Chapter 66 Why is he still so disobedient...?
The office fell silent for a moment; some even dared to turn on their webcams and start recording videos.
Huo Rou's arrogance grew stronger and stronger, wishing Jiang Shiyuan would disappear from her sight immediately.
"So?" Jiang Shiyuan looked at Huo Rou calmly, her face showing no sign of anger. Instead, a faint smile curved her lips as she spoke casually, "What do you think I should do now?"
Unexpectedly, Jiang Shiyuan reacted this way. Huo Rou was stunned for a moment, then immediately retorted sarcastically, "What? You've given up? If you ask me, you should get out of the Huo family immediately and stop coveting our family's assets. I'm saying this for the good of our Huo family. We can't just stand by and watch our huge family fortune be swindled away by an outsider like you."
"No matter whose family fortune it is, you won't get a share in the end." Jiang Shiyuan smiled sweetly, gently stroking her protruding belly. "You should know that the Huo family's property is always inherited by the eldest son and grandson, right?"
Huo Rou's face turned pale with anger at Jiang Shiyuan's words. She looked at the many employees in the office who were watching the commotion and said, "Did everyone hear that? This Mrs. Huo, whose identity has not been made public, is just a mistress who took advantage of her child to climb the social ladder. She's already thinking about seizing our family's assets before the child is even born!"
"A mistress who used her child to climb the social ladder?" Jiang Shiyuan shook her head, showing everyone the platinum diamond ring on her ring finger. "My husband and I have a marriage that is legally recognized as a voluntary union between both of us, and the child is something we both nurtured and hoped for."
"As for you..." Jiang Shiyuan's gaze suddenly turned cold as she looked at Huo Rou, "You keep saying you're protecting the Huo family, but are your words and actions now upholding the Huo family's reputation, or are they violating the Huo family's upbringing and manners?"
Jiang Shiyuan looked at her calmly, her voice not loud but loud enough for everyone in the office to hear clearly.
“I am standing here as Huo Lan’s wife. I respect everyone in the Huo family, including you. If you continue to use such unfounded malice to speculate and attack me, it will not only damage me, but also your brother Huo Lan’s reputation and the Huo family’s public image.”
"Can you shoulder this responsibility?"
Before Huo Rou could respond, Jiang Shiyuan looked at the many employees who were watching the two of them, who were on the verge of exchanging barbs, and bowed slightly, her demeanor elegant and proper: "I am truly sorry for delaying everyone's work. Let's leave it at that and please continue with your work."
Hearing the landlady speak, no one dared to take pictures or look around anymore, and they quickly bent down in their own work areas.
Jiang Shiyuan said to Jiang Chen behind her, "Let's go back." Then she turned to leave.
Huo Rou was already so angry that her chest heaved violently. She couldn't bear to see Jiang Shiyuan leave so elegantly. Overwhelmed by jealousy and rage, she took two steps forward and suddenly raised her arm, her hand whistling as she slapped Jiang Shiyuan hard across the face...
"Jiang Shiyuan, you really think of yourself as Mrs. Huo!"
A suppressed gasp rippled through the crowd.
However, the slap, imbued with full force and malice, failed to land as intended.
Just before it was about to touch Jiang Shiyuan, a hand with distinct knuckles and great strength gripped Huo Rou's raised wrist tightly.
"Ugh!" Huo Rou's wrist was gripped so tightly that it hurt, and the force was so great that she felt like her bones were about to break. Her forward momentum was abruptly stopped, and Huo Rou swayed awkwardly from the sudden obstruction.
She initially thought it was Jiang Chen, the bodyguard who was with Jiang Shiyuan, and was about to start cursing when she saw that the person who stopped her was actually Xie Shuning, the second young master of the Xie family.
"Ha..." As if she had caught Jiang Shiyuan's weakness, Huo Rou's eyes lit up immediately. "Xie Shuning, you're quick. Even her bodyguards didn't have time to react, but you couldn't wait to show up."
"That's true, I heard about you two..."
Xie Shuning's usually languid, smiling eyes were now as cold as stars. Instead of letting go, he gripped Huo Rou's wrist even tighter, so tightly that Huo Rou cried out in pain.
"I just can't stand seeing Miss Huo bullying people here..."
Seeing Huo Rou's face contorted in pain, Xie Shuning finally released his grip. The sudden force caused Huo Rou to lose her balance and almost fall to the ground.
Xie Shuning then turned around and looked at Jiang Shiyuan with a gaze he hadn't seen in a long time. It had been more than half a year since she returned the necklace he had given him.
"How have you been these past six months? I've heard all the news about you."
Only then did he notice a red mark on Jiang Shiyuan's face, scratched by Huo Rou's fingernails. Just as he reached out to touch it, he heard a chilling voice behind him, filled with suppressed anger.
"Don't touch her with your dirty hands."
Huo Lan, exuding a chilling aura, strode towards Jiang Shiyuan.
