Chapter 22 Virus?

The crazy deer are, after all, flesh and blood.

There was no room for struggle in the fierce fire of metal bullets.

After firing more than three hundred bullets, all the deer in front of him fell down, and not a single one was left with an intact body.

Chen Ming immediately stopped the pouring fire and accurately found a few deer that were still breathing their last breath among the fallen deer.

Then the machine gun opened fire again, sending the deer to where they should go.

Chen Ming checked carefully again and confirmed that there was no living thing in his sight.

Then he repaired the machine gun, refilled it with bullets, sorted out his equipment, and got off the spaceship with his pistol.

Chen Ming approached the herd of deer cautiously. Looking at the mess, a gloom suddenly appeared on his face again.

Because in Chen Ming's eyes, the corpses of these deer had already begun to rot.

The animal that was still moving just now rotted in the blink of an eye.

Even if the meat is placed in a very humid or hot place, it shouldn't rot so quickly.

Chen Ming frowned, turned on the terminal, took a picture of a relatively intact body on the ground, and began searching.

The terminal quickly gave an answer.

"Purple-tailed deer, herbivorous animals, timid and easily frightened..."

Sure enough, just like the group of empty jellyfish that Chen Ming encountered before, their personalities had almost reversed 180 degrees.

Chen Ming totally couldn't understand what was happening to these deer and those empty jellyfish.

Chen Ming's mind suddenly flashed back to the scene where he saw the first deer show its head.

At that time, the deer's eyes were very dull and saliva was constantly flowing from the corners of its mouth. It was obvious that something was very wrong at first glance.

And now, Chen Ming's eyes were fixed on the corpse of a deer whose head was blown off by a machine gun.

Its body was fairly decayed, but its brain had basically turned into a rotten paste.

It's like its decay starts in the brain.

Such behavior... Could it be that some kind of brain-infecting disease caused them to go crazy and caused them to decay and deteriorate quickly after death? The more Chen Ming thought about it, the more he felt that this was possible.

So, relying on the protective clothing he was wearing, he immediately picked out two relatively intact and less decayed bodies and dragged them to the river bank on the west side of the spacecraft.

Then he took out a knife and stabbed it directly into the abdomen of the purple-tailed deer, making a strong cut.

The next moment, a large pool of even more rotten organs leaked out from the cut.

Chen Ming took a look, suppressed his nausea, and then moved the knife towards the deer's head.

The deer's skull was quickly pried open with the help of Chen Ming's pistol.

Sure enough, just as Chen Ming had just seen, the deer, whose exterior was not very rotten, had its brain rotten into a paste.

Chen Ming took a few looks and continued to set his sights on another deer.

The result was just as Chen Ming expected. The brain of the other deer had completely rotted.

This situation forced Chen Ming to think about rabies.

What Chen Ming is facing now is probably not a disease unique to the planet that is transmitted among animals, and the possibility of human infection cannot be ruled out.

Chen Ming's expression suddenly changed when he thought of this, and he looked at his left wrist with a stern face.

There are still only those three lines of words on it.

Livable air environment.

No lethal gases.

No pathogenic microorganisms.

But Chen Ming didn't dare to eat these deer. He didn't even dare to squeeze juice from them like the corpses of insects. He had to find a way to dispose of them.

Otherwise, if these rotting corpses are left here for a few days, it will be a problem whether we can still stay near the spacecraft.

Chen Ming really couldn't think of a better way to deal with the carcasses of these deer.

If you want to dig a pit deep enough to bury all the bodies yourself, you will not only need the right tools, but it will probably take you several days.

But Chen Ming doesn't have that much time to do this now.

After thinking about it, Chen Ming simply dragged the deer's body along the river to the place where he had found the orange fruit before and dumped the body there.

It's better to leave it here than to rot next to the spaceship.

For the rest of the day, Chen Ming can only travel back and forth between the spacecraft and here.

Even without digging a grave, it still took Chen Ming a long time to deal with the body.

It was not until noon that Chen Ming finally threw the last deer carcass into the woods.

Today's plans have been completely disrupted, and it is definitely too late to track the animal's footprints.

It would be better to go back and reinforce the fence, make some traps, and ensure that your base will not be destroyed by those animals that come to steal food at night.

Chen Ming sighed.

He clapped his hands to wipe off the dried and dirty blood on his protective suit.

He returned to the spaceship, picked up the bucket he used to water the fields, and returned to the river again.

He cleaned himself and his bloody knife.

Chen Ming was very careful not to let all the sewage flow directly into the river.

But Chen Ming knew that doing so was only temporary, and the blood that had seeped into the soil would sooner or later seep into the river water again.

We can only hope that the filtering effect of the soil can filter out the dirt in the blood.

After washing the protective suit, Chen Ming returned to the spacecraft.

He took out a kind of disinfectant herb that he had collected earlier and sprayed himself, his protective clothing and his insides with the juice of the herb.

After finishing this last task of cleaning up the butts of those crazy deer, Chen Ming finally couldn't stand the high-intensity physical activity and lay directly on the bed.

He reached for the terminal and recorded what had just happened in the log.

I learned this from my doctor. Maybe someday I’ll forget something and be able to remember it from the logs on the terminal.

After lunch and a rest, Chen Ming spent the afternoon reinforcing fences and making traps.

At night, Chen Ming could notice that the number of animals spying on his spaceship was significantly reduced.

They must have been scared away by the smell of blood and the gunshots during the day.

Most of the animals that were still observing Chen Ming did not show any aggression, and would even be scared away at the slightest disturbance.

It looks very normal and is the best source of meat for Chen Ming to obtain through hunting.

But Chen Ming was very clear about one thing in his heart at this moment.

Although these animals look normal, who can guarantee that they are not infected with the virus and that the virus has no incubation period?

Unless Chen Ming could successfully hunt them and see with his own eyes that their bodies remained intact after death.

Otherwise there is no way to confirm this issue.
