Chapter 91 I'll Be Entangled with You for a Lifetime
Inside the room, Zhou Yanchuan squatted down and looked up at the person sitting on the sofa eating ice cream: "Wen Xiaojiu."
"Um."
Are you hiding something from me?
He's not good at playing dumb.
But Wen Jiu is good at it.
"What's wrong?" she asked innocently, scooping up a spoonful of food and bringing it to his lips.
"I'm asking you." Zhou Yanchuan didn't like eating these things, but she couldn't resist the fact that her house was always full of them since she was little.
After he finished speaking, he opened his mouth and took it in.
“I was just saying how come I didn’t know I was hiding something from you,” Wen Jiu said, pulling her hand back and scooping up another spoonful to feed him.
Zhou Yanchuan's gaze lingered on her face. He grasped the hand she was trying to feed him, and at the same time, he took the ice cream from her hand with his other hand.
The girl's eyes immediately turned pitiful.
Without hesitation, Zhou Yanchuan grabbed the food and threw it into the trash can: "We agreed to only eat half."
"You stingy person."
He chuckled and said, "I wonder who was calling for Zhou Yanchuan because of a stomachache."
Who is it?
Zhou Yanchuan raised his hand and gently patted her forehead: "Who are you talking about?"
Wen Jiu smiled and took his hand.
His expression was unusually serious: "I'll go see a doctor in a few days. It's not good if I'm in pain every time I come."
"The doctor said there's nothing that can be done about this kind of congenital menstrual pain, except to eat less cold drinks in daily life."
"You knew that, yet you still ate it."
"I couldn't help it."
He squeezed her hand and said, "Go see a traditional Chinese medicine doctor later."
Wen Jiu paused for a moment, then nodded: "Okay."
There was an unusual two-second silence between them. Wen Jiu suddenly remembered something and asked, "Do I need to prepare some things for going abroad? It's my first time going. Do I need a passport and visa? Is it too late for me to apply for them now?"
Zhou Yanchuan looked at the person who was about to get up from the sofa to deal with the matter, and pulled her back: "I've prepared everything, I'll be down in a couple of days."
"You're already prepared?"
"Um."
Wen Jiu found that as long as Zhou Yanchuan was with her, she didn't seem to have to do anything or be afraid of anything, because he could always handle things before she did.
But she felt that being by his side was nothing more than a burden to him, and she couldn't do anything to help him at all.
Wen Jiu rested her head on his shoulder: "I feel like I'll become more and more dependent on you if you keep doing this."
"We'll just rely on them."
"I'll be with you for the rest of my life."
"I'm afraid you'll pester me."
As Zhou Yanchuan spoke, a ray of light fell on his forehead, sparkling and unrealistically beautiful.
It was as if the light itself was reminding her that the person in front of her was a dream.
But dreams always come to an end.
Wen Jiu knew the dream would end, but right now she just wanted to wake up a little later, much later.
*
The night before I left for Qingyang, it had rained, and the air was filled with dampness.
It had been more than ten days since Wen Jiu last saw Chen Yu after the college entrance examination. When she saw him appear at the airport entrance wearing a pink T-shirt and light blue jeans, she was stunned for a few seconds.
Chen Yu was different from Zhou Yanchuan and Qi You; he always wore colorful clothes. Coupled with his fair skin and sunny appearance, he looked like a peacock displaying its plumage as he walked down the street.
Sometimes she would think: I don't know how they all got along. They all have such bad tempers and strong personalities.
After the plane landed, the first place the group went was the school where they trained during the summer.
Upon seeing each other, Wen Jiu and Xia Shi hugged each other, their eyes red.
Zhou Yanchuan watched from a short distance away, his eyes gentle.
Over the years of high school, the girl's personality became much more outgoing, thanks in part to Lin Meng and Xia Shi.
As he looked at Wen Jiu, a voice came from beside him: "Zhou Yanchuan."
"Um."
“I had a dream last night,” Chen Yu said.
Zhou Yanchuan didn't ask about the dream, but just turned his head to look at him and gestured for him to speak.
"I dreamt that we went back to No. 1 High School."
Why go back to No. 1 High School?
"Retake the exam."
"..."
Zhou Yanchuan raised his leg and kicked.
Chen Yu covered his butt and said, "Do you think we're really going to have to repeat a year?"
"Shut up."
Zhou Yanchuan's mood was somewhat agitated throughout the day because of Chen Yu's dream.
When he returned to the hotel that evening, he didn't go to his own room, but instead knocked on Wen Jiu's door.
Wen Jiu was taking a shower at the time. She couldn't think of anyone else who would knock on the door so late except Zhou Yanchuan. She quickly rinsed off and put on her clothes.
The moment the door opened, a delicate fragrance wafted to my nose.
Zhou Yanchuan lifted his eyelids, his eyes reflecting the girl's delicate, slightly flushed cheeks and her hair that hadn't yet been dried.
In the dim light, his throat moved slightly.
A soft, gentle voice rang out: "Zhou Yanchuan, why are you knocking on my door?"
“Nothing,” he said, then added, “I can’t sleep.”
"Well," Wen Jiu thought for a moment, "would you like to come in and sit for a while?"
The first thing Zhou Yanchuan did upon entering the room was to go to the bathroom to get a hairdryer and a towel.
He pulled her to sit on the sofa, while he stood beside her and helped her blow-dry her hair.
She cut her hair at the beginning of her second year of high school, and now it has grown to her waist. Her hair is thick and long, and it took Zhou Yanchuan quite a while to completely dry it.
Her jet-black, shiny hair draped over her shoulders, like a small blanket.
He was playing with it by hooking it with his knuckles when the girl suddenly turned around and asked, "Want to see a movie?"
"See a movie?"
“You can’t sleep, right? Watching a movie might help you fall asleep,” Wen Jiu said, getting up from the sofa.
The strand of hair that Zhou Yanchuan was holding slipped through his fingers.
He initially stood still, quietly watching her walk into the inner bedroom.
He came out with his phone a little while later.
"Zhou Yanchuan, is there a movie you want to watch?" she asked as she walked toward him.
He pulled her to sit down on the sofa: "No, just find what you want to watch."
"What I want to see," Wen Jiu said, swiping the screen for a moment, "is this okay?"
Zhou Yanchuan glanced at it: "I'm not looking."
"Didn't you say you wanted to see what I wanted to see? I want to see this, why aren't you watching it?"
"Watching a suspense drama in a hotel late at night?"
"Yes."
He chuckled; he really had absolutely no romantic sense.
Just as he was about to agree, the girl next to him suddenly changed her mind, as if she had thought of something: "Let's choose another one."
"Why?"
Wen Jiu suddenly remembered that most suspense dramas are quite explicit, and it would be strange for the two of them to watch this one together if it contained something inappropriate.
"I don't want to look anymore," she said casually, then lowered her head and started searching seriously again.
Zhou Yanchuan looked at the fickle person and just smiled.
Wen Jiu searched for a while longer and finally found a foreign movie that seemed pretty good.
"How about this one? What do you think?"
Zhou Yanchuan didn't even look at her; his attention was entirely on the strand of hair that had slipped into her collar. When he reached out to pull it out, he hummed in agreement.
The cool, moist fingertips lightly brushed across my neck, almost imperceptible, like a feather.
Wen Jiu trembled slightly and said softly, "Then let's look at this one."
