Chapter 22 I'll give it to you

Chapter 22 I'll give it to you

The next second, the man slowly walked out from around the corner.

He was tall and had a steady gait.

A well-tailored black suit accentuated his strong shoulders and slender figure.

Song Zhiwei's heart skipped a beat.

It was him?

She could hardly believe her eyes.

Qin Yi noticed her unusual behavior and moved closer to her without making a sound.

He lowered his voice and spoke rapidly, offering his reminder.

"Attorney Song, be careful around the boss in the future. He's extremely meticulous about his work and can't tolerate the slightest carelessness. Even a wrong punctuation mark can make him furious on the spot. You need to know better and avoid stepping on his landmines."

She nodded slightly to indicate that she understood.

But my mind was still a complete mess.

She is still struggling to process the shocking truth before her.

Sheng Tingzhou is actually the founder and chief partner of Feiyun Law Firm?

The man approached step by step.

The black leather shoes made a soft but extremely imposing sound as they stepped on the floor.

As he passed by her, Song Zhiwei almost instinctively held her breath.

She could even smell the faint scent of cedar on him.

It has a faint, almost imperceptible, scent of tobacco.

Fortunately, Sheng Tingzhou didn't give her a second glance.

He walked straight to the innermost room, which had a sign that read "President's Office".

The atmosphere in the office only began to relax after he had completely disappeared from sight.

Some people let out a sigh of relief, while others lowered their heads and continued typing.

Everyone started talking in hushed tones again, but their tone was much more cautious than before.

"Zhiwei, do you think our boss is handsome?"

Seeing that she was still staring blankly at the closed door, Qin Yi smiled and leaned closer, teasing her.

"His looks and his charisma are simply irresistible."

Song Zhiwei snapped out of her daze and managed a weak smile.

He replied in a low voice.

"It's alright."

She had no time to comment on his appearance.

The thought of that day in the private room, when he knew perfectly well that she was about to join Feiyun Law Firm, made him realize how important it was.

However, he did not mention his own identity at all.

And she foolishly thanked him.

She was so embarrassed that her toes curled up, wishing she could disappear into the ground immediately.

"You'll be his assistant from now on, and you'll see him often, so be very careful."

Qin Yi reminded him again, his tone serious.

His eyes revealed a seriousness that could not be ignored.

"Um."

She responded, but her mind was elsewhere.

Perhaps it was a dream from a sleepless night, or perhaps it was that cold, aloof face that kept replaying in my mind.

Or perhaps, it's a sense of uncertainty and unease about the future.

Qin Yi stayed by her side all morning.

I patiently explained the law firm's organizational structure and internal rules and regulations to her.

There are also the daily tasks she needs to undertake as a junior assistant.

He explained every single detail in great detail.

They were afraid she would make a mistake as soon as she started working.

As a legal assistant, most of the time is spent doing trivial but important work.

She had already heard about this from her seniors.

I was already mentally prepared.

But she didn't expect that when she actually started working on it, the feeling of being surrounded by piles of documents would be so real and oppressive.

After a long day, I even had to grab a quick lunch at my workstation.

As she was about to leave work, Qin Yi walked over from the office across the street and handed her a document.

"This case is not complicated, the process is clear, and the evidence is complete. The boss specifically asked you to handle it, which is a small test for you."

Song Zhiwei took the document, glanced down, and saw that it was an ordinary civil contract dispute case.

She was a little surprised, her eyes widening slightly.

I originally thought that newcomers would have to endure at least half a month of menial tasks before they could get access to real case materials.

I didn't expect to get a case to handle independently on the very first day.

She looked up at Qin Yi solemnly and said, "Thank you."

He then quickly opened the document and carefully read through each page.

Working overtime is commonplace in law firms.

Around 9 p.m., people in the office building started packing up and leaving.

Song Zhiwei finally closed the folder.

She stood up and rubbed her stiff neck.

The night outside the window was deep, and the city's neon lights flickered in the distance.

She picked up her bag and coat, and slowly walked out of the office.

The night breeze gently caressed my face, carrying a slight chill.

This made her more aware of her situation.

Just as I reached the flower bed outside the company building, I suddenly heard the sound of an engine behind me.

A black Rolls-Royce slowly drove up and stopped in front of her.

Immediately afterwards, the passenger-side window rolled down.

She revealed a face that was familiar to her yet always made her heart race.

The man turned his head and his gaze fell on her face.

"Come on up, I'll take you home."

Song Zhiwei paused for a moment, then subconsciously took a half step back.

She and Sheng Tingzhou were not familiar with each other at all.

His sudden offer to take her home left her feeling somewhat bewildered.

She lowered her head and spoke softly.

"No need, I'll take the subway, though it might not be on my way."

After saying that, she secretly glanced at him before quickly looking away.

She knew perfectly well that someone like him would definitely live in a high-end gated community.

It's at least halfway around the city from where she rents her place in the old town.

Should I let him go that way?

How could that be?

She didn't want to cause trouble for others over such a small matter.

Sheng Tingzhou glanced at her indifferently, his eyes calm.

"You've slept under my bed before, haven't you?"

"ah?"

Song Zhiwei was completely stunned.

He froze on the spot, his eyes widening as if he had heard something unbelievable.

"Otherwise, how do you know we're not going in the same direction?"

He asked back slowly and deliberately.

Song Zhiwei opened her mouth, but was speechless for a moment.

My head was buzzing.

She remembered.

During her university years, a sudden downpour struck. She hadn't brought an umbrella, and the dormitory building was locked.

Sheng Tingzhou took her to his house for the night as he was passing by.

But that happened several years ago, how can he still remember it?

And you even brought it up?

Song Zhiwei's face turned even redder.

They could only stand there, as if they were nailed to the spot.

"Hurry up and get on, don't dawdle."

His tone turned serious, carrying an undeniable authority.

"If other colleagues see this, who knows what rumors will spread. If they say you're deliberately flirting with me, can you bear that reputation?"

Upon hearing this, Song Zhiwei's heart tightened suddenly.

She quickly looked around.

I was relieved after confirming that no one had passed by.

She took a deep breath and forcefully pulled open the car door.

He hurriedly got into the passenger seat.

The car started slowly, and the engine gave a deep roar.

Sensing the powerful aura of the man beside her, she subconsciously shrank back towards the car door.

"Are you sticking it so tight because you're planning to open the door and run away halfway through?"

Sheng Tingzhou turned his head slightly and glanced at her out of the corner of his eye.

A faint smile curved her lips.

Song Zhiwei frowned, her voice not loud but carrying a hint of stubbornness.

"I'm not that stupid, I wouldn't do that kind of thing."

"Oh."

He chuckled softly.

He originally thought the girl was introverted.
