Luna thought about it and realized that it made sense. It was quite a long way to the surgical tent, and there would be plenty of opportunities to strike up a conversation with Su Wan then.
He and his other assistants came out of the tent, and after taking only a few steps, Su Wan also came out of the tent.
She made a point of wearing a white coat and a face mask.
When Luna and the others turned around and saw it, they were startled. Not only them, but even the maids and guards were astonished.
Isn't this the mourning clothes worn when someone dies?
Su Wan noticed that everyone was staring at her with strange looks, and knew it was because of her clothes. She smiled and said, "You don't understand. To perform surgery on the King, you have to wear these kinds of clothes."
Everyone pretended to understand and nodded to indicate that they got it.
Luna, holding the tray in both hands, slowed her pace, waiting for Su Wan to approach, when a voice suddenly came from not far away.
"The king has ordered us to escort the goddess to the operating tent."
As the words were spoken, a group of about ten fully armored Western Rong soldiers, led by two men, walked over carrying torches.
When Luna saw the face of the leading soldier, she suddenly froze, as if she had been frozen in place.
Su Wan was somewhat surprised and laughed, "It's not a long journey, why do you need an escort?"
The leading soldier said, "His Majesty said that tonight's surgery is extremely important and must be carried out without any mistakes. He is afraid that someone might offend the goddess, so he specifically sent us to escort her."
Su Wan thought the Western Rong King's considerations were quite thorough. She had dealt with Lu Bang quite a bit before, so the Western Rong King probably sent the guards because he was afraid Lu Bang would cause trouble.
"Where is the king?" she asked.
The two soldiers led the way for her, one of them saying, "His Majesty is already waiting for the goddess inside the operating tent. He specially sent us to escort the goddess to the operating tent."
“Okay, let’s hurry up then,” Su Wan turned to look at Luna, “Luna, what are you standing there for? Let’s go.”
Luna seemed to wake from a dream, exclaimed "Ah!", and followed the group with the tray in her arms.
As Su Wan walked, she asked, "Luna, you said you wanted to talk to me about something?"
Luna glanced at the soldier who was standing close by. The soldier was watching him out of the corner of his eye, his gaze cold and filled with murderous intent.
He swallowed hard and shook his head, saying, "It's okay... I'm fine now."
He had just recognized the two men leading the group of soldiers as the same two who had carried the Western Rong King to the operating tent.
They were Lupin's confidants. It was they who replaced the king's guards, allowing Lupin to assassinate the king.
He would only dare to tell Su Wan what happened in front of these people if he didn't want to live anymore.
Seeing that he was alright, Su Wan smiled and nodded at him: "Okay, let's hurry up and go. His Majesty is waiting for the surgery."
