Su Wan gasped.
So soon, you're marrying that sickly guy who's about to die tomorrow?
Or... we should just run away right now.
Su Yuze said angrily, "I saw my cousin's yard was full of dowry. All that dowry originally belonged to my sister, and they didn't even change the trunks!"
Those dowries were all prepared by my father for my elder sister when he was alive.
When my father was alive, he served as the governor of Youzhou. He was honest and upright for most of his life and did not leave behind much wealth. My elder sister's dowry was brought by my mother when she married my father.
Now all of these dowries have been seized by my second uncle's family.
Su Yuze puffed out his tender little face in anger, tears welling up in his eyes: "Especially my elder sister's wedding dress."
A fragment of memory flashed through Su Wan's mind: her father holding her wedding dress with a happy expression, which he had ordered from the best embroidery shop with several months' worth of his salary.
The bright red wedding dress was as thin as mist and as light as a cloud, adorned with exquisite embroidery. Every detail revealed the father's deep love and tender affection for his daughter.
The father wanted his daughter to have a grand and glorious wedding.
She wiped her face; the actions of Su Heng and his wife had crossed her line. It was rare to see someone so greedy.
They didn't even spare a single piece of clothing!
Seeing her pale face, Su Yuze asked, "Does elder sister want that wedding dress back?"
Although he was young, he knew what that wedding dress meant to his older sister, especially since it was prepared by their father for her.
After a long while, Su Wan nodded heavily and said, "Yes, I will not only take back my wedding dress, but also my mother's dowry."
But not now; her first priority is to get out of her current predicament.
She glanced at Su Yuze. At such a young age, his innocent face had already lost its childlike naiveté, and his eyes held a sense of uncertainty and worry about the future.
“Brother,” she said suddenly, holding his shoulder, “do you want to leave here?”

Su Yuze immediately composed himself, realizing that someone was watching him from outside.
“Listen carefully, we’re running away tonight,” Su Wan quickly whispered. “When you leave here, pretend you know nothing. When it gets late at night, pretend you’re going to the outhouse, and we’ll meet under the big tree next to the outhouse.”
Su Yuze's eyes lit up as he listened, his eyebrows raised, and he nodded repeatedly.
If you were to ask where the Su family's defenses are weakest, it would be the outhouse. There's a big tree there with branches that grow over the wall. All you have to do is climb the tree and then jump over the wall using the trunk.
The original owner chose to escape through a dog hole last time, but the only downside of that dog hole was that it was close to the front gate of the yard, making it easy for someone to spot her.
The idea of climbing a tree was something Su Heng and his wife never imagined.

“There’s a box under my bed. Find a chance to go in and take the things out of the box with you,” Su Wan instructed him as a final reminder. “Remember not to let anyone find out. If you don’t have a chance, don’t do anything.”
There were two hundred taels of silver that the original owner had secretly saved, as well as a land deed for a pharmacy.
With this money and land deed, the two of them could live outside for several years.
Su Yuze nodded seriously.
Just then, very light footsteps came from outside. It turned out that the servant in charge of surveillance had come over to eavesdrop after seeing the two whispering to each other inside.
Su Wan coughed and said loudly to Su Yuze, "Brother, do you have any food left? I'm still hungry."

After saying that, he dashed out the door. The servant didn't have time to dodge and was knocked over by Su Yuze, falling to the ground and not getting up for a long time.
Su Yuze felt relieved and was about to run away when a servant, supporting his waist, got up from the ground and grabbed him.
"Now that we've seen the person, it's time to come back to the courtyard with me. If Second Master and Madam find out, I'll be punished."
Su Yuze glanced back at Su Wan, then lowered his head and obediently followed the servants to his own courtyard.
