0099 Lighting the Lamp (Part 4)
That day, Shu Fu slept soundly until late afternoon before waking up. During that time, Mianmian came to bring her afternoon snack. Seeing that she was sleeping so peacefully, she did not wake her up, but simply placed the food box on the table and left.
But when she woke up, the abdominal pain was still unbearable, and she had no appetite. She rinsed her mouth with water infused with dried flower petals, lit a lamp herself, and returned to her bed to continue reading.
Zhan Yaoguang darted in through the window at that moment. Shu Fu heard the noise he made, but without turning her head, she continued to turn a page of the book in her hand and said listlessly, "There's today's afternoon snack on the table. I don't have an appetite, so you can eat it all... It might be a little cold, but it's your own fault for coming back late, so don't blame me..."
The boy was wrapped in the thin chill of the spring night, and his cheeks were also a little cold. He noticed that Shu Fu was down and wanted to cheer her up, so he hugged her from behind and pressed his cold cheek against her warm shoulder.
"Afu, I'm exhausted."
Shu Fu felt much more energetic after being chilled by Zhan Yaoguang. She turned to look at him and snorted twice: "What's there to be tired about? You clearly left me behind to go out and play, but now you want to come to me and act pitiful. What a cunning little gentleman!"
She herself was feeling unwell and was trapped in a small room. She couldn't bear to see others having fun, so she deliberately spoke sarcastically to him.
Zhan Yaoguang also snorted, mimicking her: "Afu always wrongs people. I only went out this time for your sake!"
"For me?" Shu Fu raised her delicate eyebrows, put down her book, turned around and sat facing him. "Then tell me. If it's some title that's been given to me out of thin air, I won't accept it!"
Zhan Yaoguang took out the sugar jar and showed it to her: "Your hands were cold when I went out this morning. When I was at home, several of my sisters in the clan had the same problem. My grandmother specially got this recipe from Fenghuang to make candy for them, and they all got better after eating it."
"Really?" Shu Fu's abdomen was aching badly, but her eyes lit up when she heard this. "Let me take a look."
He handed the item to her. Shu Fu didn't know what the candy was made of at first, thinking it was just the most common kind of candy ball. But as soon as she got a little closer, the unpleasant smell of ginger hit her face.
"It's ginger again!" Shu Fu's eyes widened, and she looked at Zhan Yaoguang with a rather aggrieved expression. "Even you are going against me. You know I hate this!"
Zhan Yaoguang knew best that Shu Fu was only responsive to gentle persuasion and not force, so she immediately adopted a submissive demeanor: "If you don't want to..."
"don't want!"
"...Then you can throw it away. I only got burned once, it's not serious, it will be fine on its own in a couple of days."
"What do you mean?" Shu Fu looked at him hesitantly.
The boy stretched out his index finger under her eyes, revealing a bright red mark on the fingertip. He then turned it over, revealing another red mark on the back of his hand, indicating that he had been burned by something not long ago, and more than once.
"I made that thing myself. I'm not very good at using the pot for boiling sugar. I boiled the syrup twice and burned my hands three times, but I finally managed to make it... If you don't want it, that's fine. I'm not that sad."
Zhan Yaoguang lowered his eyes, his long, thick eyelashes brushing against his eyelids. A bird-fish lamp beside the couch emitted a drop of starlight, as if gently touching the corner of his eye.
Shu Fu felt a slight tingling in her heart. Even though she knew he was most likely trying to win her over, she still couldn't help feeling sad.
"...Zhan Yaoguang, I hate you so much!" Shu Fu swept her hair back, turned her face away from him, opened the jar, took out a piece of ginger candy, put it in her mouth, chewed it in a few bites, and swallowed it with great difficulty.
The strange taste, both spicy and sweet, instantly filled her mouth, making her eyes water. But when she opened her eyes, she saw Zhan Yaoguang staring intently at her without blinking.
Shu Fu was a little annoyed and didn't want to suffer alone, so she stood up, crawled forward two steps, and got right in front of him. Taking advantage of his unpreparedness, she grabbed his neck and pressed her lips firmly against his.
