Su Wan peeked out from behind the sedan chair and saw that the two assassins were already dead. While relieved, her heart was pounding wildly.
This was the first time she had ever seen two living people dead in front of her. Luckily, she often spent the night with corpses to toughen herself up during her school days, otherwise she would have been terrified by these dead bodies.
The remaining assassins were terrified when they saw two of their companions die in the blink of an eye. But they had received a deposit from their employer, and if they ran away like this, they would be unable to complete their mission. They had no choice but to bite the bullet and fight desperately.
After a few more exchanges, Su Wan noticed that Wei Jingzhuo's movements were starting to slow down.
Out of professional sensitivity as a medical graduate student, she pays extra attention to the patients' actions.
With each step Wei Jingzhuo took, his face paled further. Fine beads of sweat dotted his forehead, his thin lips were tightly pressed together, and the veins on his sword gripped his hand were bulging, as if he were enduring immense pain.
Su Wan frowned slightly.
This sickly man was clearly about to collapse. After killing two assassins, his strength was almost gone, and his swordplay slowed down significantly. The three assassins gradually gained the upper hand.
We need to take care of these three assassins before Wei Jingzhuo collapses.
She then took a bottle of sulfuric acid from the pharmacy and, seizing the opportunity, splashed it on the back of one of the assassins' heads.
Seeing that his two companions had been burned by the strange liquid, the assassin was already on guard, his eyes constantly glancing at Su Wan. When Su Wan came out to throw the sulfuric acid, he immediately leaped aside, completely avoiding it.
Su Wan was filled with regret and was about to go to the pharmacy to get more when she discovered that the sulfuric acid was gone.
Although the assassin dodged the sulfuric acid, he was enraged when he thought about how his companions had been killed by this girl who was hard to distinguish from ghosts, and how he himself had almost ingested a bottle of it. He disregarded his other companions and chased after Su Wan with his knife.
"Dare to ambush me from behind, I'll kill you."
Su Wan was startled and quickly ran towards the bridal sedan chair.
With only the bridal sedan chair available for cover in the open space, she disregarded all decorum and swiftly circled around it, lifting her skirt. The assassin followed closely behind.
The two men circled back and forth across the bridal sedan chair like an eagle catching a chick, first clockwise, then counterclockwise...
After circling around three times, the assassin suddenly froze in place, as if struck by a pressure point, and stopped chasing her.
Panting, Su Wan leaned on her knees and looked to the other side of the bridal sedan chair, glancing at the assassin with a puzzled expression.
What's wrong? Could it be that this person has suddenly had a change of heart and is no longer planning to pursue her?
The assassin's eyes went blank, he made two gurgling sounds, and then he fell straight down towards her, revealing the man standing proudly behind him with a sword in hand.
Like a sudden glimmer of light in the twilight, an extremely handsome man's face unexpectedly entered her heart.
His figure was tall and slender, exuding an innate air of aloofness and nobility. His long, jet-black hair was half-tied up with a feathered crown, and his cold, deep eyes, like unyielding snow, were fixed on her face.
His demeanor was elegant and refined, serene and divine.
It was a slender figure, but his naturally beautiful bone structure was undeniable.
The groom's red robe hung loosely on his body, which not only did not detract from his charm, but also highlighted his fair and clear skin, like the finest mutton fat jade.
The assassin who was chasing her was dead, but Su Wan felt her heart pounding even harder.
The two locked eyes for only a moment before hurried footsteps sounded in the distance.
The last two assassins, both wounded, were supporting each other as they stumbled and tried to escape into the distant woods.
Wei Jingzhuo turned around, brandished his longsword, and said coldly, "What are you busy with? Since you two are here, why don't you stay and join the wedding banquet?"
“That’s right,” Su Wan chimed in with a smile, “Since you’ve come to the wedding banquet, how can you not bring a gift? Leave your gift before you go.”
