A hint of surprise flashed in Emperor Kangping's cloudy eyes, and he sat up straight from his chair.
He scoffed, "Is that so? Why didn't you mention this to me before? Do you perhaps enjoy keeping secrets from me?"
Yang Yaozu was so frightened that he knelt on the ground with a thud, his voice trembling: "Your Majesty, spare me! How dare this servant conceal the truth from Your Majesty? This servant only learned today that the Jade-Faced General is the deposed Crown Prince."
Emperor Kangping waved his hand and said, "Get up and speak."
Yang Yaozu stood up and said, "Today, I heard people outside talking about General Jade Face, and I also heard that General Jade Face's wife was granted a fief by the King of Xirong. After inquiring, I learned that General Jade Face's wife is my cousin."
Emperor Kangping's expression was unreadable as he lowered his eyelids and asked, "How skilled is your cousin at medicine?"
Yang Yaozu didn't know what Emperor Kangping meant, but he knew that Su Wan had no medical skills at all, and now he just wanted Su Wan dead.
"Your Majesty, my cousin's medical skills are superb. She can even cure the King of Xirong's heart disease. I have also heard that she is revered as a goddess."
As for whether Su Wan was a goddess, he didn't know; he only knew that Bai Zhiyi had told him to say that to the emperor.
Emperor Kangping appeared to have no physical problems, but only the eunuchs and palace maids who served him knew that every night the emperor coughed up blood, requiring several handkerchiefs to be used.
If Su Wan had the title of goddess, Emperor Kangping would surely have summoned her to the capital. Then he could rightfully exact his revenge.
Sure enough, when Emperor Kangping heard the words "goddess," a glint of light suddenly appeared in his cloudy eyes.
"So your cousin is the goddess."
"Your Majesty, Su Wan's medical skills are indeed extremely high. I heard that the King of Xirong had suffered from heart disease for many years, and Su Wan cured him after a trip to Xirong," Yang Yaozu raised his voice, "presumably she can cure any difficult disease in the world."
Emperor Kangping stared intently at him. The man lowered his head, not daring to utter a sound, quietly waiting for Emperor Kangping to speak.
After a long pause, Emperor Kangping suddenly laughed and said, "Little Yangzi, I want you to summon your cousin to the palace. Are you willing to go?"
Yang Yaozu was overjoyed and raised his head, saying, "This servant is willing, willing!"
