Chapter 10 I Love You So Much That I Won't Go Home
Cheng Ti put the business card back on the table.
"I have no such intention."
He looked at her intently and asked, "Do you love him so much?"
She lowered her head and said slowly: "Of course, we are husband and wife, how can we not love each other."
"Really? He loves you so much that he won't go home?"
Cheng Ti thought that just that day, from a few words with Aunt Chen, he had discovered that Ye Siheng wasn't often home. Or perhaps he had already done some research. He always had a way to find out what he wanted to know, so Cheng Ti didn't argue, to avoid arousing further suspicion.
She just said: "I said it that day, this is my own business, none of your business."
Instead, he smiled: "Do you think I want to care about you? Do you think I still want to see you? Since you want to distance yourself from me, don't call me brother at the wedding." He looked at her, his tone calm, but his expression was gloomy. "Cheng Ti, you are provoking me."
She sat there and suddenly felt a little nervous.
It was raining heavily, and I didn't know when it started. The thunder seemed to be muffled in the hazy clouds. It was pitch black, and the light in the room only illuminated a piece of the window, reflecting the rustling sound of the heavy rain, which was white and fell so densely and so hurriedly that it didn't seem like a human world.
There was a vibrating buzzing sound, which was particularly obvious in the silence. Cheng Ti was stunned for a moment and found that it was her mobile phone in her pocket. She took it out and took a look.
"Our business isn't over yet." Shao Mengdong had seen who was calling from her face. His expression turned colder, and his tone was noticeably stiff as he said word by word, "Put the phone down."
He thought it was still six years ago?
Cheng Ti pretended not to hear and said politely, "Sorry, I have to go pick it up."
Almost as she stood up, Shao Mengdong leaned over, pulled her wrist away with one hand, and easily snatched the phone away. He glanced at the caller ID with more contempt and disdain in his eyes, and hung up directly.
“Give it back to me!”
Cheng Ti glared at him, and he glanced at her with a faint smile in his eyes. He gracefully let go of the phone, letting it land right in the cup of coffee on the coffee table. With a gurgle, the cup fell on the table, splashing coffee stains on her silk shirt and soaking the phone.
"Shao Mengdong!" Cheng Ti was stunned. She hurried to get her phone back, but she forgot that he was still holding her wrist, which hurt. She screamed, "Are you crazy?"
He didn't let go, but instead pulled her arm and forced her to look at him, his eyes as sharp as a knife, furious: "Am I crazy? I think you are crazy, that playboy is so good, how did he treat you, can such a mistake be forgiven, this is the man you chose, Cheng Ti, do you have a brain!"
He was so disappointed and angry, and so righteous in his words, with a completely stern look, just like a brother who was angry at his son for not fighting back.
Seeing that she remained silent for a long time, he laughed in anger, his voice full of cold sarcasm, "So this is your serious life."
The lightning that was suppressed in the dark clouds finally released, thunder rumbled, and a streak of bright light came from the horizon. Cheng Ti closed his eyes, smiled silently, and said softly with a breath as soft as orchid,
"No matter how indecent it is, it's still more decent than incest between brother and sister."
The lightning is but a momentary thing, and it disappears suddenly, like the sea level after the tide recedes, so calm as if nothing had happened.
He still maintained the posture of holding her arm. The two of them did not move, each looking away, but they were nowhere to hide in the three huge mirrors in the cloakroom.
Cheng Ti saw Shao Mengdong in the mirror.
The entrance hall light was only half on, casting a quiet, dim yellow, like the color of an old photograph. He was dressed neatly and meticulously in the light, his lips set tightly and his face stern, but Cheng Ti knew that he was thinking about that six months.
They maintained a secret relationship for half a year, starting in the summer when she turned eighteen and continuing until she left the country.
Just in bed.
The first time was an accident, so why would there be a second and a third? ... Perhaps because her mother's appearance announced the end of their fake relationship, Cheng Ti subconsciously rushed to grasp a new bond.
The bonds between people are nothing more than those kinds of things—
It’s okay to have hate without love;
It's okay to have sex even if there is no hatred.
