Chapter 153 They are hoping to be granted a title.

"Faster, faster!"

Bai Zhiyi gripped the handrail inside the carriage tightly and called out to the coachman outside.

The driver shouted from outside, "Miss Bai, we can't go any faster. If we go any faster, the carriage will fall apart."

The carriage sped along the snow-covered road, the horses snorting heavily, their hooves flying. Every now and then, the wheels would roll over ditches and bumps, sending the master and servant flying high into the air. The two passengers would be thrown from their seats, their heads sometimes even hitting the roof.

Bai Zhiyi didn't care, but the maid couldn't stand it. She covered her head and said, "Miss, can you please slow down the carriage? I've bumped my head."

Bai Zhiyi said, "Hold on tight to the handrail."

“Miss, look how excited you are,” the maid said helplessly, grabbing the armrest. “Do you really think you can persuade your aunt just by going back to the Lin residence? It’s not like she hasn’t said it before.”

Just as Bai Zhiyi was about to answer, the carriage jolted violently again, and the two of them were thrown forward together. Fortunately, they managed to brace themselves with their hands on the carriage so that their heads wouldn't hit their heads.

The two sat back down, and Bai Zhiyi said, "Back then, my aunt didn't know His Highness's intentions, so naturally she was willing to fight to the death. Now His Highness has said that as long as my aunt and uncle go to the Northwest Camp to apologize before noon, he will spare their lives."

The maid said, "His Highness may be lying to you, trying to coax you to leave."

Bai Zhiyi said, "His Highness is a man of his word; he would not lie to me."

“Miss, I don’t mean to discourage you,” the maid said. “I just mean, there’s always a chance something might happen. Maybe he’s just lying to you this time.”

"Absolutely not."

"Perhaps your aunt isn't home..."

"You jinx," Bai Zhiyi interrupted the maid impatiently, "Don't say that anymore."

The carriage sped along at breakneck speed until it arrived at the gate of the Lin residence. The two horses pulling the carriage were so fast that they were steaming and could barely stand.

Without waiting for the maid to open the door, Bai Zhiyi opened it herself, jumped down, and rushed up the steps. She asked the servants who were sweeping snow in front of the door, "Are Uncle and Aunt awake?"

The servant said, "It's Miss Bai. We servants don't know if the master and mistress are up yet. Please go in and see for yourself."

Bai Zhiyi ran into the Lin family compound, passing through two courtyards. She bumped into one of Zheng's personal maids and quickly grabbed the maid's hand, asking, "Aunt, are you up yet?"

The maid said, "Miss Bai, the master and mistress went out early this morning and are not in the mansion."

"They went out?" Bai Zhiyi immediately broke out in a cold sweat and streamed down her face.

She rushed back, assuming her aunt and uncle would be inside the manor on such a snowy day. She hadn't expected them to be out. Wei Jingzhuo was waiting for them. Although there were still two hours until noon, if they couldn't find them, that time would pass in the blink of an eye.

Wei Jingzhuo always kept his word. Once noon passed, the Northwest Army would march on the Lin residence.

"Did they say where they went?" she asked anxiously, grasping the maid's hand. "I need to speak with them urgently."

The maid shook her head and said, "This servant doesn't know. When Master and Madam left, they didn't say where they were going."

Bai Zhiyi panicked even more and released the maid's hand, saying, "Didn't you tell anyone?"

Just as she was panicking, Lin Fei's childish voice came from outside the door: "Cousin, cousin, where did you go this morning? I couldn't find you anywhere."

Bai Zhiyi turned her head and saw Lin Fei walk in. She quickly knelt down and took Lin Fei's arms, saying, "Xiao Fei, where did your parents go? Do you know?"

Lin Fei raised his arm and rubbed his eyes, saying, "I don't know, they were gone when I woke up."

Bai Zhiyi said, "Xiao Fei is such a good girl. Play with your cousin's maid first, your cousin needs to go talk to your parents."

Just as she was about to get up, Lin Fei wrapped his arms around her neck and said, "Cousin, I don't want to play with others. Let's play a game together. I'll be the emperor, and you'll be the minister..."

Bai Zhiyi was anxious and said to Lin Fei, "My cousin has something to do, so we'll stop playing for now."

After saying that, she repeatedly winked at the maid standing at the door.

The maid, who had served her for a long time, knew what she meant. She quickly stepped forward and pretended to be fierce, saying, "Third Young Master, how old are you? Why are you still so clingy! Your cousin has something very important to do, don't delay her."

Seeing the maid get angry, Lin Fei grabbed Bai Zhiyi's sleeve to hide and whispered, "Sister, you're being mean again. My mother says that getting angry causes wrinkles and makes you age faster."

The maid was only pretending to be fierce, but Lin Fei amused her. Lin Fei noticed and said, "Sister wasn't really angry after all."

Bai Zhiyi glared angrily at the maid, who quickly lowered her head in fright.

Lin Fei tugged at her sleeve again and said, "Cousin, play games with me. Come on, let's go to my mother's room."

Bai Zhiyi didn't want to go at first, but then she thought that maybe she could see something in her aunt's room, so she took Lin Fei's hand and said, "Okay, take me there. Just for a little while."

Lin Fei became happy and pulled her along, running all the way to the front of the Lin couple's bedroom. The servants and maids guarding the bedroom door tactfully made way when they saw the Third Young Master leading Bai Zhiyi.

Everyone knew that this third young master was used to being domineering and arrogant, and he didn't even dare to discipline his own master and mistress, so how could the servants dare to say anything?

Lin Fei pulled Bai Zhiyi into the room and said excitedly, "Cousin, you are a minister, kneel down and listen to the decree." After saying that, he moved a small stool over and stepped on it to reach for something on the bookshelf.

Bai Zhiyi scanned the room, searching for clues, but saw nothing. She only noticed a few pieces of paper on the table, one of which seemed to have some messy drawings on it.

She turned her gaze away without paying attention and casually said, "Xiao Fei, you really made your cousin kneel down?"
