Chapter 2 Let's Break Up
Watching the storage room door close, Chen Yaoan turned and walked out of the workshop.
However, just as she reached the door of her workshop, a group of people barged in, making the bells in her shop ring loudly.
Chen Yaoan frowned.
The group of people spoke rudely from the start, asking her, "Did a man just run in?"
Chen Yao'an glanced at them coldly, trying her best to avoid revealing any flaws, and said, "I didn't see anything."
"Bullshit! We clearly saw him run in!"
Huang Yuan gave a wink to his underlings behind him.
Then one of them nimbly walked over, pushed Chen Yao'an aside without saying a word, and then brazenly entered her workspace.
The people behind followed them inside.
They were rude; as soon as they entered her workroom, they started rummaging through it without any regard for propriety.
Fearing they would damage her things, Chen Yao'an had no choice but to stop them, saying, "Could you please stop rummaging through my things?"
However, they ignored her words completely, treating them as if they were air.
At that moment, one of them pushed open the door and entered the locker room.
Chen Yao'an's heart jumped into her throat instantly, her heart pounding like a drum.
She has already helped him, and if he is found out, it has nothing to do with her; he can only blame his bad luck.
Fortunately, the man looked around the changing room but didn't find the hidden door in the wall, and soon came out.
They quickly searched the work area and looked at other places as well, but they showed no sign of leaving.
Having no other option, she said, "You've all looked around, there's no one here. If you don't leave, I'll call the police."
Huang Yuan was not intimidated by her words. Instead, he glared at her, looking fierce.
Chen Yao'an felt a chill in her heart, but she knew she couldn't show any fear on her face at this moment.
She has been running her shop on this street for several years and has encountered many people causing trouble in her shop, including some local thugs. It is precisely at times like these that one must not panic.
The more you show fear, the more aggressive they will become; your fear will only fuel their arrogance.
Huang Yuan took a step toward Chen Yao'an.
Chen Yao'an was frightened and instinctively took a few steps back to distance herself from him. She then decisively took out her phone and made a call.
They weren't afraid of her calling the police, since it would take the police some time to respond, and by the time the police arrived, they would have already dealt with the woman and run away.
So Chen Yaoan's call was answered smoothly.
To ensure they could hear clearly, Chen Yao'an specifically switched to speakerphone.
A male voice came from the phone, "Hello, Yao'an."
"Gao Hou, someone is causing trouble at my shop." Chen Yao'an said quickly, her voice trembling slightly.
The man's voice on the phone immediately became tense, "I'm coming right now!"
When they heard her call the man on the phone "Gao Hou," the group exchanged glances.
The name Gao Hou was truly well-known to them; there were few people in the neighborhood who hadn't heard of him.
The police officers at Wenzhi Street Police Station are skilled and ruthless when it comes to arresting people. Sometimes they can catch a whiff of a suspect and come to him without even realizing it. Several of them have fallen into his hands without even knowing it.
Therefore, they all avoid this person when necessary.
It seems this woman is an acquaintance of Gao Hou, which is troublesome.
If this woman complains, none of them will escape, since they've been exposed, and the store now has security cameras.
Chen Yao'an also knew some of the rumors about Gao Hou, and obviously saw through their thoughts. "If you leave now, then let's just forget about it."
Although somewhat unwilling, Huang Yuan gave up and waved behind him, "Let's go."
Although he had accepted the money, he didn't want to go to the police station for this matter. He could teach Xu Jialan a lesson another day; there was no need to do it today.
Watching them leave the store, Chen Yaoan finally breathed a sigh of relief, and before she knew it, a layer of cold sweat had broken out on her back.
She calmed herself down a bit before saying to Gao Hou on the phone, "You don't need to come over, they've already left."
"Really not going to do it?" The voice on the phone sounded hesitant.
"Really, the person has passed away. Thank you."
Gao Hou on the other end of the phone felt relieved, but couldn't help frowning. "Why are you being so polite with me? You can call me anytime if you need anything."
"Okay, then let's leave it at that for now."
After hanging up the phone, Chen Yaoan turned and walked into the workroom, knocked on the fitting room door, and said, "The person has already left."
There was some noise coming from the fitting room after a while.
Xu Jialan slowly walked out of the fitting room, her earlier panic and dishevelment completely gone.
At this moment, he was playing with a silver lighter in his hand, on the outer side of which was engraved a majestic tiger.
Xu Jialan looked at her with a smile.
Chen Yao'an's gaze fell on his eyes. He had a pair of peach blossom eyes, which were captivating and alluring.
The only drawback was that he had dark circles under his eyes, his face was obviously tired, and his clothes were a few wrinkles.
Nevertheless, it could not conceal his noble and refined demeanor.
He was standing there, yet he seemed completely out of place in this small county town of Dai.
Chen Yaoan turned around to tidy up the workspace that had been messed up by those thugs.
Xu Jialan looked at the somewhat messy room and said, "I'm sorry, I can compensate you."
Chen Yao'an was tidying up the scattered paper patterns. She didn't even look up when she heard his words, her tone full of cold indifference and aloofness, "No need."