Maybe Shao Mengdong slept with her out of hatred.
Out of revenge, revenge on this enemy's daughter whom he had raised with his own hands. So making love with him was always a little painful, but the sight of her in pain always made him extremely happy.
Especially when her body shook violently, she seemed to be living in a broken boat, with the silver-blue moonlight shining on her pillow, like a stormy sea at night, making her feel scared and helpless.
She wanted to hide in the safest place in the world, but for her, the safest place was just by his side.
It was obvious that he was the one who hurt her, and it was obvious that he hated her.
Her only request was to turn off the lights. She was afraid to look at him, afraid to see another woman through his eyes.
I probably started to hate him from that time.
What ended the silence was the ringing of a bell nearby.
Ding-ling-ling——Ding-ling-ling——
It was the ringing tone of the old landline. Cheng Ti was stunned for a moment and looked around subconsciously. Finally, he found that it was the intercom at the door that was lit up.
This apartment is right next to the hotel. Cheng Ti had seen its introduction in a magazine. There was a skybridge on the seventh floor that led directly to the opposite side, allowing residents of the apartment to enjoy the swimming pool, gym, lounge and wine storage room there. The property management team was naturally shared. Shao Mengdong walked over and pressed the hands-free button. The person opposite was probably the hotel butler.
"...Tonight, heavy rain has begun. The underground garage has been equipped with anti-water accumulation devices, making it inconvenient for vehicles to enter and exit. Please do not go out. If you must use a car, please contact us."
Shao Mengdong hung up the intercom before he could finish. Cheng Ti was already putting on her shoes. He walked quickly to her and looked down at her: "What are you doing?"
"Go home, Si Heng is waiting for me."
He watched her put her slender white feet into her high-heeled shoes with black silk straps, and said in a low voice: "How are you going back in this weather?"
She looked up and smiled, "If you'd like, you could lend me your phone so I can have him pick me up."
Having said that, she suddenly remembered something, stood up, and hopped to the coffee table with the foot that was not wearing high heels. She picked up the cell phone that was messed up in the coffee, and then picked up the lawyer's business cards next to it and wiped them.
Then he turned around, with a bit of self-mockery.
Her empty big eyes and pointed chin easily give her a cunning look.
"Brother, stop worrying about me and Si Heng. What will happen after the divorce... continue to be brother and sister, or be Mr. Shao's lover who can't be seen in public." She smiled, a little wickedly, "It doesn't seem to conflict... Anyway, it won't be a big deal if we get closer, just like before, just like now, you bring me home, and it won't arouse suspicion-"
Cheng Ti suspected that she was deliberately provoking him. Anyway, when he walked towards her with a gloomy face, she was indeed very nervous, and at the same time, she stiffened her neck, ready to accept his harsh ridicule and sarcasm at any time.
However, Shao Mengdong walked past her without even looking at her.
Entered a room inside.
Cheng Ti breathed a sigh of relief, unable to describe the feeling. She turned to think about how to get back to the hotel. After a while, she saw Shao Mengdong coming out again with something in his hand.
At this moment, Cheng Ti did not realize the seriousness of the problem. She planned to jump away from him and return to the shoe cabinet.
The next second, he grabbed her arm and dragged her backwards.
She almost fell and screamed, but Shao Mengdong was much taller and stronger than her, so it was impossible for her to fall. He dragged her to the master bedroom with one hand.
She was a little panicked.
Almost subconsciously: "Brother, brother——"
The door slammed shut with a loud bang like thunder. When Cheng Ti reacted, he had already pushed her into the room and heard the sound of clicking at the door - it turned out that he had just gone to get the key!
Cheng Ti slammed the door in frustration and fear: "What are you doing? Let me out!"
"Shut up! Take a shower and go to bed."
"No, I want to go back, Shao Mengdong! Shao Mengdong!"
There was no movement.
The tall door was so solid and sturdy that it made no sound even when kicked. The heavy curtains were drawn, making the whole room feel like an airtight vault. She had nothing but a water-damaged, frozen cell phone.
