Su Wan entered Meng Ruliu's room and closed the door behind her.
She had just looked up when a woman rushed towards her, holding an iron hammer high in both hands and saying, "Get out of here right now, or I'll beat you up."
This woman appeared to be about the same age as Su Wan, and had a similarly slender figure, though she was half a head taller. She wore a fiery red short top. With a fair, oval face, arched eyebrows, and piercingly sharp eyes, she didn't seem threatening at first glance.
Su Wan was secretly alarmed when she saw the iron hammer she had raised.
That hammer is as big as a person's head; if it's solid, it must weigh dozens of kilograms. I can't believe Meng Ruliu could lift it so easily above her head. Amazing!
It's clear that Dr. Zhang suffered a concussion after being hit by that hammer.
Su Wan raised her hands and said, "Don't hit me, don't hit me, I'm not wearing a helmet."
Seeing that she immediately looked like she was begging for mercy, Meng Ruliu smiled, put down the hammer, and it landed on the ground with a thud. She said, "You little doctor are quite special, begging for mercy right away. Fine, I won't hit you. If I really hit you like this, you'd be dead."
Su Wan smiled, stood up and said, "I can see that Miss Meng is also sensible."
She is ruthless when necessary, and she is also timid when necessary.
Meng Ruliu said, "Are you talking about the one I just knocked away? He thought I wouldn't dare hit him because he was wearing a helmet, so I just tapped him lightly as punishment."
Su Wan said, "Miss Meng, you don't look very strong, how can you lift such a heavy iron hammer?"
Meng Ruliu cracked her knuckles and said, "Don't try to get close to me. I'm not going to use the hammer. Do you want me to throw you out, or do you want to go out yourself?"
Su Wan held up her medicine box and said, "Miss Meng, I'm here to treat you. Can you let me finish what I have to say?"
"What did you say?" Meng Ruliu stepped forward, grabbed Su Wan by the back of her neck like a chick, and lifted her up in one go. "You stinking men, all you do is use sweet talk to deceive people. Besides, I'm not sick. Get out of here."
Su Wan was lifted into the air by her and cried out, "Miss Meng, don't be so rude, let's talk this out."
Hearing the sounds coming from inside the room, Meng Kuan, who was waiting at the courtyard gate, stamped his foot and said to the person next to him, "Sigh, Doctor Su is going to be thrown out."
The servants said, "General, don't worry, we'll all go to the door to catch them. Last time the young lady threw one out, so we know roughly where it will land."
Everyone was making a racket outside, but they found that the door was still closed and Dr. Su had not been thrown out.
Meng Kuan was overjoyed and listened intently, but couldn't make out what was being said. However, Meng Ruliu seemed to have stopped being angry and was talking to Doctor Su, though their voices were very low and couldn't be heard clearly.
Wei Jingzhuo walked behind Meng Kuan and said, "General, Doctor Su is already treating Miss Meng. Shall we speak in private?"
Meng Kuan turned to look at Wei Jingzhuo, intending to reprimand the mere servant for daring to speak to him like that, but when his eyes met Wei Jingzhuo's, he was stunned by Wei Jingzhuo's gaze and involuntarily swallowed back the words he was about to say.
That look was not something a mere attendant would give.
He felt like a rabbit grazing on grass, who turned around and saw a tiger appear behind it.
To the tiger, the surrounding guards and servants were nothing more than rabbits. If the tiger so desired, it could tear this rabbit in two at any moment.
“Alright, let’s go to the reception room to talk.” Meng Kuan smiled and said to the guards around him, “I’ll discuss medical matters with Doctor Su’s attendants, so you don’t need to come along.”
The guards were bewildered and could only stand there, watching as Doctor Su's entourage, holding an umbrella, walked away with General Meng.
The umbrella appears to be resting on the general's waist.
Inside the room, the two were already sitting face to face at the table.
Meng Ruliu said, "Sister Su, it's fortunate that you explained in time, otherwise I would have really thrown you out just now."
Su Wan said, "Sister Meng, I can tell you hate men so much that you quickly revealed your true identity."
“Men are all the same,” Meng Ruliu said bitterly. “I’ve been in Xiping Pass for so long, and I still can’t get over this. As soon as I see a man, my head goes black and I just want to beat him up.”
Su Wan asked, "Then why did the general say that my sister is ill?"
“I just stayed in my room and didn’t go out. My father thought I had some kind of illness. He kept calling doctors,” Meng Ruliu said. “Those doctors seemed respectable, but they were all just after money. The first doctor said I had a fever, the second doctor said I had a cold…”
Su Wan recalled what Wei Jingzhuo had told her: Meng Ruliu was troubled by love, which was why she had become like this.
To put it bluntly, it's a psychological barrier.
She asked Meng Ruliu, "Did something happen to you in the capital, Sister Meng?"
“A heartless man,” Meng Ruliu said in a low voice. “I thought we were in love, but I never expected that while he was seeing me, he was seeing two other women. What’s worse, he was already engaged to a woman but didn’t tell me.”
Su Wan slammed her hand on the table and said, "What a scumbag!"
"What does 'scumbag' mean?" Meng Ruliu asked.
"He's a really awful man, like scum."
Meng Ruliu said, "Sister, the word you used is very apt. It's that scumbag. He actually had the audacity to say that he wanted to marry me and that his parents would come to propose. Luckily, I wasn't stupid enough to have someone investigate his background."
Su Wan clapped her hands and said, "Sister Meng is so smart."
"After learning about this man's background, I was so angry that I went to his door to confront him. He actually had the audacity to say that it was my own choice."