He rushed down from the top floor, only to find Xie Shuning trying to touch his face. His heart ached even more, but he forced himself to suppress the pain.
Huo Lan pulled Jiang Shiyuan into his arms, his fingertips gently touching the red scratch, and said in a voice so low that only she could hear, "Are you so unable to bear the loneliness? Did you know he was here too, and came down specifically to find him?"
Jiang Shiyuan felt as if she were in an ice cave, staring at Huo Lan in disbelief, unwilling to believe that such words could come out of his mouth.
Huo Lan straightened Jiang Shiyuan's body, using a force she couldn't resist to restrain her shoulders, and looked at Xie Shuning, saying, "I will handle my wife's affairs; you don't need to get involved."
Xie Shuning shrugged and spread his hands innocently, "Huo Lan, I didn't do anything. Do you think this big reaction is good for her?"
"It's none of your business." Huo Lan smiled politely and distantly. "This is a matter between my wife and me, and it's none of your business to judge."
His gaze shifted slightly to Huo Rou, who was quietly escaping behind Xie Shuning, and he said coldly, "Huo Rou deliberately insulted and spread rumors about my wife's reputation. It is my dereliction of duty as her brother. I will go back and discipline her properly."
This statement was addressed to everyone.
Despite his overwhelming anger, Huo Lan maintained his usual elegance and composure when looking at the employees in the office area. "Everyone, continue working. Don't let this delay your work progress."
After saying that, she smiled and quickly walked towards the elevator while holding Jiang Shiyuan's shoulders.
Only when they were alone did Jiang Shiyuan struggle to get up, shouting, "Let me go, Huo Lan! You're hurting me!"
Huo Lan didn't lessen his strength at all, leading Jiang Shiyuan into the private elevator. The elevator doors slowly closed, completely shutting out all outside attention and noise.
In the cramped space, the air seemed to be sucked out instantly, leaving only a suffocating sense of oppression. After the elevator started to descend, Huo Lan grabbed Jiang Shiyuan's chin and pinned her against the elevator wall.
The icy chill of the glass and metal seeped into my clothes from behind, but it couldn't compare to the freezing coldness in Huo Lan's eyes.
"Why are you still disobedient? Why?"
Before Jiang Shiyuan could answer, a kiss carrying a punitive meaning landed on her lips.
His hot breath enveloped her as he leaned down and bit her trembling lips, his tongue prying open her teeth and plundering her wildly until Jiang Shiyuan felt like she was about to suffocate, but he wouldn't let go.
"hiss--"
The sharp pain forced Huo Lan to stop. He looked at Jiang Shiyuan in disbelief, then sneered as he wiped the blood from his lips with his fingertip. "You've learned to bite?"
Jiang Shiyuan's chest heaved violently, and a trace of bright red blood stained her lips, making her face appear even paler.
She looked up at Huo Lan wiping away the blood, her eyes showing no fear, only a cold resolve.
“Yes.” Her voice trembled slightly, but every word was clear. “If you continue to insult and hurt me indiscriminately, I will do more than just bite.”
Huo Lan's eyes grew even colder, as if he wanted to devour her whole. "Insult? Harm?"
He repeated, his voice low and dangerous, "Jiang Shiyuan, I saw it all clearly just now. If I hadn't come, would you two have been hugging in public?"
"Have you forgotten that you are my wife? You met with Xie Shuning again without my permission, do you mean I'm dead?"
He straightened up and looked down at her, a hint of vulnerability on his face. "Even if I die, you must remain faithful to me."
During their argument, the elevator reached the private underground parking garage.
Huo Lan grabbed Jiang Shiyuan's arm and led her toward the understated, all-black Rolls-Royce. The door was opened, and he practically shoved her inside.
What exactly do you want?
After fastening Jiang Shiyuan's seatbelt, Huo Lan sat in the driver's seat. He didn't call for a driver or bodyguard, ignored Jiang Shiyuan's question, and started the car's engine.
Outside, the sky was bright, and people were bustling about on the streets, but the atmosphere inside the car was like an icebox.
Jiang Shiyuan didn't say anything more, but just covered her lower abdomen and looked out the car window.
Huo Lan drove slowly and steadily, but the scenery on the way back was different from when he left Huo Garden.
The increasingly unfamiliar scenery made Jiang Shiyuan panic, and her throat tightened. "Huo Lan, where are you taking me?"
Huo Lan didn't turn around, continuing to focus on driving. "Let's go somewhere, just the two of us. That way, you won't betray me."
Jiang Shiyuan felt suffocated, but she had no power to resist. She could only desperately try to calm herself down and not provoke Huo Lan into continuing his madness.
"Honey, I'm not feeling well, shall we go home?"
Huo Lan remained unmoved, and the car continued to move forward at a steady speed.
His voice was icy, devoid of any warmth. "Once we arrive, someone will take care of you around the clock. There's no need to worry."
The carriage fell into dead silence, with only the faint sound of the engine running smoothly.
