As the two were whispering to each other, a commotion suddenly broke out downstairs.

Su Wan turned around and grabbed Wei Jingzhuo: "Little Zhuozi, it's time for us to show our skills. Come downstairs with me."
Wei Jingzhuo slung his medicine box over his shoulder and grabbed an umbrella. Su Wan ran down the stairs, shouting, "Make way, make way, I'm the doctor."
The crowd quickly made way for her. The man seemed to have heard her voice too, turned around to look at her, his hands clutching his throat, his face turning purple.
Su Wan rolled up her sleeves and stepped forward.
The man in front of her was clearly having his airway blocked by a large piece of beef, so the Heimlich maneuver was necessary. As a basic first-aid technique, she had learned it as soon as she entered medical school and was extremely proficient in it.
The technique is very simple: hug the patient from behind, place your hands under the sternum, and use your knuckles to quickly thrust inward and upward, pushing the diaphragm upward and forcing airflow from the lungs towards the throat to expel the obstruction.
She had just walked behind the man and opened her arms to hug him when Wei Jingzhuo rushed down the stairs and came over.
