Chapter 187 Her words are imperial edicts

"goddess?"

She paused for a moment, then said, "Where is the goddess? Let me see her. I'll do anything, just let me live."

Yang Yaozu nodded and stepped aside.

A clown mask came into her view, its red paint depicting a laughing mouth that flickered in the firelight. A pair of cold, icy eyes stared at her from behind the mask. That gaze was devoid of any other human emotion, as if filled only with hatred.

Her body stiffened, and she quickly took a few steps back and knelt on the ground: "Miss Qiu, please save me. I'll do anything to live."

Outside the iron gate, Qiu Jie said to the jailer, "Prepare paper and pen for her. Open the gate, I want to go in and talk to her."

One jailer quickly took out his key to open the door, while the other jailer went to get paper and pen.

The heavy prison door creaked open slowly. Qiu Jie, carrying a scabbard inlaid with gold and jade, entered and said to Yang Yaozu, "Please wait here, Eunuch Yang."

Yang Yaozu bowed and said humbly, "This servant obeys the decree."

Almost overnight, the goddess Qiu Jie gained Emperor Kangping's favor. Because of the previous incident where Imperial Physician Chai concocted poison, Emperor Kangping no longer trusted any imperial physicians. The only person he trusted was Qiu Jie, and he listened to her every word.

Even Emperor Kangping was like this, let alone a minor figure like him.

Furthermore, as a token of gratitude for Qiu Jie's treatment, Emperor Kangping bestowed upon Qiu Jie his sword "Chengjun," which he had worn during his battles.

Any official in the Great Jin Dynasty, from a first-rank prime minister to a seventh-rank county magistrate, would regard seeing this sword as seeing the emperor. Whenever Qiu Jie drew the Chengjun sword, her words would be considered an imperial edict from Emperor Kangping.

Yang Yaozu and his guards waited patiently outside the prison gate, while Li Fei's screams echoed from inside the cell.

"This is the Chengjun Sword!"

Qiu Jie's voice rang out: "That's right, what I'm about to say is His Majesty's decree. Listen carefully."

The two people behind them lowered their voices. It became unclear.

After a short while, the prison door opened again, and Qiu Jie stepped out. She handed a letter to a guard beside her and said, "Send this letter to the Fifth Prince immediately."

The guard took the letter and turned to leave. Qiu Jie said to Yang Yaozu, "Eunuch Yang, let's go further in. I need to say a few words to Physician Jiang."

Imperial Physician Jiang was the doctor who prescribed medicine for Emperor Kangping. Although he did not poison the emperor, he was still considered an accomplice and was imprisoned in this death row cell along with Consort Li.

Two guards led the way with torches, and Yang Yaozu walked at the front, saying, "Goddess, this way. Turn right at the end ahead, and the sixth cell is Physician Jiang's cell."

The prison guards stood bowing against the wall in the corridor. After Qiu Jie and her group passed by, one of the guards came over and closed the door to Li Fei's cell.

He had just closed the door and was about to lock it when Consort Li's ecstatic voice came from inside the cell.

“I survived! His Majesty has agreed to let me become a nun. I survived! Hahaha... I survived!”