It wasn't that she was being generous; she had already checked and confirmed that there hadn't been any major damage, it just looked messy.
As Xu Jialan bent down to help her tidy up, she asked, "Are you sure you don't need to?"
Chen Yao'an glanced up at him briefly, then emphasized again, "No need."
Still an indifferent attitude.
Xu Jialan has dated quite a few girlfriends, but this is the first time he has encountered a woman who speaks to him so coldly.
He couldn't help but glance at her a few more times.
Chen Yao'an is undoubtedly beautiful, but her beauty is different from that of the women he has dated before, whether they are sexy or innocent.
She exuded an aloofness that kept people at arm's length, especially when her face was expressionless, this indifference and detachment were even more pronounced.
After tidying up, Xu Jialan suddenly smiled, walked closer to Chen Yaoan, and casually leaned against her cutting table, resting one hand on it.
He stared at her with an aggressive look in his eyes, then blatantly invited, "How about... I treat you to a meal to thank you for helping me earlier?"
He paused deliberately as he spoke, his words subtly provoking the reader.
When Chen Yaoan was studying in another city, she had seen young men like Xu Jialan before.
They live a life of recklessness and debauchery, taking advantage of their family's wealth and treating women casually, readily spouting ambiguous remarks.
Chen Yao'an didn't want to speculate about others, but the man in front of her gave her that feeling. Besides, she had overheard those thugs mentioning that their trouble with him seemed to be because of a woman.
She doesn't like such frivolous people.
"No need, I'm not interested in eating." Chen Yao'an refused decisively, leaving no room for negotiation.
Chen Yaoan's attitude was firm and her resistance was obvious, but Xu Jialan was not annoyed and maintained an indifferent and casual attitude.
He took a business card out of his pocket, placed it on the cutting table behind him, and said, "I owe you a favor. You can contact me if you need anything in the future."
Chen Yao'an wanted to refuse, but before he could say anything, he left first.
Chen Yao'an glanced at the black business cards with gold foil on the cutting table, but did not reach out to take them.
After tidying up the workshop, Chen Yaoan didn't stay long. She went to the front desk to keep an eye on the shop and planned to finish drawing the pictures.
She had just stopped at the front desk when she realized that the man from before was still there.
He was standing in front of her shop, lighting a cigarette with a lighter. After taking a drag, he stepped down the steps in front of her shop.
A few wisps of smoke drifted in through her wide-open shop door.
However, before he could take two steps, he was stopped by a girl who suddenly rushed out.
Her position at the front desk offered an excellent view, allowing her to see everything clearly.
Chen Yao'an didn't care about any of this and continued to do her own thing with her head down.
Xu Jialan was startled by Chu Yu's sudden appearance.
Chu Yu immediately looked Xu Jialan up and down and asked with concern, "Are you alright?"
As soon as she heard from her friend that Yanshuo had hired someone to teach Xu Jialan a lesson, she rushed over immediately.
Xu Jialan was not moved by her concern, but instead took a step back without making a sound, widening the distance between them.
Then, unexpectedly, she said, "Let's break up."
Chu Yu was still immersed in her concern for him and was stunned by his words. "What did you just say?"
I said, "Let's break up!"
This time, Chu Yu heard it clearly, but it was so sudden that it caught her off guard. "Why? Is it because Yan Shuo is causing you trouble?"
"When you were with me, you didn't mention that you had a boyfriend."
Chu Yu felt a little guilty for a moment, because when she was with Xu Jialan, she had not yet broken up with Yan Shuo.
However, she later made it clear to Yanshuo that now that she had finally found Xu Jialan, a man who was even better than Yanshuo, she didn't want to let go. Besides, she wasn't completely without feelings for Xu Jialan.
"So you want to break up with me because of this?"
Xu Jialan smiled, but her words were chilling: "Not entirely, I'm just tired of you too."
Chu Yu was stunned for a moment. She didn't expect Xu Jialan to get tired of her so quickly. They hadn't even been together for two months.
Xu Jialan didn't care about Chu Yu's reaction at all. She walked past her and left without a trace of lingering affection.
"Wait!" Chu Yu called out urgently, "Do you have another woman?"
Xu Jialan turned to look at her, but did not deny it.
Chu Yuxin's heart sank. Her eyes were filled with tears as she questioned him, "We've been together for a while now. Don't you have even the slightest feeling for me? You just want to break up like that!"
Unexpectedly, Xu Jialan suddenly sneered the next second, her voice cold and indifferent: "You seem to have misunderstood. I never talk about useless things like feelings."
The sound of their voices drifted into the shop on the wind.
really……
Chen Yao'an, who had been keeping her head down, still looked up at the two of them.
By this time, the man was nowhere to be seen at the door, leaving only the girl standing there, angry and heartbroken.
However, Chen Yaoan didn't take it to heart and forgot about the little incident as soon as she got busy.
It wasn't until the afternoon that she entered the workshop and saw the business cards on the cutting table.
She picked it up and glanced at it. The business card had no title; the black card simply had a name printed in gold foil.
Xu Jialan.
