Chapter 50 Missing Him/Her
Time flew by at the training camp. During that time, Wen Jiu would think of Zhou Yanchuan from time to time, and of what he had said that day.
Her fingers would involuntarily tug at something, swirling and twisting between them, just like her heart, which was in complete turmoil.
"What do you mean by 'selling me'?"
The girl sitting by the window gently bit her lip, occasionally furrowing her delicate brows.
It seemed that the things on her mind at that moment were completely beyond her ability to handle.
Lu Jingci quietly looked at that profile. Whenever she showed that expression, he knew she was thinking of that person.
To everyone else, she was beautiful and quiet, but to that person, she was vibrant and alive.
Just like when we first met, her voice said, "Zhou Yanchuan."
The girl ran past him, her flying hair brushing against his arm.
Lu Jingci turned around to look.
At the corner of the stairs, sunlight fell on that tall figure, making the lines of his neck appear cold and clear. The boy was wearing a school uniform, but it couldn't hide his arrogance.
"Zhou Yanchuan."
He knew this person.
In other words, there was no one in the entire school who didn't know him, and an absurd number of girls liked him.
"But how could a girl like her have anything to do with him?"
Lu Jingci watched silently.
Watching the originally gentle and quiet girl chatter incessantly in front of that person, her voice rising at the end.
The boy beside her had a slight smirk on his lips, and his dark eyes held a kind of indulgence he had never shown to outsiders. He would occasionally retort, but he was always watching the steps she was taking.
"Wen Xiaojiu, watch where you're going."
*
"Still looking?" Shen Che noticed Lu Jingci's gaze as soon as he entered the room. He sat down next to him and lowered his voice. "If you like her so much, why not take this opportunity to confess to her?"
"Confessing your feelings is different from solving a problem."
"What's the meaning?"
"It's not that easy."
"..."
Shen Che licked his lips and smiled: "To be honest, sometimes I really want to hit you."
Lu Jingci curved the corners of his lips slightly, but the smile never reached his eyes.
Seeing his childhood friend so fond of a girl, he naturally wanted to help.
"So you're just going to keep waiting like this? Aren't you afraid someone else will beat you to it?"
Lu Jingci's eyelashes twitched slightly.
"How about this, the competition will be over in two days, then we can organize a get-together, and you can talk to her about it."
Shen Che felt his plan was flawless, but the person next to him didn't react at all. He couldn't stand it anymore and said, "What's there to worry about? You're Lu Jingci. Which girl wouldn't like you?"
Do you know Zhou Yanchuan?
Startled by the sudden question, Shen Che paused for a moment, but despite his confusion, he still answered.
"I doubt there's anyone who doesn't know him."
As soon as he finished speaking, he didn't notice the fleeting glint of unease in the eyes of the boy beside him. When he looked up again, he was back to normal.
Shen Che was puzzled and was about to ask: Why did you suddenly ask him?
Then I heard a voice ask, "What do you think of him?"
"How was it?" Shen Che had never met Zhou Yanchuan before, but he had run into him once when he was out with friends and caught a glimpse of him from afar.
Well, how should I put it?
That's fucking handsome!
Even he, a guy, found it dazzling, so it's no wonder the girls at school went crazy for it.
Why are you asking him?
"nothing."
"Then think about what I just said."
Lu Jingci didn't reply, but Chen Che clicked his tongue and said, "Did you hear that?"
"Time to work on your homework, quiet down."
"..."

Before evening self-study class, Zhou Yanchuan took out his phone and looked at the message page that hadn't been replied to for several days.
I sent a question mark ("?").
Then it was withdrawn.
Then I tapped the screen with my fingers.
"Busy?"
Deleted again.
Until the class bell rang, he stared at the screen displaying a series of "You retracted a message" before finally tossing his phone back onto the table.
He had expected people to avoid him after he said those things, but he never expected them to completely ignore him.
He hasn't replied to a single message or answered any phone calls since the training camp started.
That's actually pretty impressive.
Zhou Yanchuan's lips curled up, but his eyes held a hint of restlessness that he himself was unaware of.
Do you have Song Xingran's phone number?
When he suddenly heard this sentence, Chen Yu answered without thinking, "Yes."
After he finished speaking, he realized something was wrong. "Why are you asking this?"
"Send it over."
*
Wen Jiu was working on her homework when Song Xingran walked towards her without her noticing. She only noticed him standing next to her seat when she glanced up unintentionally.
He didn't say anything, just stood quietly beside her.
"What's wrong?" she asked softly.
"Looking for you."
"Hmm?" She was a little confused, but she wasn't in a hurry and just waited quietly for the person to speak.
After a few seconds, the boy raised his phone and said slowly, "Someone is looking for you."
Wen Jiu blinked, her gaze shifting to the black phone.
A string of numbers without any notes.
but.
His dark eyes trembled slightly.
It was a number I had already memorized.
Wen Jiu hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to loosen or tighten her grip on the pen, before finally putting it down.
Despite the noise around her, the moment she picked up the phone and put it to her ear, it was as if a mute button had been pressed on her end.
Apart from the faint sound of rain coming from the other end of the phone, I couldn't hear anything else.
After a brief silence, a deep, magnetic voice came from the phone.
"Wen Xiaojiu".
Wen Jiu could no longer hear the rain. Her slender white fingers gripped the phone tightly as she whispered, "Mmm."
When Zhou Yanchuan heard that faint voice, the corners of his lips curved slightly; at least the person wasn't completely ignoring him.
He turned his head to look at the raindrops on the windowpane illuminated by the streetlight. He wanted to ask her why she wasn't replying to his messages, but afraid that she would avoid him again, he said instead, "What are you doing?"
"Write a question."
It was still a soft sound, almost drowned out by the noisy background. Zhou Yanchuan listened attentively and asked in a low voice, "Have you been very busy these days?"
"It's alright."
"Well," he was about to speak when he heard an unfamiliar male voice from the other end of the phone.
"Wen Jiu."
Zhou Yanchuan frowned subconsciously, then heard the girl's soft, obedient voice.
"What's wrong?"
"Do you think this way of writing the problem is simpler?"
I don't know if it was because I was looking at the question, but after that sentence, there was suddenly no sound from the other end of the phone.
Zhou Yanchuan frowned even more deeply. When the girl's voice rang out again, she said, "Zhou Yanchuan, I have something to do, I'll hang up now."
Before he could speak, a busy signal came from the other end of the phone.
Zhou Yanchuan stared at the phone screen that had switched away from the call page, and the temperature in the air seemed to drop several degrees suddenly.
