Chapter 8: Late Return 8

Chapter 8: Late Return 8

Wen Shuyan's words interrupted Fu Yin's thoughts. She immediately raised her eyes, without any emotion in them, and stared at her smiling face for a long time.

Xu Ning frowned and kicked Fu Yin under the table, signaling her to reply quickly.

Her long, curly eyelashes drooped, the corners of her mouth were slightly open, and her mind was blank.

Seeing that she didn't speak, Xu Ning cast a cold look at her and cleared his throat: "Yinyin, why don't you respond when your sister-in-law talks to you?"

Fu Yin's expression froze and her body stiffened. She subconsciously looked at Lin Xu, her eyes seeming to ask him if he had the same idea.

Lin Xu avoided her gaze, unable to bear seeing her lost expression.

In an instant, she understood what he meant and just looked at Wen Shuyan with a smile: "Okay."

If that's what he wants.

Then she would naturally agree.

After the meal, Fu Yin was in a low mood. While Aunt Xu and Uncle Lin were talking to Wen Shuyan, she went straight to the balcony to get some fresh air.

At some point, Lin Xu also walked up to her side, with one hand in his pocket and a dignified demeanor.

Fu Yin was inexplicably irritated and reached out to pull at the potted plants that he usually liked to play with.

She plucked the leaves as if to vent her anger, and was about to pick the flowers, but the next second her wrist was grabbed by the man's warm palm.

"Why take it out on me?"

Lin Xu said in a calm tone.

"What else? Take it out on you, brother?"

Fu Yin's nose felt sore, and his fingertips grasped the leaf he had just torn off, squeezing it so tightly that he was about to crush it.

She and he planted this pot together.

She doesn't like to give things away, she would rather destroy them.

Lin Xu had a complicated expression, and his heart sank when he heard her choking voice.

He felt a pain somewhere in his heart, but he didn't know what to say.

He took out a handkerchief from the side pocket of his suit, handed it to Fu Yin, and then subconsciously raised his hand to touch her head, but realized something and quickly withdrew his hand: "Sorry."

"I don't want to hear it. We were kissing yesterday."

Fu Yin sneered, a hint of disappointment flashing across his eyes.

Lin Xu clenched the handkerchief in his hand, his face gloomy.

He lost control yesterday too.

"Brother shouldn't be like this. Do you dare to tell Sister Shuyan that you kissed me?"

Fu Yin's smile widened. He took a few steps forward and looked up at him with anticipation in his eyes.

Even if he regrets it now, she will run away with him.

She just loved him so mindlessly.

But he always looks like a good brother and a good son, and it is impossible for him to disobey his family.

"Ah Xu, Shu Yan is going back, why don't you send her off quickly?"

While talking to Wen Shuyan, Xu Ning noticed that the two of them were close to each other, so he grabbed Wen Shuyan's hand, turned around and called out.

"Stay here tonight. It's raining outside and it's not safe to go back." Lin Xu didn't answer her. He turned his head to respond to Xu Ning and then gave Fu Yin some instructions.

Fu Yin's eyes darkened as he watched him turn and disappear from his sight, with no light left in his eyes.

Her heart sank and she clenched her fingers immediately. She turned around, picked the only flower from the pot and threw it out of the balcony.

"Yin Yin, I've cleaned up your room for you. You haven't been back to stay here for a long time, so don't leave today."

Xu Ning walked forward, took her hand, curved his lips into a beautiful arc, and took her back to her original room.

Fu Yin was not used to having Xu Ning hold his wrist, and he always thought about how she kicked him out of the house.

Even after two years, she still can't let it go.

The furnishings in the room are still the same as they were two years ago, not much has changed, and it is clean and tidy.

It was obvious that someone cleaned it regularly, and the smell was her favorite floral scent.

"Your brother is getting married soon. I don't care what you thought before, but now there's no chance."

"You are all my children. How could I bear to abandon you?"

Xu Ning took the opportunity to persuade her earnestly, hoping to resolve their past grievances.

She has thought a lot in the past two years. She was indeed restricted a lot before, but she did it all for her future life.

She paved the way for her, and she will have a smooth journey in the future. This is something that many people cannot ask for.

"I've thought about your job as a TV reporter and it's not very respectable. I'll talk to someone about getting you transferred to a news anchor position. Being on TV is..."

“That’s enough!”

Fu Yin's body couldn't help but tremble, tears welled up in his eyes, and his scalp felt numb.

She thought Xu Ning had come to his senses, but it turned out he still wanted to control her.

"I just like my current job and I haven't thought about changing it."

Fu Yin took a deep breath and felt extremely depressed when he thought of what Xu Ning said.

"What's wrong with that? I'll find you a decent job and you'll be more comfortable with it. I've already given in. Can you please stop being so willful?"

"I've tolerated whatever happened to you before. I've prepared the bath water for you. You're tired, so go to bed early."

Xu Ning was startled by her excitement and his face turned pale. After he finished speaking, he immediately slammed the door shut.

Fu Yin's legs went limp, and he reached out to grab the door handle and leaned against the door to barely hold on.

