Su Wan first went to the notice in Baohe Hall, reached out and tore it down, then threw it into the sewage pit next to her.
People who were about to enter the pharmacy saw her actions and knew that she was a typical troublemaker, so they quickly left and watched from a distance.
"Who is this young man, daring to provoke Baohetang? He's really courting death!"
"Yeah, look at those skinny arms and legs, any random guy could just throw him out."
"Baohetang has always been arrogant and domineering. I never thought someone would dare to smash its signboard."
Su Wan heard the whispers around her but didn't care. She took out a fan, unfolded it, and fanned herself, swaggering into Baohe Hall like a noble young master.
The air inside Baohetang was thick with the smell of medicine. Four people, all dressed in smart servants and clearly from wealthy families, waited in front of the long, black, lacquered counter. Some held prescriptions, heads bowed, while others waited with their sleeves rolled up for the clerk to fetch the medicine. Some huddled together chatting idly. No one seemed to be in a hurry to get their medicine.
There were three shop assistants behind the counter. Only one was taking medicine out of the drawer, weighing it, and packaging it, while the other two were chatting and drinking tea around a table. The other shop assistants who had gone out to chase Zheng Lun were nowhere to be seen; they must be in the back room.
Seeing that no one was paying attention to her actions outside, Su Wan pulled over a stool, stepped on it, and tapped the counter with her fan.
"Someone come here, young master, I need to buy medicine."
One of the waiters sitting at the table looked up at him and said unhurriedly, "Young master, please wait a moment."
“I need to buy medicine urgently,” Su Wan said, taking out a ten-tael silver coin from her pocket and slapping it on the table. “Whoever packs the medicine for me first gets to keep the money.”
The three men, who had initially ignored her, immediately dropped what they were doing and crowded around her as soon as they heard the sound of silver coins jingling, pushing and shoving each other into a small group.
"Young master, I'm quick, let me get it for you..."
"Young master, don't listen to him! He never washes his hands after using the outhouse!"
"Young master, you..."
Su Wan's commotion immediately annoyed the four people waiting outside the counter. One of them said to the shop assistant, "Don't get involved. Go and pack medicine for my third young master."
Another customer added, "That's right, our medicine hasn't been packaged yet."
Su Wan glared at them and said, "You all step back. This pharmacy is only for my use today."
She wanted to make a scene, but didn't want to involve anyone unrelated. Her first priority was to get rid of these people.
These customers were all servants who served their master, and they could all tell that Su Wan had come to deliberately cause trouble. Seeing Su Wan's frail appearance yet her arrogance, there were only two possibilities: either this young master was suffering from hysteria, or the power behind him was not something ordinary people could afford to offend.
The four of them looked into Su Wan's clear, bright eyes and immediately knew that only the latter possibility existed. They obediently slipped out the door and stood in the crowd watching from a distance.
The three shop assistants behind the counter also sensed something was wrong. One of them smiled and said, "Young master...you...you want to buy medicine?"
Seeing that all the customers had left, Su Wan said, "That's right, I want to buy medicine. My wife has been acting like a wolf lately, with insatiable desires. I need some calming medicine, something to help her calm down after taking it."
She recalled the scene of Wei Jingzhuo tormenting her that night, and actually felt it was necessary to buy some medicine for this insatiable guy, so that he wouldn't always look at her with such a lecherous gaze.
One of the waiters looked at her slender figure and laughed, "Young master, have you ordered the wrong medicine? You're the one who should be taking it."
Seeing Su Wan's expression change, another clerk nudged the one who had spoken with his elbow: "If you can't speak properly, go stand aside. Young master, if you need medicine to calm your mind, we have plenty in our pharmacy. Shouldn't we find a doctor to prescribe it for you first?"
“No need,” Su Wan raised her hand and pointed to the medicine box behind the waiter. “The doctor has already prescribed it. Give me ten catties of each of the calming and soothing medicines.”
"Ten catties of each?" The three shop assistants were startled. "This is medicine meant for immortals!"
Su Wan tossed the silver in her hand into the air: "I need to treat my wife's illness, so the dosage naturally needs to be sufficient. Will you sell it or not?"
"Sell, sell!" the three men agreed in unison, and each took a spatula to fetch the medicine.
This is what happens when greed blinds you; your IQ drops to zero the moment you see money.
Su Wan smiled, sat down, picked up a pot of tea from the counter, poured herself a drink, and waited, saying, "The doctor said it's one packet for every two ounces."
"Well, you just wait."
The pharmacy had more than a dozen kinds of medicinal herbs, each weighing ten pounds, and each herb required fifty packets. The three shop assistants were dizzy from shoveling, their hands were sore, and their backs were almost too sore to straighten up. After an hour and a half, they finally finished packing.
A waiter came over, hunching over and rubbing his back, saying, "Young master, we're done wrapping."
After he finished speaking, he turned around and gestured to Su Wan to the mountain of medicine packets in the counter. There was no room for the other two to stand, so they could only squat on the chairs.
“Wait a minute,” Su Wan said, raising her fan. “I just remembered that the doctor said my wife doesn’t have this disease.”
"Huh?" the three men exclaimed in unison, "You mean it's not this disease?"
“Yes, yes,” Su Wan tapped her head with her fan, “I have a bad memory. The doctor said I should actually buy some blood-tonifying and body-strengthening medicine.”
One of the shop assistants said, "Young master, the medicine you just asked for to calm your mind is all cooling. But the medicine to replenish blood and strengthen the body is all warming. All these medicines are a waste."
"Really?" Su Wan took out another piece of silver from her bosom, weighing a full ten taels. "Young master, may I add another ten taels?"
