Chapter 29
Shen Shiqian's pheromones returned to normal on the third day, and he was allowed to be discharged from the hospital by Xisen. Feng Ran, on the other hand, jumped out of bed the day after her temporary side effects subsided. She originally didn't want to pay attention to Shen Shiqian and just left, but thinking of the affectionate words she had made to Xisen the day before, she patiently played the role of a good girl for half a day.
Regardless of whether Xisen believed it or not, the main purpose was to put on a show for Shen Shiqian. They needed to find a way to ease the tension between them, otherwise it would be a waste to squander Shen Shiqian's affection for her.
However, she still couldn't understand Shen Shiqian. His affection was full of restraint and forbearance. Without the catalysis of pheromones, he was as dull as a piece of wood. He simply and sincerely apologized for what happened the day before, and then kept asking Feng Ran about her sensitive period and the effects of the medication. This made Feng Ran feel more and more annoyed. She spent half a day with him at the hospital before turning her back on him and going home.
The intelligent mechanical laboratory at home has been installed. Feng Ran went in for a look and had a very strange feeling.
It seems she did indeed yearn for such a laboratory in her past life, but due to the empire's limited resources, custom-made special and sophisticated instruments and equipment often required both money and power. Even the combined resources of the various laboratories of the Basil family could hardly replicate the equipment of the Academy of Sciences. Therefore, when she was at the academy, Feng Ran had worked hard towards this goal and enthusiastically signed up for the academic innovation competition at the time.
Although the prize money from the competition wasn't enough to make her famous enough to enter the Imperial Academy of Sciences, it would allow her to earn all the competition credits she needed for her studies and qualify for a graduation exemption. She could use the time saved to do many other things, but that plan ended at the registration stage.
Because the competition is open to all ages and stages of society, anyone can sign up to participate. However, university students can only participate in the form of teamwork. At that time, Feng Ran's reputation in the college was not good, and she could even be said to be isolated. Her original intention was to finish the framework herself and then find two people to fill the quota. However, before she could get to that point, Professor Qiers' patent article was published first.
Feng Ran reflected on the reasons many times. In fact, the chain of evidence was very complete. The surveillance footage, after being restored by technology, clearly captured the professor entering the equipment room, casually glancing at the competition registration materials and the first draft of the article that she had placed next to the control panel, and then gradually becoming shocked, dazed, and excited. Finally, she used the terminal to scan and copy the manuscript materials.
But Feng Ran didn't expose him. She just silently threw the application form and the first draft into the energy furnace and burned them completely, even clogging the air filter. She was just a little disappointed. She comforted herself by thinking of it as a return gift for using the equipment room.
Even though she kept her mouth shut and pretended nothing had happened, she still faced criticism from Professor Ziers during class. He rejected every answer Feng Ran gave and instead used a more complex explanation, using his authority to portray Feng Ran as a negative example of someone who didn't study hard.
The blatant discrimination was interpreted by other students as tacit approval and support, leading to the escalation of the atrocities. By the time Qiers was actually promoted to the Academy of Sciences because of his paper which only contained theoretical models, Feng Ran was also disappointed with the Academy. He felt that they were all just like everyone else, birds of a feather.
The intelligent mechanical laboratory became less important, at least not after that. Fengran never considered assembling it again, and simply used the equipment and instruments that Luo Le gave her to create a bunch of mechanical life forms as substitutes.
Although Xing Tong had many grievances against Shen Shiqian, she couldn't find fault with the latest standardized intelligent mechanical laboratory. Soon, its image appeared on the central light screen of the control panel, excitedly mobilizing all the instruments to run. The auxiliary robotic arm independently used a laser engraving knife to carve a small star on the control panel, as if to declare its sovereignty.
"Master, when we leave, can we pry this entire laboratory off and take it with us?"
Feng Ran glanced at the star and a subtle realization dawned on him: regardless of whether the laboratory was a test of Shen Shiqian's greed, it was indeed a gift, a gift for Feng Ran.
Unlike the Academy of Sciences, which was tainted with ugliness, baseness, and pitch-black, this one was brand new, free, and pure white, possessing a slightly different and special significance.