The view outside the window gradually changed from the urban jungle to the coastal highway, and finally we drove into the wide coastal port.
There was no hustle and bustle of a public dock here, only the tranquil sound of the waves and a few luxury yachts moored. The most eye-catching was a giant yacht with sleek lines and an all-silver-gray hull.
Realizing what was happening, Jiang Shiyuan panicked and pounded on the car window in protest, "Huo Lan, I want to go back to Lingdang Xiaozhu. I want to go home. Anna has arranged classes for me tonight, and I can't miss them!"
The car came to a smooth stop at the boarding gate.
Huo Lan got out of the car first, walked around to the passenger side, and opened the door. The anger on his face seemed to have subsided, replaced by a more unsettling calm and an indifferent control over everything.
"Get out of the car." His voice was flat.
Jiang Shiyuan shrank back in resistance, "Huo Lan, let's talk again, okay...?"
Before she could finish speaking, Huo Lan bent down, put one hand under her knees and the other around her back, and easily lifted her out of the car.
Jiang Shiyuan gasped softly, her hands instinctively wrapping around his neck to maintain her balance.
Huo Lan glanced down at her, a cold smile curving his lips. "Soon, you won't make me angry anymore, and I won't have to worry about you leaving me every day."
He carried her and strode up the gangway connecting to the yacht.
Two rows of uniformed crew members and white-suited service staff stood respectfully with their heads bowed, well-trained enough not to glance at the two men.
"Mr. Huo, after receiving the message, we have made preparations as quickly as possible." The middle-aged man who looked like the captain stepped forward and reported respectfully, "We can set off at any time."
Huo Lan nodded slightly, and without stopping, walked straight through the spacious and luxurious living room to the master suite located at the front of the yacht.
His voice rang out above Jiang Shiyuan's head as he calmly instructed the people behind him: "Notify the island that we will arrive in two hours. Also, while on the island, cut off all non-essential communication signals to the outside world."
These words were like the last straw, breaking Jiang Shiyuan's illusions. He decided to completely cut her off from the outside world.
"Huo Lan!" Jiang Shiyuan struggled to get out of his arms. "You can't do this to me!"
Huo Lan easily restrained her movements, walked into the master bedroom, and gently placed her on the soft bed covered with a cashmere blanket. He braced his arms on either side of her body, trapping her in a small space, his gaze fixed on her.
“I can.” His tone was calm, yet authoritative. “I am your husband. I will take you to a place that belongs to us to rest and recuperate, avoiding unnecessary outside disturbances and…” He paused, then continued, “Harassment? Is there a problem?”
Jiang Shiyuan struggled, trying to escape from under him, but he pressed her shoulders down forcefully.
"Good boy, don't move around, or the baby in your belly will be scared. You don't want the baby to be scared, do you?"
Jiang Shiyuan's eyes welled up with tears as she said, "Huo Lan, this is illegal detention!"
"Detention?" Huo Lan chuckled, his fingertips tracing the faded red mark on her face. "I'm taking you on vacation, Mrs. Huo. We're going back to our home, how is that detention?"
"Oh, I forgot to tell you, before I even started preparing for our engagement party, I bought an island as our wedding venue. Now it looks like we'll have to use it sooner."
Just then, a slight vibration came from the yacht, the engine noise increased, and the scenery of the shore outside the window began to move slowly. The yacht had started.
Jiang Shiyuan realized that she had no chance of winning if she confronted him head-on during the voyage. She forced herself to calm down, and her voice was tinged with fatigue and weakness: "I'm very tired now and want to rest. I feel nauseous and want to vomit if I sit on the boat. Otherwise, let's go back to Huo Garden. I'll be good."
Seeing that Jiang Shiyuan had stopped struggling, Huo Lan released her from his grasp and began to caress her soft cheeks.
"That's great. My favorite thing about her is the obedient and well-behaved Shi Yuan." Huo Lan smiled cruelly, his eyes full of excitement at the prospect of having all of Jiang Shi Yuan. "The weather is great today. There won't be any bumps. We'll arrive at our new home smoothly."
He gradually relaxed, lay down on his side next to Jiang Shiyuan, and gently pulled her into his arms.
Jiang Shiyuan tried to calm herself down and continued to explain, "You misunderstood. I didn't come down to see Xie Shuning. I had no idea he was at the company! I was just feeling a bit bored in the office and wanted to get some fresh air. If you don't believe me, ask Jiang Chen. He knows everything!"
But Huo Lan ignored her and continued to hold her, talking to himself, "Shi Yuan, I'm so happy, you'll have nothing but me in your heart and eyes."
Huo Lan stroked her lower abdomen, feeling the life beating inside. "Look, Tuantuan is also very happy because the three of us are going to a place where it's just the three of us."
"Sleep well, sweet baby. When you wake up, we'll be at our new home."
Several hours later, the yacht's speed noticeably decreased.
A private island covered in green vegetation comes into view, and the yacht smoothly docks.
