Chapter 209: Intensifying

Chen Kuang didn't look back, but he knew that the three demons must be looking at him with satisfaction.

As for what emotions were in their eyes... or in their holes, Chen Kuang had no idea, but they were most likely filled with malice.

The "devil" that comes from the desire realm should be naturally full of possessiveness and destructive desire towards the real world.

After this gathering at the Galan Temple, the Pure Land Temple held a seven-day vegetarian banquet. Believers wore flowers, held fragrant fruits in their hands, walked on the streets, sang and laughed, and prayed for each other.

The monks put down their wooden fish and rosaries and wandered the streets, enjoying the feast.

Everyone had a smile on their face, and their doors were not locked at night. The pagodas and stupas were brightly lit, and the smoke from incense almost covered the sky, making it look like a paradise.

Chen Kuang was the center of the banquet, and the returning Buddhist disciple Lion Heart was also pulled to sit on the golden lotus throne said to be left by the Buddha. They traveled almost all over the Pure Land in a gorgeous sedan chair. Wherever they went, the streets would be deserted and the cars would be filled with flowers and fruits.

The grand scene of worship and praise even reminded Chen Kuang of the legend of watching Wei Jie die.

If he had not always remembered the ferocious faces of the three demons, he would have been bewitched by this prosperous scene and immersed himself in the transcendent, clear, ethereal and otherworldly atmosphere of the Pure Land.

The more clearly he saw the appearance of the three demons, the more cold sweat broke out on Chen Kuang as he sat in the gorgeous sedan chair, looking at the people indulging in joy amid the incense through the fluttering layers of gauze curtains and prayer flags.

This is called flattery...

According to the plan of these three demons, they have calculated people's desires. After such a scene, what does it matter even if Chen Kuang has ulterior motives?

Who would be willing to give up such power above everyone else, who would be willing to give up those heartfelt pious praises and fanatical worship?

As long as Chen Kuang sits on the golden lotus throne, he can control people's life, death and thoughts with just a command and a thought. Such supreme and unrestrained power is a thousand times more terrifying than that of an earthly emperor.

Once you have a slight desire like this, you can only agree with them and be used by them.

It’s a pity that Chen Kuang’s personality is really different from ordinary people.

Although he did not hate power and wealth, he did not feel much towards them. What he wanted was only between life and death.

In other words, either seek life in death or seek death in life.

To a certain extent, this can actually be regarded as the obstacles and inner demons left to him from his previous life.

But because of this, the desire that is irresistible to ordinary people is of no use to Chen Kuang.

The parade took only three days. For the next four days, Chen Kuang stayed in the Galan Temple to discuss Zen with the Pure Land monks who came here to visit.

Although he himself had no research on Buddhism, the red lotus of karma contained all of Lionheart's past thoughts.

Therefore, even when talking with many eminent monks, Chen Kuang never showed any fear.

Occasionally, some sophistry theories that I came into contact with in my previous life would prevail.

During these seven days, Chen Kuang had determined, through some theories about demons that he had mixed into the debate, that once the three demons left the meditation room, their perception would be almost zero, and their consciousness would be trapped in their bodies and unable to be released.

Otherwise they would not have allowed Chen Kuang to secretly warn them.

If you think about it carefully, if these three saints could do whatever they wanted, then there would be no place for Chen Kuang and the Pure Land would have been destroyed long ago.

However, Chen Kuang also took this opportunity to discover that there were accomplices to these three demons among the monks. He wondered if they were also "demons" occupying human bodies.

But what puzzled Chen Kuang even more was the Bodhi tree in front of his meditation room.

When he returned to his room on the day of the rally, he discovered something unusual—

There were a few more drops of blood under the Bodhi tree.

And it is fresh, human blood.

Chen Kuang's heart sank, and he judged that the blood must have appeared last night.

But he didn't sense anyone appearing near his room at that time...so there was only one possibility.

There is a big problem with this Bodhi tree!

However, no matter how Chen Kuang tried to communicate with the Bodhi tree, it would only repeat "You are back".

If others come to this Bodhi tree to attain enlightenment, there will be no problem.

Chen Kuang and Xiu Xin gradually became familiar with each other. When he mentioned the Bodhi tree, the latter never noticed anything unusual. He even attained enlightenment under this Bodhi tree.

Chen Kuang even wanted to cut the Bodhi tree open to take a look, but this was a holy tree of the Pure Land. Even if he was a Buddhist, he would be hunted down if he cut down the tree for no reason.

But the idea didn't go away.

It gradually became a more complete idea.

Chen Kuang called Xiuzhu to discuss the matter, and the next day they had a Zen discussion on the topic of "cultivating the mind".

Chen Kuang believed that only after experiencing all kinds of worldly things could one cleanse one's heart, while Xiuzhu believed that if one's mind had already been as clear as a mirror, one naturally did not need any external assistance. The two held different opinions and parted unhappily.

The monks who heard the Zen discussion were divided into two factions. They argued for several days but still reached no conclusion.

After seven days, the Pure Land returned to normal, but when Chen Kuang walked onto the street, he could clearly sense that both the believers and the monks had an unsatisfied indulgence on their faces.

The rules and regulations that we had long been accustomed to suddenly seemed to become shackles on our bodies, restricting our hands and feet.

Over the next month, the situation began to escalate.

The desire that had been bound for too long was finally released. It could be calmed down in three days, but on the seventh day, there seemed to be a sense of irreversibility.

Many believers began to spontaneously organize banquets to entertain monks in the name of goodwill, and many monks, who were supposed to be self-disciplined and strictly refrain from enjoying themselves, also chose to accept the invitation.
