Chapter 125 Not Enough to Spend

Chapter 125 Not Enough to Spend

His voice was very low.

"Song Zhiwei, I've been waiting for you for a long time."

Her breath hitched, and her heart jolted.

"I didn't keep you waiting."

She pressed her hands against his firm chest, trying to push him away.

"We're not close enough for you to wait for me at the door when I come home."

He seemed not to hear her, still looking down at her with deep eyes and a slight upturn at the corners of his lips.

"You're not allowed to like your uncle."

Song Zhiwei: "..."

She froze, her mind going blank for a moment.

Where exactly did this person connect the wire?

His thoughts jumped around as if he had traversed eight hundred chapters.

“I’ve already said it,” she emphasized through gritted teeth, her tone tinged with helplessness, “I haven’t had those feelings for anyone for a long time. I have no feelings for anyone, let alone him.”

Upon hearing this, he did indeed loosen his grip, no longer holding her so tightly.

Instead, he continued to stroke her hair slowly and deliberately, his voice low.

"It wasn't a wasted wait."

She frowned, feeling that something about what he said sounded strange.

Something feels off, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Thinking of Chen Yun's meaningful look just now, and that bracelet that appeared out of nowhere.

She was seething with anger, and suddenly let out a cold laugh.

"So many women are waiting for you. You could probably summon a whole pool of them with just a casual phone call. Why are you fixated on me?"

Sheng Tingzhou's lips curled into a slight smile, a small curve, but with a hint of smugness.

"Are you jealous again?"

Her ears instantly burned, her whole face started to heat up, and even her neck turned red.

"I didn't! Who would be jealous of someone like you!"

He didn't believe it at all, and stared down at her flushed cheeks, his smile deepening.

"Not jealous? Then who are you trying to impress with that cold attitude? Who's been gossiping about me and saying bad things about me?"

She pursed her lips and shook her head: "Nobody said anything about me."

He knew she was lying, but he didn't call her out on it. He just reached out and pinched her cheek.

He slowly leaned closer, his nose almost touching her forehead, his dark eyes fixed on her.

"Song Zhiwei, don't you think the way you look at me lately has changed?"

She frowned: "What's different? I've always been like this."

He chuckled slowly, his voice low and husky, with a seductive quality.

"Before, when you saw me, you would run faster than a rabbit, as if you wanted to circle the earth three times to avoid me."

"But what about now?"

He spoke softly, but his gaze grew increasingly intense.

"When you're in a bad mood, you give me the cold shoulder and ignore me. If you say something wrong, you'll walk away. And you get jealous for no reason... Tsk, tell me, what else could this be but a little jealous pot? From now on, I might as well call you 'Little Jealous Spirit'."

Song Zhiwei was furious. She slapped his hand away, her eyes flashing with anger.

"I'm not jealous! I've told you so many times, don't talk nonsense!"

Sheng Tingzhou leaned lazily against the soft sofa cushions, his whole body sinking into the folds of the fabric.

"Why are you like a car that's out of gas? You keep stalling and saying 'no gas' all the time? Don't you know to add gas when the tank is empty?"

Song Zhiwei sat silently on a single chair not far away, her fingers unconsciously stroking the edge of the coffee table.

Can these be the same thing?

Love isn't like fuel, where you can just add it on a whim or have it whenever you want.

If you don't feel anything in your heart, forcing it won't help.

Sheng Tingzhou, however, persisted, lazily propping himself up on the sofa with his elbows on his knees.

"By the way, I don't have a pond at home, but I do have a small fish tank on the balcony with just one goldfish, all alone. Would you like to come over and take a look? You could find it a companion while you're at it?"

Song Zhiwei looked up at him, her eyes flickering slightly.

He then lowered his head and tapped the table lightly with his fingertips.

Is this a roundabout way of mocking me?

She finally spoke, her voice faint, tinged with a hint of helplessness.

"Even if there were fish, there would only be enough to feed you."

The implication is, who wants to come to your house to see your fish?

Still want to "take care of you"?

Caught off guard, Song Zhiwei's chest jolted, and her heart skipped a beat.

It felt like a slight electric current swept across my spine from behind my ears.

A tingling sensation spread rapidly from the nerve endings to every part of the body, making the hands and feet involuntarily go weak.

She subconsciously bit her lower lip.

Her cheeks felt slightly hot, and the tips of her ears turned red without her even realizing it.

But she still didn't dare to look up, and she couldn't believe it.

Are you serious?

When did Sheng Tingzhou become so gentle and clingy?

Sheng Tingzhou's arms remained firmly around her waist, gently pulling her into his embrace.

He lowered his head slightly, and the stray hairs on his forehead brushed against her eyebrows.

"Now, can you tell me who was talking nonsense to you? Hmm?"

Song Zhiwei hesitated, then looked up, her gaze lingering for a moment in his deep pupils, her lips slightly parted.

Just as he was about to explain, his throat was interrupted by a sudden noise.

With a click, the lock on the wooden door to the living room was turned open.

Then someone gently pushed him away from the outside.

Jiang Mengxi poked her head in.

She had planned to sneak downstairs to throw out the trash at midnight, intending to return unnoticed and catch up on her sleep.

Who would have thought that the sight before her as soon as she opened the door would freeze her in place, her mind going blank on the spot!

The two people in front of me are covered up like freshly baked sesame candy.

An ambiguous atmosphere filled the air.

If she hadn't come in at the right time, she probably would have started talking to him the next second.

Her pupils dilated, and she instinctively covered her mouth, her voice trembling uncontrollably.

"Amitabha! Forgive me! Forgive me! I didn't see anything! I didn't see anything at all! I really didn't see anything!"

After saying that, she panicked and slammed the door shut with a loud bang.

Even the door frame shook three times.

The sound of her hurried footsteps and low muttering came from outside the door.

"Oh no, I'm a witness now..."

Song Zhiwei froze on the spot, her face completely red, wishing she could evaporate on the spot.

She lowered her head, her fingers gripping the hem of her skirt tightly, and muttered to herself.

"This is so embarrassing."

Sheng Tingzhou didn't care at all, instead letting out a light sneer and raising the corners of his lips.

"She's good at recognizing things and knows when to leave."

Song Zhiwei secretly took out her phone, swiped the screen, and glanced at the time.

12:30.

Her heart tightened; her flight was at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

I have to get up at six o'clock and arrive at the airport early; there's simply not enough time to waste.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, and looked up at Sheng Tingzhou.

"Mr. Sheng, it's too late. I have to catch a flight tomorrow. I... I'll go back to my room and pack my things."

After she finished speaking, she immediately stood up.

Sheng Tingzhou leaned against the armrest of the sofa, quietly watching her flustered appearance, his eyes deep, but he didn't say anything more.

He knew she was running away, and he understood her embarrassment at that moment.

But he wasn't in a hurry.

Anyway, there's plenty of time in the future, so there's no need to rush.

He just spoke up suddenly.

Before I leave, I'll say goodnight.

Song Zhiwei paused, unable to resist rolling her eyes inwardly.

Why are you treating me like a child?

How old am I? Do I still have to say goodnight before I can go to sleep?

But she was too tired and didn't want to waste any more time, so she gave in, looked down at the floor, and muttered something under her breath.

"good evening."

"good!"
