One packet of medicine can probably knock out about twenty people. How many packets of medicine would be needed to knock out one thousand and twenty-six people?
At least fifty-one packs.
Su Wan stared speechlessly at the roof of the car. This was simply impossible.
First of all, the pharmacy simply doesn't have that many medicines. Even if they did, Lao Qi couldn't carry them all by himself. One packet of medicine is easy to hide, but fifty-one packets would be suspicious if he had to carry them all.
She turned her gaze back and saw Su Yuze, Meng Ruliu, and Lao Qi all staring at her, looking completely bewildered.
Meng Ruliu spoke first: "Sister-in-law, what should we do next?"
“Sister…we can’t escape,” Su Yuze said, his voice trembling with tears. “You guys go first. They captured me, but they didn’t hurt me. Go back and find your brother-in-law to rescue me.”
Although he is young, he has suffered a lot and is mature beyond his years. When faced with danger, he doesn't act like a child at all.
The seventh brother said with a long face, "If this plan doesn't work, does that mean Madam Su won't give me the antidote?"
Su Wan shook her head helplessly: "Everyone, please don't rush, let me think about it."
Su Yuze was unaware of Wei Jingzhuo's situation. At Xiping Pass, they were almost entirely relying on wounded soldiers to hold off Wei Shao's fierce attacks; whether Wei Jingzhuo himself could hold the position was questionable. Besides, Captain Ning had said they wouldn't be allowed to leave until they reached the Southern Chu army camp.
If she were taken to the Southern Chu army camp like this, she would have no chance of escape. They not only captured Su Yuze, but they captured her too.
What if Bai Zhiyi comes back in time...
Bai Zhiyi already hated her for stealing Wei Jingzhuo. She had even tricked her by having Zhao Xiyue apply hemorrhoid cream all over her eyes.
Now that Bai Zhiyi is disfigured, she's like a completely different person, a ruthless woman who dares to poison even the emperor. Killing a mere Su Wan like that would be as easy as killing a chicken, wouldn't it?
Thinking about all this sent chills down her spine.
I'd rather see Chu Yi than Bai Zhiyi. At least Chu Yi has principles, but Bai Zhiyi... seems a bit crazy.
She asked the seventh brother, "Where is the goddess now?"
The seventh prince didn't understand why she asked this, and honestly replied, "After the goddess ordered Your Highness to arrest Young Master Su, she said she was going to the capital to persuade Consort Li, and then she left. I don't know where she is now."
Su Wan said, "There's an old saying that goes, 'Fortune favors the bold.' I've decided to take the risk and give it a try."
The three people in the car asked in unison, full of curiosity, "Try what?"
"I'm going to see Brother Chu."
The three people in the car were stunned when Su Wan said that.
After a while, Meng Ruliu reached out and patted her face: "Sister, are you scared out of your wits? We're trying to escape, and you want to see Chu Yi instead?"
Su Yuze's face turned pale, and he said, "Sister, you don't know martial arts, you can't beat that person."
Su Wan smiled and said, "Seventh Brother just said that capturing Brother was the Goddess's idea. This shows that Brother Chu is unwilling to do this. I want to go and beg him to let us go."
The seventh prince nodded and said, "Madam Su is right. We really don't want to do this. But His Highness seems to listen to the Goddess."
Meng Ruliu curled her lip and said, "Sister, you keep calling him Brother Chu. He's about to lead the Southern Chu army to attack your husband. Do you think he'll let you go?"
"There's no other way but to take the risk and try it," Su Wan said helplessly.
There were thousands of Southern Chu cavalrymen outside the carriage. They only had a dozen or so men; a direct confrontation was hopeless. Even strategy wouldn't help.
Her decision to see Chu Yi was based on her previous interactions with him. She felt that Chu Yi wasn't the kind of person who would stop at nothing to get things done, which was evident from the fact that he hadn't used force to take her away.
Old Seven glanced at the light filtering through the crack in the car door and said nervously, "It's already night. When will my poison take effect?"
Su Wan took a water glass, poured in half a glass of warm water, and put a small amount of the sleeping pill in it. Then she took out a metronidazole pill and waved it in front of Lao Qi: "See? This pill is the antidote."
The seventh brother was overjoyed and said, "Madam Su has agreed to give me the antidote?"
“The plan has changed. I’m going to see your prince now, so I don’t need you anymore,” Su Wan dissolved the pills in water and handed them to Lao Qi. “But I don’t want you to ruin things before I see Brother Chu. So please go to sleep first.”
The seventh brother took the cup and drank it all in one gulp without hesitation. Soon after, his head lolled to the side and he fell asleep.
Meng Ruliu asked Su Wan, "Sister-in-law, did you really give him the antidote?"
Su Wan smiled and said, "It's just an anti-inflammatory drug commonly used in gynecology."
Meng Ruliu said, "So what he ate wasn't poison?"
"right."
“Sister, I’m not trying to be mean,” Meng Ruliu leaned back, “but when you interrogated him, I felt you were incredibly ruthless. Why didn’t you kill him? And what about Yang Yaozu and his gang? Weren’t they very mean to you? Why did you take them in?”
Su Wan shook her head: "I studied medicine, and I know very well how difficult it is to save a person. Unless absolutely necessary, I don't think it's necessary to kill someone."
Upon hearing this, Su Yuze interjected, "Sister, are you going to spare Uncle and Aunt?"
Su Wan said, "I've spared them. They've been punished and paid the price. I think that's enough."
She has retrieved all of her father's property. The Su family is now penniless and lives in the Su residence, earning their food through labor and being looked after by Zhao Fu and the Lu siblings.
Regardless of what others think, she felt the punishment was enough.
Su Yuze was somewhat disappointed: "Sister, they treated you so badly... If it were up to me, we should at least have the magistrate give them twenty lashes."
