Chapter 145 Intention
Zhou Yuce frowned, originally intending to scold him.
He knew exactly what kind of person she was.
But a quick glance revealed Xie Lingling, wearing a shawl, descending the stairs, and the conversation immediately shifted.
"I guess... I just started dating a boyfriend, so I have someone to back me up."
He paused, swallowed back what he was about to say, and instead used a more vague expression.
Xie Lingling was standing in the middle of the stairs and had obviously overheard part of the conversation.
"What? Song Zhiwei has a boyfriend? Who is he?"
Zhou Yunsheng immediately perked up.
His eyes widened suddenly, and his anger was instantly dispelled by curiosity.
This thought had been lingering in his mind for a long time.
Song Zhiwei lives in the Zhou family home and has a close relationship with Zhou Yuce, behaving naturally.
He even suspected that the two of them might have been having an affair for some time.
But now that he hears she has a boyfriend, he's completely bewildered.
Zhou Yuze lowered his eyes and spoke in a low voice.
"This is her private matter, and I shouldn't say too much. As an outsider, it would be inappropriate to interfere too much."
He slowly turned around and walked steadily toward the stairs.
As soon as she raised her head, she met Xie Lingling's gaze, who was standing at the top of the stairs.
There was an urgency in his eyes.
He paused slightly, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
"Sister-in-law."
Xie Lingling was holding onto the railing as she hurried downstairs.
As she walked, she chased after him, asking, "Yu Ce, what you just said... that Zhiwei really has a boyfriend? When did she get one? How come there wasn't a single word about it?"
Zhou Yuze pursed his lips, his fingertips unconsciously curling slightly, but his tone remained calm.
"I'm sorry, sister-in-law, I don't know much about this. I only overheard it, so I can't say anything."
"But I clearly heard you say that just now."
Xie Lingling raised her voice slightly, her brows furrowed.
Before she could finish speaking, Zhou Yuze had already slightly turned aside, bypassed her, and resolutely continued walking upstairs.
As he reached the corner of the stairs, he suddenly stopped.
He didn't turn around, but paused for a few seconds before slowly turning around and looking at Xie Lingling.
"Sister-in-law, I really can't get involved in this matter. It's not that I don't want to speak up, but it involves too many things, and if I say too much, it will only make things more difficult for Zhiwei."
He paused, a hint of helplessness in his eyes.
“If you really want to know, you might as well ask her yourself. But if I spread the word and outsiders add fuel to the fire, things will really fall apart between Zhiwei and me. She will hate me, and I can’t bear that responsibility.”
"well."
Xie Lingling bit her lip and nodded heavily.
She gripped her shawl tightly, her fingers trembling slightly.
Thinking of the girl she had raised since childhood, who was always a handful, a surge of anger rose within her.
But marriage is a matter of future prospects, family background, and social status.
How could she possibly let Song Zhiwei just pick some unreliable random guy and hastily settle down for life?
That's not marriage, that's ruin.
All her hard work over the years has paved the way for Zhiwei, one thing at a time.
They painstakingly arranged resources, connections, and opportunities.
But now, that girl wants to overturn everything on a whim?
Can she accept this?
How could she accept this!
The next morning.
As dawn broke, Song Zhiwei and Sheng Tingzhou went out side by side.
The morning breeze was cool, stirring her hair.
She glanced down at the bracelet on her wrist, let out a soft breath, and then boarded the car bound for the airport.
The flight took off on time, and the cabin was quiet and warm.
During the flight, sunlight streamed through the porthole and shone on Sheng Tingzhou's profile.
He suddenly turned his head and asked, "Do you remember what Chen Yun's bracelet looked like? What was special about its color, material, and style?"
He had already secretly investigated the source of the information last night, hoping to find out as soon as possible where the problem lay.
Why would someone know about the bracelet in advance?
Song Zhiwei was slightly taken aback, then began to think back seriously.
“I remember… it was a platinum chain with a tiny sapphire in the center, surrounded by a ring of small diamonds, shaped like ripples on water. Oh right, Jiang Yan has the design drawings. That day when he opened the car door, a stack of documents fell out of his briefcase, and I picked them up for him, and happened to turn to that page.”
Sheng Tingzhou raised an eyebrow, his eyes flashing slightly.
"Exactly the same as the one you have?"
"right."
Song Zhiwei nodded and raised her wrist to take a look.
"This is it. Jiang Yan casually mentioned that it was a birthday gift specially designed for me and told me not to tell anyone. That's why I took a second look and it left a deep impression on me."
Sheng Tingzhou's gaze suddenly turned cold.
"I see."
He leaned back in his chair, his gaze fixed on the rolling clouds outside the window, and he had already made his judgment.
The news leaked from Jiang Yan.
The plane slowly landed on the runway of Yancheng Airport.
Passengers began to get up and pack their luggage.
As soon as the cabin door opened, cool air rushed into the aircraft through the passageway.
Jiang Yan had been waiting for a long time, and his car was parked at the closest point to the exit.
The engine was still running, the windows were down, and his eyes were fixed on the direction of the passageway entrance.
Finally, Sheng Tingzhou's figure came into view.
Jiang Yan immediately jumped out of the car and jogged forward to greet them, a respectful and humble smile on his face, as he reached out to take their suitcases and briefcases.
"Mr. Sheng, Ms. Song, you must be tired from your journey."
Song Zhiwei looked up at him and nodded gently.
She didn't say much, but simply followed quietly behind Sheng Tingzhou.
Half an hour later.
The black sedan came to a smooth stop at the entrance to the underground parking garage of the upscale apartment building in the city center.
The car was turned off, and the interior immediately became quiet.
Sheng Tingzhou turned his head slightly, his gaze falling on Song Zhiwei's face beside him.
"You go up first, I need to talk to Jiang Yan about something."
Song Zhiwei was taken aback upon hearing this, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes, before she understood his intention.
She gave a soft "hmm," then pushed open the car door and stepped out in her high heels.
The night breeze brushed against her hair.
The car door slammed shut, shutting out the outside world.
Jiang Yan, sitting in the front seat, immediately turned around with a forced smile on his face.
"President Sheng, is there anything else you'd like to say?"
He rested his hands on the back of the seat, his fingers slightly clenched.
Sheng Tingzhou's gaze swept lightly over him.
"Jiang Yan, you've been with me for almost two years, haven't you?"
Jiang Yan's heart tightened suddenly, his Adam's apple bobbed involuntarily, and his voice trembled slightly.
"Yes, it's been almost two years."
Sheng Tingzhou didn't reply. He simply leaned back in his chair, tapped the armrest lightly with his fingers, and then slowly spoke.
"Starting tomorrow, you won't need to drive. The new driver has been arranged and will be on duty the day after tomorrow."
Jiang Yan's smile froze instantly, and he felt as if he had fallen into an ice cave.
He tried to remain calm, but his voice was already weak.
"President Sheng, I... what did I do wrong? Was there something I didn't do well? Please feel free to criticize me, I will definitely correct it!"
He tried to play dumb, his tone full of flattery.
Sheng Tingzhou glanced at him indifferently, his tone still languid.
"You didn't do anything wrong. It's just that the design drawing had to fall down when you opened the door."
