised his eyes.
Su Shun suddenly remembered something: "Brother, do you think the class monitor might have a crush on Song Xingran? I thought of all the guys in our class before, but I forgot about him."
As they were talking, two boys who were chasing her ran up from behind. It looked like they were about to hit her because they couldn't stop in time. Suddenly, the boy next to her, who was always a bit slow to react, raised his hand and pulled her to the side.
“See, see, I knew it,” Su Shun said excitedly, “when has Song Xingran ever reacted so quickly?”
Song Xingran transferred to their class after Chen Yu, and on the day she arrived, her face caused quite a stir at the school.
However, he doesn't like to communicate with people and is slow to react, so he usually does things by himself.
Looking around, the two people he interacted with most in the whole class were Qi You and Wen Jiu.
Wen Jiu doesn't usually interact much with men, and if you had to pick someone she interacts with the most, it would probably be Song Xingran.
Thinking of this, Su Shun's eyes turned dejected: "This arrogant young man of mine has finally been defeated by his grades."
"..."
Zhou Yanchuan initially didn't want to pay him any attention, but he couldn't hold back any longer: "Get lost."
"What? What?" Chen Yu, who came upstairs the next step, asked without hearing clearly.
Su Shun turned to look at him: "Want to know?"
"Of course, tell me quickly."
He opened his mouth and mouthed a gesture.
Chen Yu: "..."
Ignoring the two people behind him who had started playing around again, Zhou Yanchuan's gaze was fixed on the hand holding the girl's arm.
At this moment, he clearly felt the jealousy and restlessness in his heart, which were intertwined and made him desperately want to step forward and pull the two apart.
This feeling is definitely not the protective instinct of an older brother who is afraid that his younger sister will get hurt.
Rather, it was a clear and unmistakable possessiveness towards her.
Just as Wen Jiu was about to say "thank you," she glanced up and saw Zhou Yanchuan standing only a few steps away.
Her eyelashes fluttered at first, then she lowered her head and ran away in a panic.
This subconscious behavior, in Zhou Yanchuan's eyes, became confirmation that the girl had a crush on the boy next to her.
Her eyelashes trembled almost imperceptibly, then lowered even further, casting a small shadow beneath her eyes.
*
Wen Jiu was unaware that her recent escape had been misunderstood; she simply hadn't figured out how to face Zhou Yanchuan.
When she hasn't made up her mind, she can't help but want to escape.
Because rather than facing rejection after confessing, she could only prolong their entanglement by running away.
Because of their participation in the training camp, Lao Guan gave Wen Jiu and Song Xingran special permission to go home early.
As they packed up their things and got up from their seats, some murmurs inevitably arose in the classroom.
Most of the comments were praising how amazing the two people were.
There were also some other voices mixed in.
"Don't you guys think these two are a good match?"
"I was just about to say that the two of them look so good together."
"The air feels clean and fresh."
...
Listening to the discussion of the group in front of him, Zhou Yanchuan scoffed and turned his gaze to the two people in the aisle.
Chen Yu noticed his gaze: "Don't you also think they're a good match?"
He lifted his eyelids, glanced at him indifferently, and said lazily, "Dah—"
Just as Chen Yu was about to chime in with "Right?", the unfinished second half of the sentence echoed in his ears: "Bullshit."