"Can."

Shen Shiqian seemed to be frightened by the physical decline mentioned in Xisen's doctor's order. After being discharged from the hospital, he changed his daily routine again and again. Feng Ran was not interested in knowing the specifics of his work arrangements, but in any case, Shen Shiqian was always waiting for her at home when she came home from school.
Autumn is coming to an end, and the days are getting colder. Feng Ran has been living in Shen Shiqian's house for more than two months. The gender test was left unfinished because of Feng Ran's fertile period, so their relationship has returned to the mode where Feng Ran controls the distance. But Feng Ran is not sure if this is really the case, because Shen Shiqian's obedience shows no initiative and is even less affectionate than the robot butler.
The more he tried to maintain the stability of the relationship from an adult perspective, the more Feng Ran wanted to tear a crack in his face.
Feng Ran sat at the long table in the dining room, watching the busy figure appear and disappear through the archway in the kitchen. Dark and insane thoughts raced through his mind. How could he make this person feel utterly hopeless? Rather than pure mutual hatred, Feng Ran wanted to carve countless wounds on him, then smear those wounds with an incurable poison…
Training? Discipline? Feng Ran couldn't quite remember. Various vicious methods naturally surfaced from some corner of her memory at this moment. She seemed to have seen many "products" that had been tortured and trained before, including many aloof, proud, cold, and resolute individuals. She was called to observe the "processing," but she couldn't recall the details of what actually happened. Once a person who was originally extremely chaste began to feel immersed, obedience, fanaticism, and depravity would happen in an instant, and she could only feel pity and boredom watching from the side.
What would happen if Shen Shiqian went to such a place? Feng Ran found it hard to imagine that he would become like other pets, kneeling on the ground naked with his legs spread, gently rubbing against his owner's trouser leg. If that were the case, the entire empire would probably feel despair.
Maintaining a subtle sense of excitement, Feng Ran's eyes sparkled, and he smiled happily. When the robot finished serving the dishes and Chen Shiqian took off his apron and sat down, he took out a delicate little box and handed it to him.
Feng Ran: "Thank you for your hard work, sir. I have a small gift for you."
Shen Shiqian was somewhat surprised. He picked up the box and looked at Feng Ran: "Why would you suddenly want to give me a gift?"
Feng Ran skillfully placed food on his plate, smiling slightly: "Just a return gift."
Shen Shiqian opened the box, inside was a pair of delicate and small earrings, snow-white with a hint of light blue, shaped like geometrically folded, unnamed little flowers.
Feng Ran: "This is a snowflake shaped like a bullet knot. The moment I saw it, I thought it would suit you perfectly—beautiful and aloof, just like you." She blinked and continued, "Ah, if you don't like these kinds of accessories, you don't have to wear them out. I don't know if there are any regulations in the military against wearing accessories..."
Feng Ran and Shen Shiqian always interacted cautiously. Her personality had been worn down by the Feng family, making her too stubborn. She lacked the romance and innocence that a child her age should have. She was used to hiding in a safe corner by herself, and Shen Shiqian didn't know how to approach her without backfiring.
Receiving such a gift suddenly made him feel flattered. He carefully held the box in both hands, looking at Feng Ran with a mixture of gratitude and surprise: "There is no such rule. It's just that I don't have pierced ears. But thank you, Ranran. I really like this gift."
Feng Ran looked at him suspiciously, then tugged at the hem of her clothes and leaned forward slightly, seemingly a little embarrassed, and said, "I can help you with the injection, it won't hurt..."
Shen Shiqian didn't want to disappoint the cautious expectation in her eyes, and his heart melted completely: "Okay."
After a quick meal, Feng Ran looked at Shen Shiqian with great interest and said, "Then please come with me, sir."
Shen Shiqian followed Feng Ran to the laboratory at the end of the corridor. This was the first time he had entered the laboratory since it was completed, and it was slightly different from the original design of the robot.
In the center of the laboratory is the largest integrated mechanical control panel, which has three robotic arms. The optical computer display screen, which was originally concentrated in one place, has been broken down into several large and small three-dimensional rings and suspended above the control panel. The controller has also been embedded in the control panel. The empty space has been used to place new display cases and shelves. Small instruments and various tools and props are arranged meticulously. Although it is a closed room, the lighting is very bright.