Zhan Yaoguang was in a daze, only to feel a soft tip of ginger being slipped into his moist lips, rubbing against his tongue and filling his mouth with the sweet and spicy smell of ginger.
He also disliked the strange taste of ginger candy, which was both sweet and spicy, and instinctively tried to avoid it. However, Shu Fu took advantage of the situation and sat on his lap, locking his knees firmly against him, forcing him to lean against the wall.
He had no choice but to gently reach out and hook his arm around her waist, tilting his head back as the girl opened her soft, red lips and began to bite and suck on them wantonly.
Shu Fu felt a little dizzy, and she bit down hard, but her breathing was hot and beautiful. Her tongue tip was tender and red, and she pushed it towards her own mouth, but she didn't dare to go deeper. She just timidly stopped in front of her teeth and licked it.
But no matter how awkward and restrained their movements may be, the emotions of young people are always easily ignited, spreading like wildfire, with sweet saliva secreted more and more, as if a delicate sweet apricot has been crushed.
Zhan Yaoguang felt much better, her eyes brightened, and she rubbed her wet lips down, biting her chin with her teeth before moving on to kiss her fair neck.
The dim candlelight in the inner room flickered and burned her heart. Her mind cleared, and she immediately pulled away, her dark, brimming eyes looking at the bewildered face in front of her. She said, "Don't move. I'm on my period. You can't do those things."
Zhan Yaoguang paused, his consciousness gradually returning. He buried his head in her neck, murmured "Mmm," and then said, "I know."
As soon as he said it, he felt unwilling to give up. He gently brushed his eyelashes against the tender flesh of her neck, which indeed made him tremble slightly.
"I just want to kiss you, really just one kiss."
"So where are you planning to kiss?"
Zhan Yaoguang's gaze swept over her face, not daring to look down, for fear of giving her away. He simply replied, "Your face. Just let me kiss your face."
Shu Fu thought about it seriously for a moment, then looked back at him and said, "Alright."
After saying that, she stretched her cheeks into a small white arc and slowly leaned in.
Zhan Yaoguang had only intended to find an excuse for his lapse in composure, but he hadn't expected her to actually agree. Before he could even process what was happening, his lips were already pressed against her cheek with a loud "smack."
Shu Fu felt a chill run down her spine, and her ears instantly burned. She still couldn't understand how someone could make such a sound when kissing.
He was so dizzy that kissing her left cheek wasn't enough. He cupped half of her face in his hands and moved his hand to her right cheek.
Shufu's cheeks were wet and itchy, so she reached out and pushed him again.
Zhan Yaoguang was startled awake again, but her restless heart could not be calmed. She lay on her shoulders and neck for a moment, still feeling an overwhelming heat drilling into her bones. Her marrow was scorched by this heat, and water dripped out with each drop.
"I won't kiss you anymore." Zhan Yaoguang suddenly released her, stood up straight on the ground, and turned his back as if he was about to walk away.
Shu Fu stared at him blankly until he was almost at the opposite window, at which point she finally realized what he was about to do.
"Zhan Yaoguang—"
The boy did stop, but didn't turn to look at her.
Shu Fu said, "This is not my home, and there is no bathhouse nearby."
"..."
"Besides, people are constantly going in and out of the hot spring to check the water temperature, so you'll be discovered if you go there."
He still didn't move.
“It’s alright,” Shuf said again. “You can stay here. I don’t mind.”
After a few breaths of silence, Zhan Yaoguang finally moved. He looked around the inner room, preparing to hide behind the bird feather screen, but Shu Fu spoke again: "Won't you feel uncomfortable standing here?"
Zhan Yaoguang turned slightly to the side, his pupils jet black, his voice slightly hoarse: "What do you mean?"
She spoke several times, as if trying to persuade him to stay. What did she mean by that?
Shu Fu remained silent for a while, then finally said, "Could you come over and do it so I can take a look?"
