Chapter 5: Substituting One for Another

Li Hongling snorted without comment.

The two people in front of him were naturally the mysterious "Master Immortal" mentioned by the jailer.

But only the middle-aged man Wei Su is one of them.

Wei Su is the son of the leader of the "Three Tribulations Sect", the largest sect in the Great Zhou Dynasty. He brought disciples from the sect to assist the Zhou army in conquering cities.

And this Shen Xingzhu is the disciple of Xuanshen Taoism and the direct disciple of the Earth Spirit Yuanjun "Qingpingzi".

The Xuanshen Dao sect does not belong to any country. Its 70,000 disciples occupy a state called Fuli - in fact, it is basically a country of its own.

This sect claims to be absolutely neutral and worships the Lord of Morality. Its disciples often travel to various countries to lobby in order to stop the wars that are breaking out in today's chaotic world.

The war between Zhou and Liang had a wide impact.

It is not surprising that Shen Xingzhu appears here.

But for Li Hongling and the Three Tribulations Sect, it is a huge obstacle.

"It's okay to take a look, I hope Master Shen is really just taking a look."

"General Lee doesn't seem to trust me."

"Heh... no, the Xuanshen Dao Sect is so famous, how dare we not trust them?"

"My Xuanshen Dao Sect does not participate in worldly disputes. As long as the reason for sending troops is legitimate and it does not harm the way of heaven, we will not take action."

Shen Xingzhu's eyes behind the green veil remained calm and peaceful.

Li Hongling narrowed her eyes:

"Of course, if it weren't for Su Yu's repeated provocations and insults to our ancestors of the Great Zhou, which was unbearable, this war could have been avoided. It's really regrettable."

She waved her hand at the adjutant and said, "Master, when you speak, there is no reason to neglect it."

The adjutant hurried forward: "Master Shen, please, I will take you to the torture chamber."

After Shen Xingzhu left, Li Hongling said impatiently:

"Master Wei, didn't you promise that you could trick her away?"

"If I let something slip during the interrogation and let her know what he's planning, you know the power of those psychopaths from the Xuanshen Dao Sect."

Wei Su waved his fan and said, "If she doesn't want to leave, how can I possibly invite this Grandmaster Buddha?"

Li Hongling's scarlet eyes were very unfriendly.

He turned the fan over helplessly, and the ink on it gradually appeared, forming the three words "Eternal Life Lock".

"Don't worry. I've already made all the necessary arrangements over the past few days. In a moment, the concept of 'Eternal Life Lock' within this city will be temporarily replaced. No matter who reveals it, she won't know."

Li Hongling's eyes flashed:

"I've heard of Master Wei Xian's 'stealing the sky and replacing the day' technique. It's so miraculous."

She asked in a deep voice:

"What did you replace it with?"

Wei Su smiled slightly:

"The law is not to be passed on to others. General, please listen closely."

Fifty thousand people?

I saved 50,000 people with just one steamed bun?

Why?

Why?

Chen Kuang was awakened by the updated status bar in the middle of the night. He thought about it all night but still couldn't figure it out.

In comparison, even the passive effect of "Fasting" becomes secondary.

There were not many Liang people left in this imperial city, so these 50,000 people were naturally the 50,000 Zhou troops stationed here.

He just distributed the steamed buns to Lady Liang, so why could he indirectly save the lives of those 50,000 Zhou soldiers?

Is there something wrong with Mrs. Liang?

Could it be that this is the true darkness under the lamp...

Chen Kuang even began to suspect that Lady Liang was a spy from the Zhou army and was trying to trick him.

"That's not right. If they suspected me, even if there was a slight possibility, I would be dead now."

Chen Kuang muttered to himself.

He looked suspiciously at Lady Liang who was sleeping soundly in the corner, holding the little princess like a toy pillow, without any guard against her.

The sky was getting light, and the strange starlight gradually faded away.

But when Chen Kuang looked carefully at Lady Liang, he found something unusual.

The beautiful woman is so white that she seems to be glowing...

He originally thought it was just the fair skin and the contrast of the night light.

But it was already daytime, and the beautiful woman was still shrouded in a hazy, faint white halo, which made her vaguely feel sacred and inviolable.

What's this?

Chen Kuang narrowed his eyes. His passive ability of "Seeing Through Fire" allowed him to see through all falsehoods and disguises.

In other words, this is the true state of Lady Liang.

But he couldn't understand what this halo represented.

The jailers who came to deliver food in the morning had been replaced by a new group of people. They all looked a little nervous. It was obvious that the sudden battle last night was very fierce.

The Zhou army did not have an absolute advantage...which was a good thing.

Chen Kuang groped his way to the edge of the cell. He heard the sound of chains rubbing against each other. Huo Hengxuan was taken away for interrogation by several jailers again.

Huo Hengxuan looked up at him, then suddenly hugged the pillar next to him like a madman, struggling while cursing hoarsely.

"I am a great general! My martial arts are unrivaled! You despicable villains, do you dare to fight me?"

The jailers had to work very hard to subdue him and dragged him away in a hurry.

"Blind man, come here quickly, this way, walk faster!"

"I'm being kind today and will improve your meals!"

Chen Kuang lowered his eyes and saw that the bowl that the jailer handed over no longer contained steamed buns, but a bowl of steaming rice porridge with vegetables and a smell of oil!

His heart sank suddenly.

This is the last meal before execution!

But this is definitely not right. According to the Zhou army's plan, a small-time person like him with no status should be used as a slave to make up for the loss of military personnel.

Unless someone suddenly decides his life or death.

Another quick glance showed that only a few people were holding rice with vegetables, while the others were still eating cold steamed buns.
