Chapter 18 Of course it's your wife!

Su Wan knew these people were going to kill her too, so she quickly rode her little donkey and hid behind Wei Jingzhuo.

Wei Jingzhuo had no chance against these men. He fired three arrows at once, and the men in black fell down without even touching a corner of his clothes.

It was only then that she realized how twisted Wei Jingzhuo truly was.

If it were anyone else, they would probably be finished by now.

Wei Jingzhuo was able to take down several people so quickly thanks in no small part to the interference from Su Wan's laser pointer.

The remaining two did not move forward; instead, they secretly launched a signal flare into the sky.

The sky instantly burst into colorful fireworks.

The firelight over this area can be seen from a great distance.

The men in black from other directions turned around and rushed over: "We've found the deposed crown prince! He's there, let's go!"

The clatter of hooves was exceptionally clear in the quiet night.

Upon seeing this, Lin Qingfeng frowned deeply. This was bad!

Someone's coming soon!

He quickly dealt with the person in front of him and ran to find Wei Jingzhuo.

Seeing that Wei Jingzhuo and Su Wan were both alright, he was relieved and urged, "Master, Madam cannot stay here any longer. Let's leave quickly."

As for returning to Suiyang County, that can only be discussed later.

Su Wan knew she couldn't leave tonight, so she had no choice but to go back with the two of them.

When the three of them returned together, Granny Cui had a big smile on her face.

"Madam is back? It's good that you're back," she said earnestly, as if afraid that she would run away. "Madam, you are a married woman now. Suiyang County is not a big place. Everyone knows that you married your master. When you go out in the future, people will gossip about you."

She immediately understood what Granny Cui was saying.

I almost forgot that this is ancient times with strict rules. If someone is kicked out of the house by their husband's family on their wedding day, their reputation will be completely ruined.

Although she didn't care about these things, she still had Su Yuze, and she couldn't ruin his future because of her reputation.

She hadn't considered things carefully at the time.

"Why didn't A-Jin tell me all this?" she asked Wei Jingzhuo, tilting her head. "If you had told me earlier, would I have needed to go through all this trouble?"

With constant chasing and pretending to be a master, one wrong move and you could lose your head.

“I already said that,” he said calmly.

Su Wan looked at him with a puzzled expression. When did he say that? How come she didn't know?

"When I asked you if you were really going to leave," Wei Jingzhuo said, pouring some water and placing it beside her.

She thought about it for a moment, and it seemed that Wei Jingzhuo had indeed said something like that.

But she thought he was just being polite; she never expected him to ask that.

She's not a native of this area.

Wei Jingzhuo glanced at her from time to time, as if he were looking at someone else through her, and she deliberately avoided his probing gaze.

"Okay, I misunderstood you." She acted like she had nothing to lose and threw the laser pointer on the table.

He looked away, glanced at the object on the table, picked it up, and pressed a button. Suddenly, a beam of green light appeared.

He shone the light on Su Wan, who raised her sleeve to cover herself. "I said, don't point this at me, it's hurtful."

Wei Jingzhuo moved the laser pointer away and then shone it on himself.

Su Wan: "..."

Is this guy a masochist?

Although it won't obviously hurt anyone, it's not good to take such a picture of yourself, is it?

Wei Jingzhuo nodded: "Nothing."

She took it and told him, "This thing can blind people if you point it at their eyes. If it's powerful enough, it can be used as a weapon, a distress signal, and most importantly, a self-defense weapon."

She leaned closer to him to demonstrate, their heads so close that Wei Jingzhuo could smell the faint fragrance emanating from her.

He looked up and saw a pair of bright, smiling eyes with a slight upturn at the corners of her lips.

The dim candlelight shone on her face, adding a touch of gentleness to her appearance.

With each breath, he seemed to feel the warm, sweet breath on his face.

Realizing they were standing so close, he felt a little uncomfortable, so he slowly moved away, leaned against the carriage, and listened quietly to her explanation.

The sound was crisp and cheerful, like a bird in the mountains.

Wei Jingzhuo stared at her intently until the lights in the carriage suddenly came on, at which point he looked away.

The green beam of light turned white, and the dark carriage was instantly illuminated as if it were daytime.

"This light can blind people within ten meters. The green light just now wasn't actually that powerful. You can use this when you're fighting with someone."

Wei Jingzhuo took it, his well-defined fingers lightly pressing the buttons a few times, his voice cool and clear, "This thing is not bad."

"Of course, anything produced by me, Su Wan, is never inferior." She smiled smugly.

These are all things she can't find in her apartment; they're cheap and useful.

Wei Jingzhuo nodded, tried it a few times, and then silently put it away.

Then he suddenly asked, "Who are you?"

Su Wan was taken aback, not expecting him to ask her that.

She then laughed heartily: "Your wife."

"You just ran away." He gave her a cold look.

Can she admit to that?

Of course not!

She shamelessly said, "Hey! That was all a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding! Didn't I come back with you?"

Can she not come back with me? Those men in black would chop her up.

She's not stupid.

He asked softly, "Really? You're not leaving?"

Su Wan picked up the bamboo teacup and took a big gulp, wiped her mouth with her sleeve, and waved her hand: "I'm not leaving, I'm not leaving. Even if you kick me out now, I won't leave."

Leaving now would be like handing yourself a free kill.

She rested her chin on her hand and looked at him, finding him increasingly handsome.

Wei Jingzhuo lowered his eyes and picked up the book beside him to read.

Su Wan, looking completely spineless, slumped over the table and said, "My father is Prefect Su. Otherwise, who do you think I am?"

Since she had decided to run away with this person first, she still needed to make her identity clear.

Wei Jingzhuo gently turned the pages of the book with his slender fingers. After hearing her words, he raised his head and looked at her with sharp eyes.

Su Wan pretended not to understand the meaning behind his words. She looked out the car window and saw a faint orange-red tinge on the distant horizon.

After running all night, she was really tired, so she quietly closed her eyes, intending to take a nap.

Wei Jingzhuo saw that she was leaning against the carriage with her head tilted, clearly avoiding the question he had just asked. However, since she was unwilling to talk about it, he would not press her for an answer.

Next, he will have Lin Qingfeng investigate Su Wan's past, and any suspicious traces should be erased in advance.
