Chapter 10 Initial Assessment

Chapter 10 Initial Assessment

The starship's door opened, and Instructor Kion was standing outside the door, with the other instructors standing in two rows.

He glanced at most of the students in the starship who were still in a state of panic after experiencing the jump for the first time, and smiled disdainfully.

"This Stalker is all thanks to you. We have to send the household robots to clean it." He pointed at the vomit with disgust.

"Come out now, or are you still counting on it to take you home?" He snorted coldly, and with a gesture, the instructors entered the stalkers and drove the students out.

Xu Lingqu raised his leg and walked out. The stalker stopped at an open shallow grassy area with woods to the north and a river to the south.

The sky was blue with white clouds, the river was gurgling, and the woods were dense. They seemed to have come to a small, pristine planet. Xu Lingqu looked at the scenery in front of him in a trance.

This gave her the illusion that she was back on Earth before the end of the world, with birds singing in the shade of trees and the spring breeze blowing on her face. Nature could instantly calm people's hearts.

Xu Xizhen was still worried about whether Xu Lingqu would have any sequelae after fainting, so he stayed by her side the whole time.

After everyone got down, the instructors led them down the river. After walking for about twenty minutes, they stopped when they looked back and could no longer see the huge figure of the stalker.

This place was flatter and more spacious than upstream. After everyone stood still, Instructor Kaion jumped onto a large rock nearby and continued to look down at everyone.

"Congratulations on passing your first, relatively painless test: interstellar jump. I have to admit, the performance of some of you really opened my eyes."

Xu Lingqu felt the gaze on him, but he did not react to the obviously yin-yang words and remained calm.

"The registration direction is mecha manufacturing and maintenance. You can come out now. The instructor will take you to another place for your trial training." Instructor Kion waved his hand, and one of the instructors stood up and prepared to take the students away.

Those who study mecha manufacturing and maintenance are nominally mecha technicians. In a sense, an excellent mecha technician is much more valuable than a mecha soldier, but this is only limited to the definition of the adjective "excellent".

The entry threshold for a mecha master is different from that of a mecha soldier, who is measured directly by mental strength. Like the gangs in ancient times on Blue Star, they need to find a mecha master to "worship the mountain" and become his disciples before they can make their way out.

Entering school is actually the most insignificant part of their career. The most important thing for them is whether they can find their own "master" during this period.

Twenty students who had signed up to become mecha pilots stood up and followed the instructor into the depths of the woods. Xu Lingqu took a quick look and found that the girl who had just questioned whether she had high mental power on the starship was also among them.

Noticing Xu Lingqu's gaze, she turned around and looked at Xu Lingqu and nodded, probably as a thank you to Xu Lingqu for supporting her on the starship.

After this group of reserve mecha masters left, the crowd began to whisper and discuss again.

"It's better to be a mecha master. I should have applied for it earlier."

"They have entrance exams. Do you have the brains for that?"

"Mecha pilots are all fragile and need to be well protected. Who will care about us commanding the direction during the remaining devilish special training?"

"Who did our analyst offend again..."

Of the remaining people, most had signed up for combat duties. Each one was tall and muscular, a true fighter. The sixty or so individuals who stood out in the crowd were clearly command and analysis duties.

Command and analysis originally belonged to the same direction, but were later carefully separated. One focuses on strategy and decision-making, and the other is simple data analysis.

They are indispensable on the battlefield, but they are also the group with the weakest physical fitness.

Generally speaking, other military academies would also pull this type of people out for other training, but obviously, Moye Military Academy and Instructor Kaion didn't think so.

After seeing off the future mecha masters, Kion, standing on a high vantage point, looked at the remaining students and said loudly, "You should have been informed before you came here that there will be an elimination system during this trial period."

Deputy Instructor Chen then sent something to everyone's AI.

Everyone quickly clicked to check. It was a group list. Among the remaining 280 people, seven people formed a team, which seemed completely random.

Xu Lingqu opened the list and saw that among the seven people in her team, only one was in the combat direction. Among the other six, four were analysts and two were in command.

Kion looked at the students' visibly darkened faces and smiled comfortably. He then announced the contents of the first assessment of the trial period: "The first assessment of the trial period is a one-on-one duel between teams."

The teams were randomly divided. The number of students in the combat direction was almost three or four times that of the non-combat direction. I don’t know what kind of incredible luck it was that Xu Lingqu was randomly assigned to such a group.

Not to mention the combat directions of all the members of the opponent team she was matched with.

Xu Xizhen, who was standing next to her and watching, turned pale.

"How do we play this?" This was clearly a losing situation for Team Xu Lingqu. Xu Xizhen asked loudly, "Can we switch teams?"

Although before coming here, Xu Youwen had pulled her ears and told her not to meddle in other people's business during the trial period, especially not meddling in Xu Lingqu's business.

But Xu Xizhen couldn't help it.

Deputy Instructor Chen, who had stepped onto the boulder next, likely anticipated this reaction and quickly addressed everyone's concerns, saying with a smile, "You can't switch teams."

He and Instructor Kion exchanged a glance, then said, "The point selection system during this trial period is not only for the selection of the Mecha Department, but also affects your official admission quota."

"This time, our assessments will have a points system throughout. We'll clearly explain the rules to everyone during each assessment. At the end of the trial period, the top 20 will be ranked and enter the Mecha Department, while the bottom 80 will be eliminated," Deputy Instructor Chen explained. "This time, we'll have groups of seven competing against each other. The winning team will receive five points per member, while the losing team will receive no points and will have points deducted."

The unexpected arrival of Shen Shouli threw a wrench into the Moye Military Academy's recruitment process. Some wanted to test the waters, some sought to capitalize on the Shen family's influence, and some even came to disrupt the program. Ultimately, due to the involvement of various parties, the academy was forced to admit only 300 students. This trial period served as an emergency elimination system to address these complex circumstances.

Kion added, "Every point from now on will be crucial for you. Today is just the beginning."

After the explanation, the students began to disperse and regroup with their team members. Before leaving, Xu Xizhen patted Xu Lingqu's shoulder and said, "Let's try to team up together for the next assessment."

When Xu Lingqu's team gathered together, no one had a good look on their face. The only boy in the combat direction had a dark face, as if the whole world owed him money.

The other groups have been discussing the strategy of sending people. Group competition does not only depend on the hard power of the group, but also the order of sending people and the strategy of Tian Ji's horse racing are also very important.

Their team was in awkward silence. The only boy in the combat direction sneered and said, "What's the difference between our team and just me?"