She has been feeling a little tired these days, and she has no energy because she didn't get enough rest.

Xu Ning's words were still echoing in my mind, and my head felt like it was about to explode with severe pain.

She calmed down and sat on the bed for a long time. Suddenly, she saw a small box under the wardrobe and suddenly remembered that it contained the letter she had secretly written to Lin Xu.

After Lin Xu left, she would write a letter every day and send it out.

However, those letters were returned unopened a week after they were sent out, and there was no success.

At that time, she was thinking that maybe Lin Xu didn't want to contact her, so he refused to accept it.

Fu Yin squatted down and pulled the box out from under the wardrobe, but found that the lock on the box had been smashed.

She frowned and opened the box with trembling hands, only to find that there was nothing inside.

What about those letters?

Fu Yin began to search the room, checking every drawer, but couldn't find it.

She slumped down on the bed, holding the box in her hand and smiling bitterly.

There is only one possibility, Xu Ning threw all of that away when he was cleaning up.

There are also a few photos of her and Lin Xu, taken when they were in high school.

All the memories that belonged to them were cleared away by Xu Ning.

Fu Yin found it ridiculous. The room was a mess. She took a change of clothes and went into the bathroom.

When I came out of the bathroom, I heard a car horn outside the window.

She walked barefoot to the window, opened the curtains and looked out. The black SUV was parked downstairs.

Lin Xu got out of the car, leaned against the car with an umbrella, took out his mobile phone from his pocket and tapped the screen.

A few minutes later, her cell phone rang. It was that familiar number.

She had just pulled him out this morning and now she had forgotten to pull him back in.

Fu Yin held the phone, listening to the repeated vibrations, but never pressed the answer button.

Lin Xu didn't give up either. He looked up at her room and noticed the figure by the window.

He called several more times, and he would keep calling as long as Fu Yin didn't block him.

The call went through.

"Why are you calling right downstairs?" Fu Yin said sarcastically.

"Because there are some things that cannot be said there." Lin Xu remained calm, but his inner emotions had already been surging, and he was almost going crazy.

Fu Yin's every step closer, every word she said, every expression on her face, her hooking him and kissing him, all drove him crazy.

"Will my brother be afraid too?" Fu Yin stared at the dark figure in the rain.

Although they were just upstairs and downstairs, it was the farthest distance between them.

There is an unbridgeable gap between them. If possible, she even hopes that she will not become the adopted daughter of the Lin family.

But she was also afraid that if she had not become the adopted daughter of the Lin family, she would never have met Lin Xu, and he would have belonged to someone else.

Fu Yin's lips were tightened, and the emotions in his eyes became even more complicated when he thought of these things.

"Yin Yin, I don't want to get married."

"Let's run away."

——

The next morning, Fu Yin was called away by the TV station. She didn't even look at the breakfast on the table.

Xu Ning stared at her hurriedly leaving figure and sighed: "I don't know when she will come back next time."

"You're the one who pushed her too hard. Now that she's grown up, she won't listen to us anymore." Father Lin responded helplessly.

"That's because you spoiled her before." Xu Ning rolled his eyes at Lin's father. Neither of them was any good, but they kept passing the buck.

TV station.

Fu Yin was in a hurry and was called away by Lan Tian as soon as he arrived at his workstation.

"This outsourcing has been confirmed to be in Lin City. The situation there is quite complicated right now. Bring your equipment and two team members with you. Be sure to get first-hand information."

Lan Tian threw a document to Fu Yin and spoke in a hurried tone.

Fu Yin frowned, flipping through the documents and asked, "Is it so urgent? Are we leaving today?"

"What? Didn't you swear yesterday that you could complete this project? Now you're backing down?"

Lan Tian said sarcastically, and when he saw Fu Yin's hesitation, he curled his lips again, "If you regret it, what I said before still counts. Beg me, and I will give you a good project."

The man was about to reach out again when he spoke, but Fu Yin immediately took a step back, his expression becoming serious: “No, I just feel it’s a bit hasty, but I can do it.”

"You don't know what's good for you." Lan Tian said coldly.

Fu Yin's figure had already disappeared from the office.

Leaving the office, Fu Yin clapped his hands and called out to the rest of the team: "I need two people to go with me to Lin City to do some outsourcing. It's about financial fraud against the elderly. This project is a bit dangerous. Are there any volunteers?"

Everyone in the group fell silent when they heard this. Lin City is several districts away from Beijing City, and the weather there is bad. Not only is the project dangerous, but it is also very likely that they will not be able to adapt to the local climate.

"I'm willing to go! Senior sister, I'm willing to go. You guys always pat your chests and say you'll always follow Sister Fu Yin, but in the end you fall flat on your face when it comes to the crucial moment!"

The new intern Xu Muzhou was the first to stand up and volunteer. He quickly walked up to Fu Yin and winked at her.

Several team members shuddered, feeling somewhat disgusted, and silently complained, "I think you are just holding onto selfish motives. You obviously like Fu Yin!"

"So what? I do like Sister Fu Yin."
