Chapter 29: Conspiracy?

The second day after entering the edge of the abyss.

After breaking through to the Martial Master level, Jiang Wuyuan discovered that he could go up to a week without sleeping.

So he traveled day and night, diligently working on the front lines of hunting monsters.

After a day's work, Jiang Wuyuan finally found a sheltered pile of sand and rocks, took out the nutrient solution he had prepared in advance from his spatial ring, and drank it all in one gulp.

He didn't plan to stay here for long, so he needed to find the swallowtail grass as soon as possible to complete his mission.

As its name suggests, the swallowtail grass resembles the tail of a swallow soaring through the air.

It grows on steep, dry cliffs.

Jiang Wuyuan realized he had been presumptuous. He had assumed that the edge of the abyss would be a strange place with towering mountains and jagged rocks, but it turned out to be a desolate desert.

"Swallowtail grass shouldn't grow in a place like this," Jiang Wuyuan thought silently.

After resting for a while, Jiang Wuyuan decided to try his luck again.

What if?

Moreover, he can hunt monsters along the way, so he's not at a loss.

However, Jiang Wuyuan's movement of getting up was quickly interrupted, and he squinted his eyes as he looked ahead.

Amidst the swirling yellow sand, a figure in white slowly approached.

"Senior Ruan?" Jiang Wuyuan walked over calmly to Ruan Kongyin, a dark glint flashing in his eyes.

Why did Ruan Kongyin come here?

“Junior, I’ve come to see you.” Ruan Kongyin smiled gently. “I think you might need some help.”

Jiang Wuyuan admired Ruan Kongyin's frankness, but he didn't plan to travel with anyone else: "Thank you, senior, but I..."

Ruan Kongyin interrupted him: "As the vice president of the student council, I have the authority to sense your location through the badge you are wearing. In addition, I also know the task you accepted: ten swallowtail grasses, right?"

Jiang Wuyuan gazed into Ruan Kongyin's clear eyes and nodded slightly: "Yes."

“The borders of the Abyss are extremely vast and the terrain is extremely complex. The desert you see now is just one part of this environment, and it’s the closest to our Zhantian City,” Ruan Kongyin explained. “Further west, there is a region crisscrossed with ravines and numerous canyons. Perhaps you can find the swallowtail grass you need there.”

Jiang Wuyuan truly didn't know that much.

"Thank you for the information, senior." Jiang Wuyuan said earnestly.

Regardless, he was grateful that Ruan Kongyin had come all the way here to find him and brought him such important information.

Ruan Kongyin smiled and said, "Why don't we go together? I didn't come empty-handed this time. I also took on a Tier 1 quest to kill a Tier 4 magical beast. The location is also near the canyon, so it's convenient to go that way."

Jiang Wuyuan had no reason to refuse and walked side by side with Ruan Kongyin.

"Do you have any means of flight?" Ruan Kongyin asked.

Although he had never seen Jiang Wuyuan fly on a sword, judging from the distance Jiang Wuyuan had covered from Zhantian City to here in just over a day, he didn't believe that Jiang Wuyuan didn't have some means of traveling quickly.

It's absolutely impossible to travel that far if you can't fly!

“Yes, I can fly.” Jiang Wuyuan took out a flying sword, leaped onto it, and asked, “Does senior need one?”

He knew that a Grand Martial Master could stay airborne for a short time, but not for an extended period, so he didn't mind giving Ruan Kongyin a ride.

Ruan Kongyin looked at Jiang Wuyuan standing on the flying sword, her eyes sparkling with admiration, and she was very tempted.

Although he also has the skill to fly for long periods of time, who can resist flying on a sword?

“Yes, we need to.” Jiang Wuyuan heard Ruan Kongyin say this.

Jiang Wuyuan did as he was told, taking out another flying sword and controlling it to land at Ruan Kongyin's feet: "Don't be afraid, you won't fall."

Ruan Kongyin followed Jiang Wuyuan's example and stood up. As soon as he was in place, Jiang Wuyuan immediately activated his sword control technique.

Two sword lights instantly pierced the sky and disappeared into the vast yellow sand.

——

After traveling at top speed for half a day, the two finally arrived near the canyon.

The terrain here is treacherous, with pebbles and vines everywhere.

The rushing stream cascades down from the bottom of the canyon, looking extremely dangerous.

“This is it.” Ruan Kongyin gestured for Jiang Wuyuan to land. “The swallowtail grass is brightly colored and not hard to find, but there might be guardian beasts nearby, so be careful.”

"Thank you for your guidance, senior."

Ruan Kongyin said helplessly, "I've heard that so many times I'm sick of it. From now on, there's no need for thanks between us."

Jiang Wuyuan's calm expression flickered slightly. He glanced at Ruan Kongyin with a complicated expression, then looked away: "Since you say so, senior, then I shall accept it."

As the two were talking, a thick jet of water gushed out from the rushing stream, heading directly towards Jiang Wuyuan and Ruan Kongyin.

Jiang Wuyuan's pupils contracted. He remembered that Ruan Kongyin was a mage, and as a warrior, he should be in front of her.

A perfectly round sword and shield!

clang!

Jiang Wuyuan quickly blocked the attack, and Ruan Kongyin's attack followed.

Extreme Wind - Strangulation!

As the rapid piano music began, a gentle breeze swept by and rushed towards the monster in the stream.

In the gentle breeze, a deadly intent was revealed.

When Jiang Wuyuan looked in the direction of the sound, he saw that the stream had been dyed red in an instant, and the unknown magical beast had lost its life in an instant.

Very strong.

This is Jiang Wuyuan's evaluation of Ruan Kongyin.

“It’s a type of water beast commonly found in canyon areas. Because it can spray extremely high jets of water, even flying cannot completely avoid its harassment,” Ruan Kongyin said slowly in a gentle and elegant voice. “However, they are generally not of a high level, so once you find their true form, they are not difficult to deal with.”

Jiang Wuyuan nodded.

"In that case, I'll go and finish my mission first." Ruan Kongyin was used to Jiang Wuyuan's taciturn nature, and said goodbye with a smile, "We'll meet again at the academy. I wish you success in your mission."
