Chapter 105 The murderer is me

"Hurry, hurry up!"

Su Wan hugged the horse's neck, nervously looking back at the Western Rong army camp behind her, its lights twinkling like stars, and kept urging Luna on.

"Stop rushing me, do you think I don't know I need to hurry!"

Luna held the reins in one hand and the whip in the other, whipping the horse's rump with all his might, causing the steed to neigh incessantly.

The two men cut a hole in the tent, escaped, grabbed a horse, and fled towards the camp. They rushed to the gate but were stopped by the guards. Luna then produced the king's token, which he hadn't yet returned, and only then was he able to escape successfully.

However, the consequence of rushing out was that I forgot to bring a torch, and it was pitch black outside, so I couldn't even see the road.

Relying on his memory, Luna ran along the main road for a while, and the road gradually brightened. He looked up at the sky and found that the moon had somehow moved out from behind the thick clouds, casting a silvery glow on the ground. He was overjoyed and exclaimed, "Great! The moon is out, we can see the road now!"

"Good my ass," Su Wan pointed behind her, "Someone's catching up, run!"

Luna turned around and saw a rider speeding towards him, raising clouds of dust in the moonlight. Further behind, there seemed to be more cavalrymen following, which terrified him so much that his hair stood on end, and he whipped his back several times.

Although they couldn't see the road clearly in the darkness, their pursuers also couldn't spot them. Now, with the moonlight illuminating the earth, the road is clear, and their pursuers can see them.

Two people riding together can't outrun a single rider. The pursuer is getting closer and closer, and soon they're only an arrow's width apart.

Luna turned around and recognized his pursuer as his elder brother, Lupin. Terrified, he cried out incoherently, "Brother, spare my life! I don't want to be a commander anymore, not even a centurion. I'll pay you back what I owe you. I'll take care of Mother; you don't need to pay a penny..."

Su Wan was so nervous she could hardly breathe, and when she heard him rambling on, even though she knew he was terrified, she almost laughed.

Unexpectedly, when Luna is panicked, she also shouts incoherently.

Before the smile on his lips had faded, his warhorse suddenly let out a mournful neigh and collapsed to the ground. The two men were thrown back by the momentum and crashed to the ground.

Luna was dizzy from the fall and managed to get up with great difficulty. She knelt down in front of Su Wan and asked, "Little brother Su, are you alright?"

Su Wan sat up, supporting her lower back, and frowned, saying, "It's nothing, it's just that my lower back was poked, it hurts so much."

The two were thrown a long way and landed right in the thick grass. Although they were a bit disheveled, neither of them was seriously injured.

Seeing that Su Wan was alright, Luna quickly got up and went to the warhorse. By the moonlight, he saw an arrow stuck in the horse's rump. The warhorse pawed at the ground and neighed incessantly, but it could not stand up.

Su Wan also stood up and came to him, asking, "What's wrong with this horse?"

Luna's face turned ashen, and he pointed to the feathered arrow on the horse's rump. Su Wan was dumbfounded as well.

Without horses, there was no way to escape.

The two were standing there in a daze when Lupin rode up to them.

Seeing the two men standing there looking like they were waiting to die, he leisurely hung the bow in his hand on the saddle, jumped off the horse with one leg to the side, put his hand on the hilt of the sword at his waist, and proudly led the horse over.

"Brother, why did you and the goddess suddenly run away? Aren't you going to perform surgery on the king?"

Luna wanted to run, but seeing Su Wan beside him, he knew there was no way to escape. Gritting his teeth, he stood in front of Su Wan and said to Lupin, "Big brother, don't make any more mistakes. It's not too late to turn back now."

Lupin laughed and said, "What's wrong with that? I just came to tell the goddess to go back and perform surgery on the king."

As he spoke, Lupin took a step toward the two of them.

Luna and Su Wan took a step back almost simultaneously. Luna pulled out a small knife used for cutting meat and stammered, "B-Big Brother, are you going to kill us to silence us?"

Lupin laughed and shook his head, saying, "Brother, what are you saying? If I wanted to kill you, why would I shoot your horse? Don't forget, I'm a master archer."

He glanced at the knife in Luna's hand: "Little brother, put the knife down. I'm just here to take you two back. If you come with me obediently, I might be a little more polite."

He wasn't afraid of Luna at all. Luna, who only knew how to trade, didn't know how to fight and was as harmless as a baby in front of him. Su Wan was the same.

The sound of hooves echoed behind the three men, and dozens of cavalrymen arrived under the moonlight.

Lupin was even more smug and said to Luna, "My trusted aide has arrived. I'll give you two horses later. Come back with me obediently, or don't blame your older brother for being ruthless."

Su Wan was initially terrified when she saw another group of people arrive, but when she saw the leader gesturing to her, her eyes lit up and she almost shouted out loud.

Luna couldn't see Su Wan's expression behind him. Originally intending to fight to the death, seeing that Lupin had dozens more helpers arrive, he threw the knife on the ground in despair and said, "Big brother, I'll go back with you."

Before he could even lift his foot, Su Wan called out from behind, "Wait."

Luna and Lupin both looked at Su Wan in surprise. Lupin asked, "What do you want to say?"

Su Wan laughed and said, "Lupin, what do you want me to go back for? The king has already been killed by you."

Lupin was taken aback at first, as if he hadn't expected Su Wan to be so direct, then he laughed and said, "It seems my brother has already told you. Then I don't need to hide anything anymore. That's right, I killed the king. You two are my scapegoats..."

Before he could finish speaking, a man's trembling voice, filled with anger, rang out from behind him.
