Chapter 287: Carving a Boat to Look for a Sword

Chapter 287: Carving a Boat to Look for a Sword

Jiang Xilin never directly told Shen Congyu where he was taking her.

The two of them finished their meal quietly. Jiang Xilin changed into the clothes that had been dried and went out with Chen Congyu.

He kept silent, which piqued Chen Congyu's curiosity.

She thought about it for a while, but couldn't think of where to go.

However, Jiang Xilin did not cover her eyes. As the car drove longer and longer, the road in front of them gradually became familiar.

When Shen Congyu reacted, his first thought was disbelief.

Then the next second he immediately turned around and asked Jiang Xilin: "Why did you bring me here?"

Lanshan Villa.

Ever since she learned that this place was bought by Jiang Xilin, Chen Congyu rarely came here. By then, she had let go of her worries and was no longer obsessed with spending so much effort to buy this house.

Now that Jiang Xilin suddenly brought her here, even if he hadn't told her where the destination was, she could guess it.

Jiang Xilin said, "You don't have to react too much. It's exactly what you think."

They both knew how many unpleasant situations had been involved in because of this house. But Jiang Xilin meant that things were different now.

He continued, "This house has always been in my name. You know I didn't buy it to use it myself. It's empty anyway, so I might as well return it to its original owner."

For a moment, Chen Congyu suspected that he had heard it wrong.

She was stunned for a few seconds, digesting his words.

"Why……"

Jiang Xilin smiled helplessly and said, "The reason is exactly what I just said."

Chen Congyu: "But why did you suddenly decide this?"

"It's not sudden, I just need an opportunity."

Chen Congyu recovered and said, "I don't have that much money to buy it yet."

Jiang Xilin was silent for two seconds, and seemed to be amused by her.

"Where did I say I was going to sell it to you?"

Chen Congyu didn't know how to answer.

Maybe she knew it in her heart, but it was not easy to say it directly.

Jiang Xilin didn't force her to say anything and stopped the car at the door of the villa.

It had been a long time since I last came here, and Chen Congyu only then discovered that the villa yard that had not been occupied for a long time was being maintained and taken care of by someone.

Nothing has changed, it's just neater and cleaner than before.

The lawn is still green and intact, and there are no yellow leaves on the dead branches and green plants. It is clearly not spring yet, but there is no sign that this place has just experienced a cold winter and no one cares about it.

Chen Congyu would not be so naive as to think that it was the masterpiece of the property management. After all, she had seen what the state was like when it was vacant for so many years.

She stared at Jiang Xilin in a daze. He didn't seem to think there was anything special and let her continue walking inside.

"I had someone do a quick clean inside the house a couple of days ago. It's definitely not as good as when people were living there. I wanted to keep it as original as possible, so I didn't have them do any major cleaning."

Jiang Xilin glanced at her sideways and said, "After all, what you want is the feeling of living there as a child."

Hearing these words, Shen Congyu's eyes suddenly became hot.

She said this when they were together a few years ago. She didn't expect that he still remembered it so clearly.

"You're like this..." Chen Congyu held back her tears, "I don't know how to react."

Jiang Xilin put his arm around her wrist, pulled her forward, and said, "I want to take this opportunity to please you, so you don't have to feel any psychological burden. Let's go in and take a look."

During the years when Shen Congyu was abroad, she would find someone to take care of the villa. Later, when she was not in Haicheng, Shen's father seemed to neglect the management. Although it was only a few years, it had not been lived in for more than ten years in total. No matter how good a house is, it will be affected if it is empty for a long time.

Walking in from the front door, Chen Congyu looked at the interior environment bit by bit. The decoration and the general arrangement of furniture had not changed. It still looked like the atmosphere of childhood, but there were traces of oldness that could no longer be changed.

It was at this moment that she realized that even her most treasured childhood memories would fade away with the passage of time.

She walked from downstairs to upstairs, and Jiang Xilin followed her silently all the time.

She walked to the room where she lived as a child and stood at the door without moving. Jiang Xilin also stopped and looked into the room following her gaze.

Chen Congyu asked, half crying, "Am I like carving a boat to find a sword? I know that so many years have passed, and no matter how much I try to protect it, I can't go back to the past."

Her emotions were broken at this moment, and she couldn't bear it anymore and shed tears.

Jiang Xilin reached out and took her into his arms.

"You're not wrong to think so. It's not like trying to find a sword by carving a mark on a boat. Who wouldn't want to preserve good memories if they had the ability? It shows that you're a nostalgic person."