Feng Ran: "Please wait a moment, I'll go prepare the tools."
The control panel is equipped with a 3D printer, and all the settings are connected to the controller. As long as you provide the drawings and instructions to the intelligent system, you can easily make any gadget you want.
Feng Ran quickly approached Shen Shiqian with a long needle and disinfectant alcohol, and looked around: "There's nowhere to sit, let's go outside to get it done."
The lab was originally designed with chairs, but because the central workbench was very high, Feng Ran preferred to stand and didn't use the chair much. Plus, a single chair looked out of place in the neat and compact lab, so Feng Ran, under some kind of Schrödinger's obsession, threw it out.
They went to the living room again. Shen Shiqian sat on the sofa, his whole body stiff, because his earlobes were being pinched and rubbed until they turned red, like red cherries on a cake.
It's both tingly and numbing.
Even though the fight hadn't started yet, he felt half of his body go numb.
Feng Ran gently approached him with a punch, her body emitting a faint, pleasant, sweet fragrance. Shen Shiqian's throat tightened and he felt a little thirsty. With a slight shift of his gaze, he could see the fine downy hairs on the girl's fair skin, her long, curled eyelashes, and the sharp curve of her profile, which was magnified infinitely, making her unbelievably beautiful.
Seemingly because hunching over was too tiring, Feng Ran moved even closer to Shen Shiqian, almost touching him in the chest, with his knees resting on the sofa, just a step away from sitting down on him.
Feng Ran noticed the gaze, turned her head and smiled slightly at him, her girlish aura wafting over him: "Sir, you only need to look at me."
With a click, like an electric current passing through the body in an instant, there was no sharp pain as expected, but the ears were still red and congested, because the heartbeat started to panic first.
The long needle that goes through has a spiral connector at one end, which can be connected to the earring needle to help put on the earring.
Feng Ran focused intently on manipulating the long needle, carefully putting on the earring. The earlobe in his hand was so red it was almost bleeding, making her teeth itch slightly, as if she wanted to bite it off for him.
"Alright, time to switch to the other side."
Feng Ran stood up and moved away slightly, but because she was leaning and not standing steadily for a moment, she leaned against the sofa and fell into Shen Shiqian's arms, her forehead hitting his chin and turning red.
She slowly raised her head, her eyes wet, her expression seemingly resentful. Like a cat, she bared her teeth and claws at Shen Shiqian, muttering under her breath, "Liar."
Shen Shiqian's breath hitched for a moment, then he heard her continue to complain, "You don't like me at all."
Because they were so close, no emotion in Feng Ran's clear and innocent eyes could escape Shen Shiqian's gaze. She was shy, awkward, yet affectionate. She glared at Shen Shiqian angrily and then turned her head slightly away. She straightened her back and tried to leave, but Shen Shiqian pressed her down, and she fell heavily into his arms, getting even closer.
Shen Shiqian's voice was deep and hoarse, his breath hot with heat: "Ranran, why did you say that?"
Feng Ran was held tightly in his arms, letting out soft moans. Not only was her forehead red, but her eyes and cheeks were also quite red. She only glanced at Shen Shiqian before surrendering and becoming obedient, leaning gently against him and enjoying the intimacy.
She gave an irrelevant answer, muttering to herself, "My heart is beating so fast, it's so scary." Her composure turned into inexplicable panic. She glanced at Shen Shiqian and then quickly turned her face away, her voice barely audible: "I...I like you."
When she hesitantly looked up to observe Shen Shiqian's reaction, the man's cold rationality vanished completely. He kissed her fiercely, prying open her defenseless lips and teeth, and kissed her passionately. The force of his hold became stronger and stronger, as if he wanted to leave several handprints on Feng Ran's waist.
Feng Ran had no choice but to accept it all. She kissed him shyly and obediently while holding the piercing needle and injecting another needle into the correct position. Even though she was not used to doing this kind of thing, the pleasure in her heart was genuine.
That was easy to handle.
