Chapter 104 How could I have forgotten about this?

Luna ran all the way to Su Wan's tent, panting heavily from exhaustion.

He ran here in the same way just now, to warn Su Wan not to fall into a trap. Now he's here for the commander of ten thousand men he dreams of.

A maid was waiting outside the tent. When she saw him arrive, she quickly waved and said, "Why are you so late? Come in quickly, the master is angry."

Luna agreed and lifted the curtain to enter the tent.

He assumed Su Wan would be busy inside the tent, preparing surgical supplies or something. Unexpectedly, Su Wan was leaning against the door of the inner tent with her arms crossed, seemingly waiting for him.

Confused, he could only scratch his head and chuckle awkwardly, "Goddess, I was just cleaning up the things that fell on the ground and didn't notice you came back."

Su Wan did not answer, but turned around and said, "Come with me."

Seeing that Su Wan wasn't in a hurry about the surgery, as if she had something to say to him, Luna, thinking of the easily attainable position of commander of ten thousand, urged, "Goddess, the King is already waiting in the operating tent. Shall we hurry over?"

Su Wan ignored him and went into the sleeping quarters first. Luna had no choice but to follow behind.

He entered the tent, puzzled. Before he could even ask anything, Su Wan cut to the chase: "You deliberately dropped the surgical instruments just now, didn't you?"

Luna then realized how poorly she had acted when she fell. Not only her brother noticed, but even Su Wan realized something was wrong.

Su Wan looked directly at him and asked, "Tell me, what is your intention?"

"Ah, this..." He hadn't expected Su Wan to start like this, and for a moment his mind went blank, unsure how to respond.

If he tells Su Wan that he did it to save her, Su Wan will continue to ask why, and his brother's conspiracy will be exposed.

While he was still hesitating, Su Wan sat down at the table and said, "When I was performing the pre-operative examination for the King, I mentioned you to him. The King said that you brought him medicine and relieved his pain. Now you are assisting me in performing the surgery. The King is very satisfied with your performance and plans to promote you to centurion after the surgery."

Luna opened her mouth, and this time she was truly dumbfounded.

He conspired with his brother to kill the king and Su Wan. His brother promised to make him a commander of ten thousand, but this position was obtained through despicable means, and he would have to live in constant fear with his brother. However, by helping Su Wan heal the king, he would not have to suffer the pangs of conscience and could become a centurion with dignity.

However, one thing cannot be ignored: the king is already dead.

Thinking of this, he couldn't help but say, "But the king is already dead."

Su Wan raised her eyebrows and suddenly stood up: "What did you say?"

Luna almost wanted to slap himself. Honestly, why did he blurt out his thoughts so bluntly? He tried to argue, saying, "I meant that if the King isn't treated, he will die."

“No, that’s not what you said,” Su Wan walked up to him. “What you just said was, ‘The King is dead.’”

Seeing that his attempt to cover it up was futile, Luna felt guilty and dared not look at Su Wan, turning his face away.

"Brother Lu, tell me the truth," Su Wan asked in a serious voice, "what exactly is wrong with the King?"

Seeing that there was no way to escape, Luna had no choice but to crouch down with her hands covering her head and whisper, "The king is dead... he was killed."

Su Wan also squatted down and said, "Don't panic. Brother Lu, tell me what happened."

Luna looked up and met Su Wan's clear gaze. It was a gaze completely different from Lupin's. Suddenly, he couldn't bear to deceive the person in front of him any longer, so he told Su Wan everything that had happened since he went to the royal tent to invite the king.

“Brother Lupin, what are you thinking?” Su Wan shook his shoulders vigorously with both hands. “You are the only one who knows that Lupin assassinated the king. How could he possibly let you live?”

"But... I'm his younger brother."

Seeing that he was still stubborn, Su Wan simply raised her hand and slapped him across the face.

"Stop being foolish. Lupin will never let you live. Think about it. If you were in that situation, would you keep the only person who knows the truth? Aren't you afraid that person will one day tell?"

Perhaps the slap worked, because Luna suddenly realized what was happening and stammered, covering her face, "I...I didn't think of that."

Then, thinking about what was about to happen, he said to Su Wan in a panic, "What should we do now? My older brother is waiting over there."

Su Wan pulled him to his feet: "Don't panic, where is my husband?"

“Ah…you mean the young master,” Luna said hurriedly, “I don’t know where he is. He disappeared at noon today, and I thought he came here.”

In the midst of the chaos, a maid lifted the curtain and entered, saying, "Master, Commander Lupin is waiting outside the tent."

Luna, who had just stood up, collapsed again upon hearing the news.

Su Wan remained calm and stood up, saying to the maid, "Go tell the commander that Luna has dropped the surgical equipment again and sprained her ankle. Look... she can't even stand up now."

When the maid saw Luna sprawled on the ground, she realized he really looked like he had twisted his ankle and couldn't stand up. She said, "Alright, I'll go and tell the commander not to rush him."

After the maids left, Su Wan grabbed Luna's shoulders and pulled him up with all her might: "Brother Luna, stand up quickly... We have to run fast, or it will be too late."

Luna managed to stand up with great difficulty, her face ashen, and said, "My older brother is already blocking the door, how can I run?"

Su Wan looked around: "Are there any knives?"

"Would a meat cleaver work?"

"Okay, okay, quickly cut open the tent and crawl out from here."
