Chapter 202 Both of them were careless.

Her mother thought it was improper, so she had a blacksmith forge a pair of iron hammers for her to expend her energy. She practiced with the hammers every day, not only becoming proficient but also developing a unique skill of throwing the hammers.

Chu Yi asked, "Miss Meng, are there really no people you've caught who have managed to break free?"

"No."

"I want to try, give it a shot."

Upon hearing this, Meng Ruliu's expression changed, and she instinctively pulled her arm back sharply.

With her strength, no one could withstand such force; their necks would be broken.

Instead of grabbing her arms and pulling her away like most people would, Chu Yi slammed his elbows back, striking her ribs. The force wasn't great, but it instantly rendered her arms powerless.

He snatched the curved knife from the carriage, but instead of taking the opportunity to slash at Meng Ruliu, he flipped over and jumped off the carriage.

Landing on the ground, he held his curved sword, rubbing his neck, and said, "Miss Meng is indeed incredibly strong. Anyone else would probably have had no choice but to submit."

The implication was that Meng Ruliu couldn't control him.

Meng Ruliu was furious. She leaped off the carriage and said, "It was my carelessness that allowed you to escape once. Now I will bring you back."

She reached under the carriage and pulled out the pair of hammers, which clashed together.

Su Wan patted the carriage repeatedly, signaling Lin Qingfeng to stop. She jumped down and ran to the two men facing off, saying to Meng Ruliu, "Sister-in-law, don't fight with Brother Chu. He let us go out of kindness. Let's just leave like this."

Meng Ruliu said, "No, I have to catch him. My sworn sister, you stand aside."

Lin Qingfeng ran over at this moment, drew his sword and said, "Miss Meng, I'll help too."

"No need, I can handle him by myself," Meng Ruliu said confidently. "Guard Lin, don't interfere."

Seeing that she couldn't persuade Meng Ruliu and that Lin Qingfeng was making things worse, Su Wan angrily said to Lin Qingfeng, "Don't cause trouble, go to the side."

Seeing Lin Qingfeng obediently step back, she then said to Chu Yi, "Brother Chu..."

Chu Yi raised his hand to stop her from continuing, stood the curved sword upright, and twirled it in his hand, saying, "I was careless just now. If I had known you were Meng Kuan's daughter, I wouldn't have gotten so close to you. We were both careless once, so now we're even."

"Stop talking nonsense, you stinky man!" Meng Ruliu stretched her arms and found that they were no longer sore and numb. She charged straight at Chu Yi, "Take this!"

Chu Yi suppressed his smile and raised his scimitar to meet the attack.

Su Wan covered her eyes in fright and shouted, "You two, stop fighting!"

A soft clang rang in my ears, like two metal rods rubbing against each other, and then there was no more sound.

She peeked out through a small gap between her fingers and saw Meng Ruliu standing there blankly, the hammer in her right hand now only had a handle left, the hammerhead lying on the ground.

Chu Yi sheathed his scimitar and turned to walk into the darkness.

"Sister!" Su Wan rushed to Meng Ruliu's side and helped her up. "Are you alright? Are you alright?"

Meng Ruliu remained standing there blankly, offering no reply. Su Wan glanced at her by the moonlight and saw that the side of Meng Ruliu's neck was stained red with blood. She exclaimed in alarm, "Sister, you're injured! Let me treat you."

She quickly retrieved saline solution from the pharmacy, intending to rinse the wound first.

Meng Ruliu slowly turned around, rested her face on her shoulder, and cried.

"Don't cry, sister-in-law. I saw it, the wound isn't deep," Su Wan gently patted Meng Ruliu's shoulder with one hand and used a cotton ball to wipe away the blood with the other. "It's just a small cut, don't cry."

“It’s not about the wound,” Meng Ruliu cried even harder, “I’m so useless, I couldn’t even withstand one of his moves.”

"It's okay, it's okay... Don't cry, okay?" Su Wan comforted her repeatedly, then took out a bottle of iodine and started unscrewing the cap.

"Madam, Miss Meng!" Lin Qingfeng stood on a high slope, pointing into the distance and shouting, "Come and see quickly!"

Hearing Lin Qingfeng's panicked tone, Meng Ruliu quickly wiped away her tears and pulled Su Wan along as they ran up the hillside. Even Su Yuze jumped out of the car and ran over to stand with the three of them.

Everyone was stunned by the scene in the distance.

Flames flickered across the distant plains. Thick smoke billowed past the flames, making them appear and disappear. The ground illuminated by the firelight was littered with corpses, and a tattered banner was stuck askew in a crevice, fluttering weakly in the biting wind.

The flag was blackened by smoke, but the character "孟" could still be faintly seen on it.
